Chapter 6 Patience "Don't bite..."
As Song Luoyun's hand climbed all the way up Fu Huaizhi's back, he released his grip on her teeth, letting her clumsily explore further.
He neither took the initiative nor responded; she lingered aimlessly here and there.
He laughed again, this time saying, "How clumsy!"
Song Luoyun blushed from the teasing and could only leave him when she felt it was appropriate.
This time she wasn't stopped, but Fu Huaizhi didn't loosen his grip on her either. He just licked his lips and smiled roguishly: "What am I going to do? I'm not satisfied yet."
She should have known when she closed her eyes that he would never agree.
But then I heard him say, "It's not that I can't let you go, it's just..."
He held her waist, making her stand on the ground, his five knuckles gripping her throat, forcing her to look up, and then bent down to place an aggressive kiss on her lips.
In her haste and force, she almost lost all her oxygen.
Fu Huaizhi quickly released her, turned his head to stare into her eyes, the fierceness in his expression faded slightly, replaced by a sense of lingering interest.
But he said, "If you learn well, I will test your learning results next time."
There will be a next time.
Because of this sentence, Song Luoyun was anxious for several days. In her dreams, her heart was pounding, and she kept repeating the same sentence to comfort herself: as long as she hides well enough, he will not have a chance to get close to her, and there will be no next time.
...
Song Luoyun sat at her workstation, rubbing her right eyelid incessantly. It had been twitching all morning, seemingly a harbinger of something bad happening.
There was a knock on her workstation, and Eva stood in front of her: "Wake up, it's time for a meeting."
She smiled, stood up, and saw a group of people walking outside the glass door, so she put her mask back on.
Today is the first meeting with Liu Yeshan's team. I heard that Liu Yeshan herself will be participating. Remembering their unpleasant encounter last time, she'd better try her best to avoid being recognized by him.
As the meeting room filled with pleasantries, Song Luoyun sat diagonally opposite the main speaker. Perhaps because she was wearing a mask, she looked somewhat unusual, and several people cast glances at her.
A colleague from her department whispered to her, "What's wrong?"
Song Luoyun shook her head: "My face is allergic, so I can only wear a mask."
No one doubted or cared, and the meeting began simultaneously.
The meeting was about developing a new editing strategy for the master tape. The images on the big screen kept flashing, and the intern could only keep her head down and take notes. Once, she looked up and suddenly saw Liu Yeshan's gaze fixed on her. Feeling guilty, she lowered her head and avoided any eye contact.
The meeting lasted for two hours. When it ended, the supervisor chatted with Liu Yeshan's team at the door, while the others were trapped inside and unable to move.
Song Luoyun twirled her pen, brainstorming editing ideas. Li Ziya stared at the door and whispered to her, "I heard his fans have blocked the downstairs. Ever since they learned about his dark history, they can't look at him the same way. I never thought he would have so many fans."
Song Luoyun shook his head and put his index finger to his lips, signaling her not to say anything.
As the saying goes, walls have ears. I'm still here, so they can't gossip to my face.
Those who work for others should have the awareness of being an employee; if they don't serve their clients well, they won't keep their jobs.
After those people finally left, Song Luoyun packed up her things and returned to her workstation. She then went to the break room to make a cup of coffee before taking off her mask to get some fresh air.
It was already lunchtime, and she hadn't had time to order takeout, so she had to walk downstairs to the office to buy it. She didn't like shopping in stores because she couldn't use coupons and it would cost her a lot more money.
As soon as the elevator reached the first floor, I was greeted by a large crowd of fans gathered at the entrance. I could only follow the crowd out through the side door, walk around the parking lot, and cross the street.
Song Luoyun had just reached the main road when she suddenly heard someone call her name from behind.
Turning around, I saw Liu Yeshan. He was wearing a mask and hat, but he was dressed in his signature puppy outfit—his nickname is Golden Retriever because fans say he is as warm and reliable as a golden retriever.
He walked up to her and said in a seemingly friendly tone, "Song Luoyun, right? I'm not mistaken, I just thought it was you."
Song Luoyun frowned, looking at him warily: "What is it?"
"It's nothing, I just wanted to treat you to a meal. Thank you for what you did last time." Liu Yeshan crossed his arms. There was no one else around him, perhaps that gave him the opportunity to get closer to her.
