Chapter 39 Change: "She Likes You!"

Chapter 39 Change: "She Likes You!"

The first thought that flashed through Xu Luoxue's mind.

Has she gone mad?

How could I dare to throw away the gift that President Fu gave me in front of him?

She subconsciously turned her head to secretly observe the man.

His gaze was fixed on Song Luoyun the moment she appeared, and his emotions followed her every move.

He had his hands in his pockets, and apart from being lost in thought, he showed no signs of anything amiss, as if he wasn't annoyed by her behavior.

But Xu Luoxue could clearly feel that the surrounding air pressure had dropped considerably.

After throwing away all the trash, the girl left without looking back, not even glancing in their direction once.

But Xu Luoxue knew that she did it on purpose.

Many guesses flashed through my mind, and finally I came to a conclusion.

President Fu must have done something bad to Song Luoyun, and he's apologizing.

She was thrilled to have come to this conclusion and couldn't wait to go upstairs to chat with her and find out her secrets to taming men.

The air around him rippled, and the man, who stood like a statue, turned and got into the car.

"Bang—" He slammed the car door shut.

Although Xu Luoxue was startled, she felt sympathy instead.

Who told him not to treat the person he liked well? Now look what happened, he's suffered a setback.

She almost couldn't suppress her laughter; she clenched her teeth and tried her best to hold it in.

With a roar of the engine, the car started and sped away.

Xu Luoxue then dared to cover her mouth and laugh.

She then picked up her phone to check the message Song Luoyun had sent her, and jogged upstairs.

...

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you beforehand when I did this," Song Luoyun said, pulling over an extra chair in the dormitory to gesture for Xu Luoxue to sit down.

"What's the big deal? It's just a small matter," Xu Luoxue said, after all, she had gotten a juicy piece of gossip!

"He didn't make things difficult for you, did he?" Song Luoyun asked.

"No, he didn't say a word and just drove away." Xu Luoxue became more and more excited as she thought about it. "You didn't see his expression. His face turned dark from his chin to his forehead in an instant. His expression was that of someone who was frustrated but still had to maintain his image. Please, he's supposed to be a high-and-mighty guy. I felt so good watching him be so humble!"

Xu Luoxue has a very outgoing personality. When she discovers something interesting, she laughs louder than anyone else. Denise walked over curiously and, seeing Song Luoyun's still indifferent expression, instantly stopped smiling.

Isn't it funny?

Song Luoyun simply responded with a polite smile.

She said, "I did this just to tell him that I don't like his surveillance behavior and I hope he won't do it again."

Xu Luoxue said, "But I think he cares about you."

Song Luoyun said softly, "If someone were to pay attention to your every move every day, or even send someone to follow you, would you consider it concern?"

Xu Luoxue was speechless for a moment.

Thinking of many things, she finally asked the question she was most curious about: "Did you and President Fu ever date?"

“Yes.” Song Luoyun nodded, “But it’s not an ordinary relationship.”

"What do you mean?" Xu Luoxue pressed.

Denise, who could understand a little Chinese, knew what they were talking about, but fearing she might miss the key information, she pulled up a chair and quickly joined the conversation.

“I don’t understand if you speak in English.”

Song Luoyun looked at her and sighed softly.

Then he asked Xu Luoxue, "Do you understand English?"

Xu Luoxue shook her head: "Sister, you think too highly of me."

Left with no other option, she resorted to the most extreme measure—speaking in Chinese first and then translating into English.

Those things are in the past for her, and she's not afraid for others to know.

She then recounted her entanglement with Fu Huaizhi in detail.

"He's a piece of trash!" Denise, living in a country that yearns for freedom, could naturally empathize with the repression Song Luoyun had been experiencing during that time.

“I remember when we first met, you were like a stagnant pool, unable to find joy in anything. I told you that you must have gone through something that made you very sad.”

“It’s all better now,” Song Luoyun said.

“That’s now! He’s a complete bastard,” Denise said. “If I were you, I would go back and throw a divorce letter in his face and say, ‘I don’t want you anymore.’”

Song Luoyun smiled.

This is a good idea.

Xu Luoxue said, "Sister Luo Yun, but I've discovered that he really likes you."

“I know,” Song Luoyun said, “but I don’t need his affection.”

"Do you still care about him?" Xu Luoxue asked. "If you've truly let go, you shouldn't throw away the things he gave you. You could sell them for money; the watch he gave you is very expensive."

Xu Luoxue continued, "Actually, I always thought it was you who was provoking him."

Song Luoyun paused when she heard her first sentence, but as she continued, she smiled.

He teased her, saying, "No wonder you got scammed by your boyfriend."

"You! These are two different things, okay?" Xu Luoxue said angrily, her ears turning red. "I'm not love-struck, I genuinely like you and President Fu."

"But I'm sorry, I finally got out of here, and I don't intend to repeat the same mistake." Song Luoyun's attitude was firm.

Xu Luoxue suddenly wanted to say a few words for Fu Huaizhi: "What if he is different from before? President Fu saved me last time, so I am very sure what kind of person he is. Although he always speaks harshly and likes to boss people around, he is actually very friendly. At least from my time with him, I feel that he is a completely different person from the one you described."

Song Luoyun responded with a smile as always.

Fu Huaizhi is a very good actor. His outward appearance is just part of his plan. As long as she dares to reach out and respond, he will turn into a cloud of black mist and engulf her.

