Chapter 519 Professional Field

With a bang of a gunshot, the figure in the blue uniform fell to the ground, blood slowly spread out from under his body, his body with a broken heart twitched violently for a few times, and then gradually stopped moving.

This scene was like a complete murder. Even the twitching of the corpse after it fell seemed to constantly strengthen the element of "murder" and reinforce Heidi's impression that she had just "killed an ordinary person."

However, Heidi just watched it all with an expressionless face, and listened attentively to every movement around her as the corpse fell to the ground and twitched.

Under normal circumstances, the sound of the gunshots would have been enough to spread throughout the entire building, and the security personnel and church guards stationed in the facility should have been alarmed by now. However, the fact was that after the gunshots, there was only silence in the corridor, and no one appeared at all, as if... the facility had been empty for a long time.

The amethyst pendant hanging on her chest was still emitting a slight warmth, a kind of blessing that did not belong to the Four Gods but was extremely effective, which kept Heidi's mind clear.

This pendant was not the original one - the first pendant her father brought back from that "antique shop" had dried up and broken in the previous Black Sun incident. The pendant she was wearing now was the second "gift" given to her father by the antique shop owner.

It turns out that it still has the same incredible power as the first pendant.

After a moment of silence, Heidi exhaled softly. She held the revolver she had just taken out of the secret compartment of the suitcase in one hand, and with the other hand she put the suitcase on the ground and took out a long golden cone (one of her medical tools) from it, while still staring at the body lying on the ground: "Good acting, but can you stop acting?"

The "corpse" had already stopped twitching. After Heidi finished speaking, he finally moved a bit, then climbed up as if nothing had happened. With the horrific gunshot wound on his chest, he turned around and looked at the psychiatrist who had just "killed" him: "I'm curious, when did you realize it?"

Heidi held a gun in one hand and a golden cone in the other, looking at the "dream invader" in front of her with alertness and calmness: "There is only one bed in this ward - so when I lay on the 'empty bed' next to the bed, the confrontation began."

"It's really interesting... Few people can still detect this deviation after falling into a dream, at least not so quickly," the intruder said leisurely. In the air beside him, some dark and hazy shadows or smoke seemed to be gradually emerging and condensing into a tangible existence. "Including those so-called 'psychiatrists' who have received professional training."

Heidi frowned as she looked at the smoke shadow that appeared beside the other person. She finally distinguished the outline of that thing and her eyes changed instantly: "Smoke jellyfish... Annihilation Cultist?"

The moment she recognized the shadow, the originally hazy outline of the thing immediately became clear. A "jellyfish" that seemed to be made of smoke and dust floated in the air and was connected to the skull of the invader by a pitch-black chain. This dangerous demonic creature was expanding and wriggling, and countless tentacle-like structures spread out on its surface, and it had spread to a very close place around Heidi without her knowing!

A huge sense of crisis instantly exploded in her heart. Heidi felt the erosion and destruction happening in her spiritual world. The enemy's attack was covert and insidious and had already happened. If it weren't for her inspiration that suddenly warned her and allowed her to recognize the outline of the smoke jellyfish in this dream, she would probably have been parasitized by the spirit of the smoke jellyfish by the time she reacted!

The next moment, without any hesitation, she raised the sharp golden cone in her hand and stabbed it into her own temple without hesitation!

The next second, a loud noise like thunder exploded in her mind, and everything in her field of vision began to tremble and shake violently. The ward, which seemed normal at first, instantly began to deform and twist. The walls melted like wax, revealing the disgusting truth inside that looked like withered flesh and blood. The floor was like dry and scorched earth, covered with terrifying gullies and unclean crawling things, and the smoke jellyfish with countless tentacles extended seemed to have suffered a severe blow. It suddenly let out a shrill whistling sound, and all its tentacles contracted violently.

Then, the Annihilation Cultist disguised as a government office staff and the symbiotic smoke jellyfish disappeared from Heidi's eyes like mist.

However, Heidi did not relax at all. She still held the pistol and the golden cone tightly, and was alert to any inconsistency in the environment while quickly checking her mental state, because she knew that the dream invader was not defeated and had not even left.

This dream showed no signs of breaking or dissipating.

The knowledge I learned during my further studies at the Academy of Truth gradually came to my mind.