Song Luoyun said, "No need, besides, I didn't do anything."
If it weren't for work, she probably wouldn't have seen him again. But even with work, she didn't want to run into him.
She wrote her indifference so vividly that she thought Liu Yeshan should understand, and turned to leave.
But he grabbed her wrist and said persistently, "Don't go, I have something I want to ask you."
Song Luoyun quickly shook off his hand, leaving him no way out: "I don't have what you're looking for. You should go find someone else."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Liu Yeshan suddenly turned her head to look at a figure across the street, her eyes sharp: "Damn, who is that?"
She followed his gaze and saw a person darting away from the bushes, clutching a camera in their hand.
They're paparazzi.
A chill ran down her spine, but Liu Yeshan, as if she had been given leverage, said to her, "I need you to say a few good words about me to President Fu so he'll stop targeting me. If you agree, I'll have someone buy what that paparazzi has. If you don't, the paparazzi will make a big deal out of our relationship, and I'll issue a statement saying you seduced me. I have many female fans, and they'll speak up for me, but you're defenseless. Do you think that will have a bigger impact on you or on me?"
"Are you threatening me?" Song Luoyun's arms trembled with anger. "Your affairs have nothing to do with me. Go ahead and do it, and see if I'm afraid."
“I didn’t mean to threaten you, I wanted to discuss this.” Liu Yeshan persisted. “I have no other choice. I recently heard rumors that someone is investigating me. Upon investigation, it turns out to be President Fu. He has control over everything in our company. We can’t fight him. If he makes a move, we’re finished!”
He tried to grab Song Luoyun's hand again, but this time she was quick and dodged it.
He continued, "I know you and President Fu have a special relationship. I guessed it that day. If you talk to him, he will definitely listen to you."
"You think you've threatened me and have the right to negotiate with me?" Song Luoyun said, enunciating each word clearly. "You wish. Solve your own problems and don't expect me to help you."
...
Having finally broken free from Liu Yeshan's grasp, Song Luoyun's good mood was ruined. She lost her appetite and didn't want to eat anything, so she bought an ice cream at the supermarket, ate it while sitting at the entrance, and her mood calmed down a bit.
I don't know when she developed this habit, but when she's in a bad mood, she likes to eat cold and sweet things.
Thinking about what Liu Yeshan said still makes me feel depressed.
He can only blame himself for offending Fu Huaizhi. That man is like a living curse; anyone who offends him will be vengeful and will not have a good ending.
It was so terrible that she didn't even know what Liu Yeshan had done to offend him.
However, she saw the "living curse" again the following evening.
Hengyu has a partnership with the Fu family, and every now and then the two groups organize a banquet. However, the number of seats at the banquet is limited, so only a portion of people can be selected from the two companies to attend. This time, Song Luoyun's post-production department was selected.
Everyone was especially excited upon hearing the news, and they were already discussing what clothes to wear and what makeup to put on. Liu Junsheng specifically instructed: "President Fu will also be attending the banquet tonight. Everyone should hurry up and finish their work, and make sure everyone is present so that the company can see our true colors!"
In short, this effectively shut down Song Luoyun's idea of taking leave.
Her right eyelid started twitching again, and no matter how hard she tried to control it, she couldn't stop it, as if it foreshadowed a trap that night.
Later in the afternoon, Song Luoyun was called to a meeting, which lasted from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. While the people outside had already left for the meeting, they were still working overtime.
Li Ziya was getting impatient, but dared not say it outright. She whispered to Song Luoyun, "Why do the special effects team and the post-production team usually have such long meetings? They're obviously jealous that we got a spot and are deliberately dragging out the time so we can't go."
Song Luoyun gave her a helpless smile.
But I was overjoyed. I thought it best to keep delaying until it didn't work out.
Half an hour later, the other party ran out of things to say and had to adjourn the meeting. The remaining people immediately went back to pack their things and prepare to leave.
Just as Song Luoyun was about to say it was too late to go, Liu Junsheng came out and said, "You've finally finished your meeting. Hurry up and leave, or it will be too late."
Song Luoyun was practically dragged into the car, and after a half-hour journey, they arrived at the venue just as the banquet was beginning.
She immediately noticed the table in front of the central relief wall, its tabletop covered with a distinctive dark tablecloth, and the person there was seated at the head of the banquet hall.