Xu Luoxue only chatted for a few minutes before quickly returning to her dormitory building, leaving only the two of them there. Denise painstakingly pieced together the key information from their Chinese conversation, her eyes narrowing into slits.

"The president of Fu's Group, right? I'll remember him. If he dares to come looking for you again, I'll stand up for you."

Song Luoyun reminded her, "It's better not to. The Fu family is very powerful, and you still have to study at Peking University."

“What am I afraid of? As long as he wants to pursue you, he has to give me, his good friend, face,” Denise said.

Song Luoyun almost burst out laughing.

In the following days, Xu Luoxue continued to deliver things to her.

Song Luoyun refused many times, but she said she didn't dare, because her every move was being monitored.

Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she said to Xu Luoxue, "Tell him that I don't want his charity, and I will get very angry if he keeps giving it to me."

After that, Fu Huaizhi never asked her for anything again.

Soon after, he was always waiting outside her dormitory building.

Song Luoyun would see him before class, but she wouldn't greet him, pretending not to know him, and would walk past him. Even after class, when she returned to her dormitory, he was still standing there, like a weathered rock, motionless.

Even if she stayed up all night working in the lab, he would stay up with her, but he never went up to help her.

Denise was even angrier than her.

She coldly tossed out a sentence, "I can't hold back anymore," and walked downstairs, with Song Luoyun unable to stop her.

It was after evening classes, and there were many people passing by. She didn't care about anything else and cursed a few times in English.

Finally, pointing her finger at his nose, she cursed, "Don't pretend to be so affectionate here! Where were you all this time? Now that you've lost her, you're all you know how to do is cling on and beg? Don't think this will make her like you. Let me tell you the truth, she finds it very repulsive and hates you more and more!"

Denise has this kind of personality; she can't stand being wronged, and she can't stand seeing the people around her being wronged.

But after she finished cursing, she remembered to look up at the man's face and was almost scared into backing away.

His face was pale, and his lips were deathly white.

Is he still alive?

"Don't try that on me. Let me tell you, Luo is determined to break up with you. She's living a very good life now. Even if you die here, no one will care!"

The words had barely left his mouth.

The man, who should have been invincible, closed his eyes and fell backward into the flower bushes.

A series of gasps came from the side.

Denise covered her mouth in surprise: "I didn't touch him."

Turning around for help, she happened to see Song Luoyun appearing from the doorway. She looked at the fallen man, stood there for a long time, and had a faint redness on her eyelids.

Several classmates worked together to get the person into the ambulance.

Denise, being the culprit, had to go to the hospital with him. Song Luoyun turned and went upstairs, not wanting to get involved in his affairs, but she kept looking down at her phone, trying to find out what was going on with him.

In the empty dormitory, Song Luoyun kept recalling Fu Huaizhi's state that night.

His eyes were empty, and his face was bloodless; he didn't look like a living person.

She was very familiar with that expression; before they broke up, she had practiced that look in front of the mirror countless times.

Now that this same approach is being used on him, is he faking it, or has he genuinely made himself into this state?

Denise didn't return until midnight. The dormitory lights were still on, and Song Luoyun was trying to distract herself by studying.

She walked over and her first words were, "I really didn't push him... I didn't curse him either, please don't be angry."

“I don’t think so,” Song Luoyun said with a smile.

But as soon as she finished speaking, she realized something was wrong. Fu Huaizhi's condition was the most talked-about topic in Beijing. If he suddenly collapsed on the Peking University campus that night, many people would definitely come and report it extensively. Denise's statement meant that she had been asked about it countless times that night.

Song Luoyun said guiltily, "I'm sorry, I've dragged you into this."

Denise was taken aback: "What do you mean by 'implicated'? It's more like I'm the one who implicated you."

Getting back to the main point, she said, "Mr. Fu is fine now. The doctor determined that his fainting was caused by prolonged high-intensity work combined with catching a chill outdoors."

"Okay." Song Luoyun tried her best to appear indifferent.

Denise said, "Lo, tell me, do you have feelings for him?"

"Do I look like some kind of despicable person?" Song Luoyun tried to ease the tension with a joke.

“I don’t like him.” She added at the end, “At least I don’t like his stubbornness.”

“That means you liked him,” Denise said bluntly, “but you weren’t a good match.”

Being with Fu Huaizhi, the word "like" was too extravagant; she simply didn't have time to think about it.

But she was only worried about Fu Huaizhi and didn't want anything to happen to him, that's all.

Not wanting to dwell on the topic, she said, "There will definitely be a lot of media coming after what happened tonight. You should take me with you when you go out. Besides, I'm afraid the Fu family will hold a grudge against you."

Denise exclaimed, "Are we going to start running for our lives now?"

Song Luoyun burst out laughing.

But this was clearly an overreaction. When I woke up, the trending topics were calm, and people were still coming and going downstairs as usual, with no one causing trouble.

Song Luoyun secretly checked various platforms and found that even the first few reports that appeared had been deleted, and those accounts had not been updated since.

She stood on the dormitory balcony and looked down at the spot where the man had fainted last time.

She thought that, given his personality, he would be eager to find out the information about the person who insulted him and punish her in various ways.

But he didn't; he did the exact opposite.

At this moment, Xu Luoxue's words inevitably come to mind:

He has changed a lot.
