Final remarks

It’s over, it’s over, spread the flowers~~

Captain Duncan and his companions lived a peaceful and fulfilling new life in the New World (accurately).

As usual, I still have to say a few words after finishing the book.

From the time I first started publishing in 2010 to now, I have written four novels in more than ten years. Now I have more or less achieved certain results. I am very lucky that I finally realized my childhood dream: to be a writer, to write stories that I like, and at the same time, many people like my stories. The realization of this dream is because there are so many readers who are willing to walk with me all the way, willing to read my stories, and like my imagination. Life is long, and it is very difficult to find a few like-minded people on such a long road, even if they are temporarily like-minded or like-minded in a specific field. Fortunately, I have been very successful in this matter.

I am really happy that so many people are willing to read my story. I am also honored that my story can bring happiness to so many people. Happiness is really one of the most precious things in life. It’s great that I can accomplish this.

Embers of the Deep Sea is the best-performing of my four novels so far. To be honest, this result even exceeded my expectations - I tried some new things in this book, and wrote a lot of content that I have been conceiving in my mind but did not have the opportunity to add until this book (such as the elements of comedy in the novelty route, such as creating a protagonist camp with all bosses from the enemy's perspective). I am very happy to see that so many people like these things - it seems that it was indeed the right decision to set the direction of "the boss-level protagonist forming a comedy gang in a weird world" in the beginning.

However, old readers who are used to my first three long novels may feel a little surprised. After all, according to my previous lengths, a book would take three to four years and five to six million words. The current length of Embers of the Deep Sea is more than two million words, which seems too short compared to Xiling, Anomaly and Dawn.

The reason why I chose to start finishing at this moment is, on the one hand, because writing a long novel is really tiring, and my energy is indeed not as good as it was a decade ago, and it is impossible for me to keep working on a long novel forever - this will sooner or later affect the quality of the article. On the other hand, because this is the length planned from the beginning of "Deep Sea Embers" - after writing three long novels in a row, I want to try a new plot structure and length control to see if I can still write a good story in a shorter length.

If I can, I will have the opportunity to build more worlds before I retire - after all, no matter how many ideas I have, life is short. If I really follow the previous pace of writing one book every four years, how many ideas will be buried in regret...

Frankly speaking, it was quite stressful to make this decision. After all, Embers of the Deep Sea is indeed my best-performing book so far. With just over two million words, its current subscriptions have exceeded the total subscriptions of Sword of the Dawn since its launch. Normally, many authors would try to make such a book as long as possible, and continue it as much as possible until they can no longer continue it in a few years. But I don't think this is right.

This is disrespectful to Duncan, his crew, and everyone on the vast sea.

They should have a good story with a beginning and an end, instead of gradually becoming hideous in the endless refills of boiled water.

Finally, let’s talk about the next arrangements.

First of all, there should be some extra chapters after the book is finished (theoretically), I will take a break these days and think about what to write for the extra chapters...

Then, after finishing the book, I plan to take a break for four to five months (tentative), during which time I will think carefully about the new book.

Next is about the new book - what can be revealed at present is that the new book will be a more light-hearted and enjoyable experience + adventure story. The protagonist and his gang members are all very interesting guys, and the overall worldview should not be full of "doomsday feeling" like Dawn and Deep Sea - of course, there will be no shortage of crises.

Everyone can look forward to it.

I talked about so many things without realizing it, and when I looked up, it was already late at night.

I hope you don’t mind some of the incoherence in the previous part - I’m really not good at writing this.

I just feel that it’s great to have readers like you, it’s great to be able to realize my original dream, it’s great to be able to write something I like and bring happiness to others.

In a person's life, it is quite a remarkable thing to succeed in one thing. I am very lucky to have found a way, and I will continue on this path - if the world I have built in the book brings you even a little bit of happiness and joy right now in front of the screen, it will be a great motivation and encouragement for me to continue writing.

The last one——

I wish you in front of the screen everything goes well, good health, happiness and joy.