They dared not look in that direction again. The group searched around inside, only to find that there were no empty tables left.
"The leadership has arranged an extra table, so there aren't enough seats on the other tables, but there's still one empty table," the waiter told them.
Looking in the direction he was pointing, we saw the main table.
The waiter quietly told them, "Even the leadership doesn't dare to dine with that person. There are only the two company presidents and vice presidents at that table now, and we can still arrange for six more people to join."
"...Are you crazy? Even the leadership wouldn't dare, how could we possibly have the guts?" someone nearby said.
Another person said, "Actually, it's not quite the same. The president can directly manage them, but we're just having a regular meal. They can't fire us just because we didn't toast them."
Others chimed in, "Yes, and it's quite prestigious to have dinner with President Fu."
After a long standoff, they finally decided to go over. As the director, Liu Junsheng took the lead in asking the person in the main seat what he thought. After receiving permission, he invited everyone to sit down.
Song Luoyun hesitated for a long time.
The man was right in front of her, and the distance between them was already enough to frighten her. Now, she was standing behind him, and although he wasn't looking at her, it felt like there was another pair of eyes staring at her from behind, making it difficult for her to move.
By the time they realized what was happening, all the seats were already taken, and the last one available was the chair next to Fu Huaizhi.
"Luo Yun." Li Ziya called her softly, her eyes filled with apology. She didn't want to leave Song Luo Yun behind, but no one wanted to sit next to President Fu. Everyone was eager to grab a seat, so it was first come, first served.
“I’ll find someone else to share a table with,” Song Luoyun mouthed to her.
She just wanted to run away, but the next second she saw the man turn to the side and reach out to pull out the empty chair.
At the same time, he added, "Sit down."
"..." Song Luoyun said, forcing a smile, "No need to trouble yourself, I..."
"Song Luoyun!" Liu Junsheng hurriedly went to her side and dragged her back. "How can you be so insensible? President Fu personally invited you and you still dare to refuse. Go back now, or you'll suffer the consequences."
She then turned to Fu Huaizhi and said, "Mr. Fu, I'm sorry, her name is Song Luoyun. She's a new intern and doesn't quite know the rules yet."
Fu Huaizhi smiled faintly: "It's alright, it's a good thing that young girls have high aspirations."
Song Luoyun closed her eyes and took a deep breath. To her left were a constant stream of polite words, and to her right was a man's deep voice, mostly just a "hmm," but it made her heart race.
She tried to move the chair in the opposite direction from the man, but a hand landed on her seat, brushing against the skin of her buttocks, almost touching her leg.
She didn't even dare to stop him, letting him lock her in his spot.
“You…” Song Luoyun said softly.
Turning around, she saw the waiter on her other side, carrying a lobster from a cart and placing it in the center of the round table.
The waiter left, and that hand never touched her again.
Conversations could be heard throughout the banquet hall, but the main table remained silent. No one dared to touch the first pair of chopsticks, and everyone pretended to be busy, whispering in each other's ears.
Fu Yuxuan watched everyone's expressions with great interest, finally fixing his gaze on the tempting lobster in the center, stroking the bowl and chopsticks in his hands.
When she couldn't stand it anymore, she said to Fu Huaizhi, "I told you not to act so serious all the time. Look, no one even dares to eat with you anymore."
He leaned over and picked up a piece of meat, but the others still didn't dare to eat it, all looking at Fu Huaizhi.
Fu Yuxuan shrugged helplessly and gestured to the people around him: "Eat up, or they'll go crazy."
"..." Fu Huaizhi frowned, glancing at Song Luoyun out of the corner of his eye. She was sitting upright, her hands properly placed on her lap, but her eyes were drooping, looking bored and lost in thought.
He lifted his chopsticks, the piece of meat he picked up lingering in mid-air for a moment.
In the end, he did nothing but present the meat to himself.
Fu Yuxuan said to the others, "Eat, eat, eat. There's no need for so many restrictions. Just be happy."
He was the eldest son of the second branch of the Fu family. He was playful and unruly by nature. Unfortunately, he was later sent to assist Fu Huaizhi in managing the Fu family business. Fu Huaizhi was cold to outsiders, but he was warm, so he often played the role of the good cop.
