Chapter 21 Secretly Enjoying "It's just you."
"..."
Song Luoyun knew very well the role she should play in front of Fu Huaizhi.
She was obedient and compliant; no matter what he said or did, she was only responsible for going along with him and didn't need to have her own ideas.
So she said, "No, I have no other men besides you."
Fu Huaizhi paused on the keyboard, then slightly raised his eyes; her answer was clearly unexpected.
He probably found her unusually pleasing to the eye today, so he reached out and pulled her to his lap.
He wrapped his arms around her, manipulated the computer, and quickly produced a proposal.
"Do you remember what I said? The Fu family has recently recruited a new batch of polymer materials talents to prepare for the next five years of technology iteration. The research group is still short-staffed. Are you interested in participating?"
"What exactly is it?" Song Luoyun asked him.
"Optical chip".
During her undergraduate studies, she and her advisor primarily focused on inorganic non-metallic materials, including optical chips. At this stage, Song Luoyun can only observe and learn; she is not yet qualified to join the research group.
Another opportunity presented itself, and she tentatively asked, "Can I participate?"
“Didn’t I say?” Fu Huaizhi took her hand in his palm and played with it. “If you want, you can.”
Putting aside his controlling nature, he was extremely good to her, at least trying his best to change her life.
Song Luoyun then asked, "What materials do I need to prepare? I've never been in contact with this type of research group before, is it possible for me to have the opportunity?"
"I'll give you the contact information for the person in charge, you two can talk."
Fu Huaizhi reached out and touched his phone. Song Luoyun saw that she was pinned to the top of his contact list.
"How should I tell her?" she asked, looking at the business card in the chat box.
"Just talk to her directly. I've told her that my ideal partner is in this industry."
The object in his palm suddenly felt hot to the touch. Song Luoyun noticed his form of address: the object of his affection.
It seems like an overly naive expression.
Fu Huaizhi, however, seemed oblivious to the implied meaning of the address and continued, "But I need your help with something."
"you say."
“Fu’s new project is in great need of talent in related fields. When you go back to school, tell your advisor to invite him to join.”
Song Luoyun suddenly remembered something: "You mean Professor Liu Yi?"
"Um."
"Okay, I'll tell him about it."
The last time she went to the school, she saw Fu Huaizhi in Professor Liu Yi's office. The two seemed to have had a conflict, and the professor's attitude wasn't friendly. Something must have happened between them, but she knew he had his reasons for doing so, and she wouldn't ask further.
Her overly sensible behavior prompted Fu Huaizhi to reach out and rub her head. She remained seated on his lap, very close, which seemed somewhat absurd.
Fu Huaizhi, however, had no intention of letting go of her and began to casually fiddle with her hair.
Song Luoyun felt uncomfortable doing this and didn't know what else to do, so she watched him work. After a while, she finally managed to say, "Last time, about Liu Yeshan, did you help me?"
"yes."
"...I thought you wouldn't do that." After all, he hated Fu Zeming to the core, and probably wouldn't soften his heart because of his few requests.
"What, are you disappointed that it wasn't him who helped you?" Fu Huaizhi asked with a smile, but there was no real joy in it.
"No," Song Luoyun denied.
She didn't give a reason, and the man sneered, then said, "Are you still angry because he lied to you?"
"No, I won't be unhappy because of him." Song Luoyun had already prepared a perfect answer.
Fu Huaizhi gave her hand a rewarding squeeze.
I stayed from four o'clock to six o'clock. It was time to leave work, but the entire Fu company was still quiet. Only a handful of people were able to leave on time.
Song Luoyun yawned, and Fu Huaizhi finally let go of her and asked her what she wanted to eat for dinner.
She said, "Whatever."
He said, "Tell me what you want to eat, and I'll send someone to deliver it. You can wait for me at my place first. I have a business dinner tonight, so I'll be home later."
"good."
Song Luoyun wasn't used to being waited on, so she bought some things herself, went home to pack some items for the night, and then headed to the address Fu Huaizhi had given her.
They lived in completely different places. His place was in the city center, with strict security and a more upscale appearance. He told her his house code: 124578. It seemed like an easy number to crack, but it was actually a facial recognition lock. It indicated that someone other than the owner could unlock it and that the owner needed to confirm. After a while, the owner confirmed that the door was open.
Almost simultaneously, Song Luoyun received the message.
Fu Huaizhi: [Just a few things?]
Song Luoyun: [Okay, move it slowly.]
The house, which was four or five hundred square meters, was too empty with only one person living there. Song Luoyun had no doubt that her every move was being monitored, so she sat quietly in the living room, playing the role of a proper canary waiting for her husband to return.
When I'm bored, I open my phone and watch IELTS training videos to practice my weak speaking skills.
Later that evening, when she was tired, she picked up her phone to ask about his situation.
Fu Huaizhi: [On the road.]
He then played the instructional video on his phone aloud, got up, and went into the kitchen.
When she arrived, she glanced at the items on the shelf. It had everything from tableware to ingredients, but everything was arranged very cleanly, and there was no grease on the stove.
Knowing he'd likely be drinking at his social event, I opened a bottle of milk, heated it up, and poured it into a glass. I also took some grapes out of the refrigerator and washed them; these are all good ways to sober up.
I put these in the living room and was about to turn off the speakers when the front door was pushed open.
