Chapter 638 Two Worlds

Another continent fell upside down from the sky, and the two worlds were destroyed in a "slow collision" beyond cognition. This was some kind of surreal "impact" rather than just a simple physical touch. After seeing the distortion, chaos and madness spreading in the forest, Lucrecia vaguely realized this truth.

If it were another situation, she would probably be happy to embark on a long and arduous research project, willing to contact scholars from various city-states, and bring together smart minds to figure out all the secrets of this collision.

But now is clearly not the right time.

The paper boat was shaking wildly in a violent impact, like a small boat caught in a storm. The impact was centered on the collapsing Silandis and was released to the entire world. Then, it seemed to be reflected by the "end" of the world, and it bounced back between heaven and earth again and again.

In this violent impact and tearing that was far beyond human power, the small paper boat made an unsettling tearing noise. Even the powerful "Sea Witch" felt that her control over the boat was rapidly reaching its limit.

Shirley immediately noticed the solemnity on Lucrecia's face, and immediately held Agou's head while shouting loudly: "Are we going to fall!!!"

Lucrecia frowned tightly. She did not answer Shirley's call. Instead, she quickly scanned this shattered world that was rapidly on the verge of destruction. Then she suddenly raised her hand and pointed to the distant land: "Let's land over there."

"That's courting death!" Shirley screamed, "Do you think there's any place to stand on the ground?!"

"'Erosion' has stopped. At this stage, it is the flames that are burning everything - it is just fire, which is far friendlier than those weird and distorted shadows." Lucrecia turned her head to look at Shirley, and without paying attention to the latter's reaction, she began to control the shaky paper boat to fly quickly towards the place in the forest where the fire was less severe.

The folded paper boat broke through the smoke in the forest along with Shirley's screams, passing through the two worlds that had turned into purgatory. The treetops of Silantis collapsed above their heads, and the burning giant trees and leaves fell to the ground from around the boat like a collapsing nightmare. The upside-down land was still slowly falling. Shirley could almost see the gullies on the ground and the undulating sand dunes above it.

It falls so slowly, as if the process can last forever, but the fall is so unstoppable and continuous, like the slowly approaching doomsday, crushing everything in the world inch by inch.

Lucrecia controlled the boat with all her strength, scanning the forest with her eyes, trying to find a relatively "safe" landing spot in that purgatory.

A vague flash suddenly caught her eye.

The next second, the boat sped in that direction - the speed was so fast that Shirley almost thought it was falling out of control - it passed through the rain of fire falling from the sky in a thrilling manner, and through the dust that had been floating and swirling like a phantom and had filled the sky and the earth since who knows when, and rushed straight towards the flash of light deep in the forest.

The flash gradually became clearer.

It was a roughly cone-shaped protective barrier supported by a light curtain.

Shirley also saw the light curtain. She lay on the edge of the paper boat in amazement, staring down for a long time with wide eyes, and finally recognized the two familiar figures from the barrier: "Ah! It's Nina, and the old man!"

With Shirley's surprised cry, the paper boat carrying her and Lucrecia roared across the last distance and finally reached its limit at the last moment before touching the ground. It broke into pieces in the impact and turned into fine dust in the blink of an eye.

Shirley, holding Agou, jumped out at the last moment in a panic. The person and the dog hugged each other and rolled on the ground for more than ten times before finally stopping in front of the cone-shaped light.

She looked up and saw Nina standing inside the barrier, and old Mr. Morris standing next to her with a look of astonishment on his face.

A pile of swirling colored paper pieces landed steadily beside Shirley, and Lucrecia emerged from the paper pieces.

Nina waved at them from behind the barrier.

Shirley and Lucrecia looked at each other, and without hesitation walked into the "light curtain" that seemed fragile but actually blocked the tide of destruction in the forest.

For a moment, it seemed as if the whole world had quieted down.

The horrible noise howling in the forest became inaudible, the scorching storm sweeping across the entire land was blocked outside the light curtain, the pungent smoke and poisonous fog steaming in the firelight were also kept out, Shirley even felt a breath of fresh air rushing towards her - she lowered her head and even saw some green grass under her feet and a small bush next to her.

“Amazing…” She looked up in amazement at Nina and Maurice, “How did you come up with this? Lucrecia and I can only escape to the sky…”

"Not us." Nina just shook her head slightly, then turned sideways and raised her hand to point in a direction behind her and Morris.