"Mr. Fu, let me pour you some wine." Liu Junsheng brought over the red wine. At the moment, he was the highest-ranking person, and he wanted to seize the opportunity to make his presence felt in front of him.
Fu Huaizhi tapped the table twice, and Liu Junsheng poured wine for Song Luoyun on his left, but then went around to her other side, clearly having something to say to her.
"Stay next to President Fu, offer him more drinks and chat with him for a bit. Don't always look like a dead man."
“…If you want, you can switch seats with me,” Song Luoyun said calmly.
Liu Junsheng was displeased: "If we can appease him, we'll all have a chance to get promoted. You don't want to earn this little salary for the rest of your life, do you? I'll fill your glass up a bit, and you can say a few more words."
Song Luoyun grew impatient. After Liu Junsheng finished pouring the wine, she stood up with a forced smile and said, "No need, I'm allergic to alcohol and can't drink it."
He spoke a little loudly, and the people on both sides could hear him. Fu Huaizhi and Fu Yuxuan looked over at the same time, and Liu Junsheng wanted to say a few more sarcastic remarks, but seeing this, he had no choice but to give up.
"There's no need to make things difficult for people. We're a legitimate company, we don't have that outdated drinking culture," Fu Yuxuan said jokingly, though he was actually fed up with these self-important guys who always brought bad reputations to the company.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Fu Huaizhi reaching out to call for a waiter. He raised an eyebrow and asked him, "What is it?" But Fu Huaizhi didn't respond and continued drinking.
The waiter returned quickly and placed another bottle on the table: "This is non-alcoholic champagne, please enjoy."
Song Luoyun didn't intend to touch it, but after a moment of distraction, she was surprised to find that Fu Huaizhi took the bottle of red wine in front of her, poured it into his own glass, and then took a tissue and slowly wiped the glass.
Fu Yuxuan suddenly looked at Fu Huaizhi.
What kind of move is he making now?
Unable to come up with a solution, Liu Junsheng, sitting opposite him, couldn't hold back any longer and politely declined, saying, "This is not appropriate, President Fu. Let Xiao Luo do it herself."
“It’s alright.” Fu Huaizhi didn’t stop his actions. “It’s just pouring wine, a small favor.”
Upon hearing his refusal, Liu Junsheng revealed a satisfied smile, looking at Song Luoyun with admiration.
Fu Yuxuan took everything in and shook his head.
The champagne was poured into a glass and pushed towards Song Luoyun. The waiter hadn't brought a champagne glass, so he used the original red wine glass to pour it for her; the golden champagne didn't contain a single drop of red.
As for her wine, it was in his glass, and he poured it into his mouth without any disgust.
Song Luoyun couldn't eat. She counted down the seconds, and even the most expensive dishes tasted bitter to her. She tried her best to swallow, and after halfway through, she made an excuse to go to the restroom.
It was indeed a trap.
As if it were all preordained, countless inexplicable coincidences pushed her back into his life.
She could only watch his every move with trepidation, fearing he might do something to embarrass her.
I wiped the water droplets off my face, threw the trash can in it, and sat at the door for another ten minutes before getting up and going back inside.
Just as she was about to push open the door to the main venue, a strong force grabbed her wrist and pulled her to a corner.
Before she could cry for help, her lips were sealed shut, the strong taste of red wine fermenting in her mouth, and the eager scent of ambergris enveloping her.
The familiar scent told her who it was.
He grabbed her chin and kissed her passionately, while she placed her hands on his waist, trying to push him away, but he held her tighter and his movements became more forceful.
"Don't bite..." Song Luoyun pleaded, struggling to squeeze out two weak sounds from her oxygen-deprived madness.
You can't bite it; your colleagues are inside, they'll see.
The man paused for a moment, then, as if as punishment, let the smell of blood spread.
Song Luoyun's eyelashes trembled, and he squeezed out a tear. He bit the inside of his lip, so others couldn't see it, but it hurt a lot.
He held her in his hands, gently tapped her twice, and stared at her with reddened eyes.
“You asked for it,” he said, his voice soft, yet the breath landing on her earlobe. “You’ve been in front of me the whole time.”
He wiped away the tear with his fingertip, moving it along the bridge of his nose to the corner of his eye, and gently rubbed it.
"He still has that same expression."
As if unable to resist, he kissed her again.