Stand up straight immediately and greet them dutifully: "You're back."
Fu Huaizhi was only wearing a shirt, the cuffs rolled up high, and his eyes were full of exhaustion.
Looking at the person who had waited for him all night, and the things prepared for him on the table, he couldn't control himself and pressed the person down on the sofa, kissing him passionately.
Song Luoyun was caught off guard and had lost the ability to move, so she could only try her best to respond to him.
Fu Huaizhi had indeed been drinking; he smelled strongly of alcohol on him. He must have a good tolerance for alcohol, but it was unclear how much he had drunk, as he was already quite intoxicated.
Fortunately, the kiss didn't last long. He let go of her and listened to the continuous sound of the lecture.
He frowned, seemingly losing interest: "It's so late, and you're still listening to this?"
"Hmm." Song Luoyun wiped her lips. "Anyway, I'm waiting for you to come back, and I'm just killing time anyway."
Fu Huaizhi felt a little happier. He walked to the coffee table, tossed a few grapes into his mouth, and then drank the milk in one gulp.
He added, "There's no need to wait here. If you're tired, go to the bedroom first."
Song Luoyun nodded, and only after receiving permission did she push open the bedroom door, lie obediently on the bed, and not touch anything else.
After taking a shower and dealing with some work matters, Fu Huaizhi entered the bedroom and found that the person was already asleep. He unconsciously slowed his pace, turned off the light, and even got into bed very quietly.
Finally, I held the person next to me and fell peacefully asleep.
...
The next day, when Song Luoyun's alarm clock rang, the hands around her waist were still there, and the man's chin was pressed against her head, completely pulling her into his arms.
She gently lowered her hand and stood up. Fu Huaizhi also stood up and buttoned up his clothes one button at a time.
He drove her to her company, and after they got out of the car, they entered different elevators and had no further contact, as if they were strangers.
On her first day at work, Song Luoyun mainly focused on getting to know the new environment. Her new colleagues were mostly recent graduates or people of similar age who had graduated a year or two ago, so they had things to talk about and got along better.
I had arranged to have lunch with a few people, and then I received a message from Fu Huaizhi.
Two words: 【Come up.】
She could only apologize to her colleagues and enter the elevator going up.
Fu Huaizhi called her upstairs for no particular reason; he simply sent someone to bring her lunch so she could eat there. He didn't touch a bite, focusing solely on his work.
After finishing her meal, Song Luoyun lay down on the sofa for a nap and unknowingly fell asleep. When she woke up, she found that the things on the table were still in the same place, so she thought of fulfilling her duty and picked up some food to take over.
The man raised an eyebrow in surprise, but calmly accepted her feeding him bite after bite. Seeing his eyebrows rise higher and higher, she knew that her performance today had satisfied him enough.
An ordinary day.
In the afternoon, Song Luoyun left work first, bought groceries, and planned to go home to cook, but bumped into the person she least wanted to see downstairs.
Fu Zemin stubbornly stayed there. He was thinner than the last time I saw him, and his mouth was covered with stubble, making him look several years older in an instant.
Upon seeing her, he quickly stood in front of her and said urgently, "Luo Yun, I've finally seen you! Don't go!"
Song Luoyun felt a lump in her throat and didn't want to talk to him, but he was completely blocking her way and she couldn't leave.
"Why did you come here?" she said impatiently.
“I went to your company to find you, but Eva said you resigned. Where did you go? Why did you quit a perfectly good job just like that? Even if it's because of me, you don't need to jeopardize your future out of spite.”
Song Luoyun said without any mercy, "It's not because of you, it's just that I found a better job."
"What job? Where? I waited for you here last night, but you didn't come back. Did you move? Where did you go?" Fu Zeming seemed even more unreasonable than before, determined to get the answers out of her.
Song Luoyun waved her hand: "What's it to you? I don't need to tell you."
"Luo Yun, don't treat me like this. You're my girlfriend, you promised me..." Fu Zeming insisted.
Thinking back on everything that had happened, she wanted to laugh: "Yes, I did promise you, but now I don't want to listen to you anymore, Fu Zeming. I'm asking you, why did you team up with Teacher Zhang Ming to make me lose the election?"
“I…” The thing Fu Zeming feared most finally happened.
"Luo Yun, didn't I tell you that you have to trust me? I have a solution for everything I do. I will arrange for you to study abroad and go to a better school."
"What gives you the right to make decisions for me?" Song Luoyun frowned deeply. "You cut off my only path and then build what you call the best bridge for me. Do you think I'll be grateful to you?"
“I know I made a mistake, I apologize to you, I know I was wrong.” Fu Zeming took her hand. “But you know, I really like you, I just want you to be by my side.”
"Am I not good to you? I give you everything you want, and I have never asked for anything in return. We could have continued, but Luo Yun, you ruined our relationship first. You had been in contact with my older brother for a long time. You betrayed me."
"What do you mean by betrayal? I'm single, why can't I have contact with other people?" Song Luoyun trembled slightly with anger.
"What's so good about my older brother? He's not normal at all! He often forces you to do anything, why don't you hate him?" Fu Zeming felt like he was going crazy, and intense jealousy was taking root in his heart.
"Is it because...you like being forced? Then I can do that too. I'll do the same thing he did to you."
After saying that, he pulled Song Luoyun against the wall and tried to kiss her.