Shirley looked there in surprise, and the next second, she widened her eyes slightly.

A small tree quietly took root there, rooted in this land that was falling apart.

Her trunk is slender and weak, and her long branches extend all the way to the sky, then hang down at the edge of the canopy, swaying gently in the breeze.

With this small tree as the center, a cone-shaped light curtain forms the last safe shelter.

In a trance, Shirley seemed to hear a voice——

"Come with me, I will take you to the Wall of Silence..."

Then the sound disappeared in the wind.

"We are now at the Wall of Silence," Nina turned her head and looked into Shirley's eyes, "the final, true Wall of Silence."

Shirley was stunned for a moment, then slowly came to the small tree. The branches hanging from the edge of the tree canopy brushed her shoulders, making her feel a little itchy.

She turned around and looked outside the thin curtain of light.

The world is collapsing. The towering treetops of Silandis are gradually bending, disintegrating, and crashing under the "weight" of another world. The forest is burning. The earth in the distance is lifted up by an invisible force and slowly rolls up towards the inverted desert in the sky. The flames seem to have spread to that desert as well. In the dim light, a layer of hazy smoke is emerging on the surface of "that world".

But all the sounds seemed distant and from another world, like the gentle sound of the ocean waves coming through a closed window at dusk.

"Yeah...it's really quiet."

Even Shirley knew that this silence probably wouldn't last long.

But at least at this second, the falling apart world was no longer chasing her, even if what was blocking it all was... just a layer of beautiful bubbles.

What happens next?

Vanna squinted slightly in the wind.

She saw that the upside-down world had gradually touched the ground beneath her feet - the first thing it touched was the "World Tree" of astonishing size, its crown now touching the ground. That was where the giants last disappeared, and now, it became the "contact point" where the two worlds first came into contact. Then it touched the mountains in the distance, the mountains in the forest and a mountain range at the end of the desert touched, and now there were continuous flashes of light erupting there, as if a storm big enough to tear the world apart was brewing.

As the sea of fire spread and flowed above her head, she could see that the lush world was being torn apart in flames - and so was the desert beneath her feet.

But the "collision" between the two worlds is becoming slower and slower, as if some force is forcibly slowing down its progress and intervening in this doomsday.

Vanna lowered her head and looked at the bright ball of light in her hand - a tiny flame was flowing on the surface of the sun, and the light bursting out from the flame once illuminated a brilliant civilization before the deep sea era.

To this day, the sun is still shining.

She raised her head again and looked not far away from her.

The huge walking stick was still quietly stuck in the sand dune. The sea of fire hanging upside down in the sky illuminated its rough body and head that looked like tree trunks and stones. The fire flowed on its rocky surface, and the light and shadow reflected the countless words carved on it by the giant.

In a trance, Vanna seemed to understand them - she looked at the dense text and symbols line by line, as if she could hear the giant's low and gentle voice still telling her in her ears.

〖…Here, they learned to use fire.

Here they discovered the secret of farming.

Here, there was a flood—waters flooded the land, bringing death and panic, but then left fertile land behind...

They learned to build ships...

They learned to harness the power of thunder...

Vanna slowly walked to the cane and looked up at the last blank space at its end.

Now it's no longer a blank space.

At some point, the giant had already carved the last line of text there - the god who recorded history had completed his last record on the chronological column:

〖Tarekin and the Traveler completed their last journey.〗

A strange smell and disturbing rustling sounds came from afar, and an unusual heat was flowing in the air, condensing invisibly.

Vanna turned around and looked in a certain direction that she sensed.

She saw the streams of light that were constantly converging - in the raging fire and distorted light and shadows produced by the collision of the two worlds, the chaotic streams of light drilled into this place from some kind of "gap". Those streams of light gradually emitted scorching heat and gathered into a larger and larger fireball in the sky not far away.

The fireball began to take on a posture similar to that of the sun. Its edges trembled and differentiated into gushing flames. It began to float between the two worlds like the sun, wantonly releasing disturbing pressure and heat waves - then, it gradually lowered its altitude in the desert and slowly turned its true side towards Vanna.

Countless twisted and piled tentacles were hidden in the shining shell of the sun, and eyeballs that did not resemble humans were coldly watching the Inquisitor standing beside the sand dunes between the tentacles.

"Kneel down."

Said the descendant of God.