Smoke jellyfish... a branch of the Deep Demon, with an amorphous body like smoke and various dangerous and strange supernatural powers. It is particularly good at attacking the victim's mind and perception. Summoners who coexist with this demon can use spells that damage the mind, or directly extract the energy of the Deep Demon and send it out in the form of corrosive missiles...

Compared to most Abyss Demons, the bodies of Smoke Jellyfish are not strong, but their strange and extraordinary powers make them one of the most dangerous Abyss Demons - in many cases, you don't have time to attack their fragile bodies, and you have missed the opportunity to resist due to mental trauma. The cunning cultists who coexist with Smoke Jellyfish will consciously amplify the "characteristics" of the Abyss Demon, making it even more difficult to deal with.

The heat radiated from the amethyst pendant on her chest became more and more obvious. Heidi could feel that some malicious "elements" in this dream were still trying to erode and destroy her spirit, but the power released by the pendant was protecting herself and constantly disintegrating those invasions while maintaining her wakefulness.

In this stalemate between erosion and protection, a new sense of crisis suddenly arose in my heart.

Heidi immediately followed this feeling and raised her pistol, but just as she was aiming, the figure that emerged from the air made her stop.

Morris appeared there, looking at this side in surprise.

"Heidi?" The familiar figure asked in confusion and concern, "What's going on...are you trapped in a nightmare?!"

"Yes," Heidi nodded and pulled the trigger without hesitation. She said as she fired, "I don't know what happened. An Annihilation Cultist interfered with my hypnosis treatment. But I remember that even the Smoke Jellyfish didn't have the ability to control the dream realm."

The gun flashed and there was a loud bang. My father was hit by the gun. He had an incredible expression on his face, then he shook twice and fell backwards.

But the next second, another figure appeared where his father fell—a gentle old woman with a concerned expression on her face, it was his mother.

"Heidi, what are you doing? Why are you..."

"I'm treating a patient." Heidi pulled the trigger and said casually.

The mother fell down, but then an exceptionally tall figure appeared in the field of vision again - this time, the figure only had time to condense a slight outline of Vanna, and Heidi had already fired a shot one step ahead.

Another phantom fell.

"You're too careless, Mr. Intruder," Heidi shook her head. "How could such a simple trick possibly work? What's more, there's Vanna. If it's really her, she'll just grab the bullet, roll it into a ball and throw it back..."

Those figures that kept appearing finally came to an end.

An angry and low voice suddenly came from somewhere: "Why are you not affected?"

"I already know that this is a twisted dream, so of course I won't believe these illusions you created," Heidi said calmly. "Of course, I guess you're not surprised by this - you're surprised why my mind is not shaken. After all, even if you know in advance that these are all illusions, if an ordinary person keeps seeing familiar faces die in front of him, and he does it himself, this process will accumulate huge mental pressure and eventually impact the defense line of reason. This has nothing to do with whether you are 'awake' or not... But unfortunately, I have received some training."

As she spoke, the psychiatrist slowly raised the muzzle of the gun and pressed it against her temple.

"Do you know the value of the Master's and Doctoral programs at Truth Academy plus a full scholarship, Mr. Intruder?"

"Bang!"

The trigger was pulled, the gun went off, and Heidi shot herself in the head without hesitation - and as her figure swayed, another Heidi walked out from beside her in an instant!

Bang, bang, bang, continuous gunshots rang out. The revolver that could only hold six bullets roared continuously, as if the bullets were endless. Heidi pulled the trigger repeatedly at her temple, and one after another "personality clones" began to walk out from her side, holding golden cones and walking towards every corner of the ward that had been distorted into a nightmare, towards the door, and towards the corridor outside.

"You shouldn't mess with me in my professional field, Mr. Intruder," Heidi slowly raised her head and pulled the trigger at her head for the last time, "and you shouldn't mess with me when I'm treating patients - I really, really, really don't like working overtime!"

Dozens of personality clones quickly dispersed and spread throughout this alienated "medical facility", and began to search for any suspicious clues in this invaded dream, looking for "cognitive holes" on the edge of the dream that might be "invasion paths" and "hiding places".

However, as her personality clone moved, Heidi suddenly frowned.

“…Gone?”
