Chapter 121 Meeting the Parents?

"Childish behavior!"

Ning Yizhan gave a soft "humph".

Qiu Hu stood up and started looking left and right again, extremely curious.

"What are you looking for? The household registration book? It's not with me, it's with my mom!" Ning Yizhan lay half-reclined on the bed, looking at the curious Qiu Hu.

"No, I was just checking what's in your room."

His room was large, but he didn't have much stuff. Apart from the bed, there were only a few wardrobes and a huge single sofa that looked like a bed. She saw it the first time she came. It could have seated several people, but it was just a single sofa.

Then only the display case was somewhat full, filled with various figurines, and Qiu Hu looked at the various character figurines.

"I used to be a bit of a chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) person. There are many more in the next room. Do you like them? I'll take you to see them."

"No, I was just curious. Your room looks quite empty." It doesn't look like the room of a young master.

"I feel it's empty? I just think it's better to have more space," Ning Yizhan turned his head and thought for a moment, "Then next time I'll get all our photos and make a photo wall?"

"No," she thought, feeling utterly hopeless.

She was still interested in the single sofa and stared at it for a long time.

"You like it?"

"I'm curious." Qiu Hu tried sitting down and found it quite comfortable.

"Oh, I ordered it myself, is it a gift for you?"

"Need not".

But seeing that Qiu Hu seemed to like it quite a bit, Ning Yizhan still planned to have another one custom-made and place it in the master bedroom of Guyue Garden, which would be a good opportunity to replace the sofa in the master bedroom.

They didn't stay in the room for long before the servants called them to dinner, and they went downstairs without delay.

Sure enough, the Ning family had all arrived and were sitting there waiting for them to start the meal! Hearing footsteps, they all turned around or looked up at her and Ning Yizhan. Good heavens! This is going to be a nightmare for those with social anxiety!

"Ah Hu, come sit down and eat!" Ms. Lianzhi was practically ready to come up and greet her.

The seating arrangement is... quite reasonable?

Old Master Qiu sat in the main seat, with Lian Zhi, Qiu Hu, and Ning Yizhan sitting to his right in order, and Ning Shuzai and Ning Yijia to his left.

Now, Qiu Hu felt surrounded by warmth. Lian Zhi would occasionally urge her to eat, and Ning Yizhan would, as always, serve Qiu Hu her favorite dishes.

Ning Yizhan looked disgusted at Lianzhi's behavior. It seemed like his mother wanted to steal his wife away from him. He quickly called out, "Mom, you eat your own food, don't bother!"

Lianzhi understood what her son meant, "Hmph, I know."

After a brief silence, Lianzhi glanced at Ning Yijia, then seemed to remember something. She put down her chopsticks, grabbed Qiu Hu's free hand, and said, "Ah Hu, thank you so much for saving Ning Yijia last time. If Jiajia hadn't told me about it, I wouldn't have known!"

"You're welcome, Auntie," Lian Zhi said. Even Qiu Hu had almost forgotten about it, which meant that quite a long time had passed.

Before Lian Zhi could say anything, Ning Yizhan interrupted, "What is it?"

Lianzhi replied, "It was during your Uncle Shao's wedding anniversary! Jiajia was almost bullied, and Ahu and her friends saved Jiajia."

"I really didn't know about this," Ning Yizhan said. No one knew about it, and probably very few people did. Shao Jin hadn't told him either, so even Shao Jin probably didn't know.

"I don't know how you act as an older brother."

"..."

After the meal, Qiu Hu ate his fill, thanks to the enthusiasm of the two of them.

Qiu Hu stayed with Ning Yizhan for a while longer before Lian Zhi pulled him away to chat. Ning Yizhan was also pulled away by Old Master Qiu to play chess, saying he was addicted to the game. Ning Shuzai had to go back to his parents' home for some business, and Ning Yijia was nowhere to be found.

At first, the only sound in the study was the clinking of chess pieces.

"You like Qiu Hu so much, you've made up your mind about her!" Old Master Qiu glanced at Ning Yizhan and asked.

Ning Yizhan didn't look up, only replying with a "hmm".

Grandpa Qiu didn't ask any more questions. After a long time, when the game of chess was almost over, Ning Yizhan said again, "She's fine."

Ning Yizhan placed another piece, saying, "You've lost."

"..."

"I'm leaving now, Grandpa. I'll come see you again next time!" Ning Yizhan was about to get up when the old man called out to him, "Hey, hey, hey, you're leaving just like that?"

"Yeah, let's go! If we don't leave, my mom will eat my wife!"

Ning Yizhan left the study without waiting for Old Master Qiu to stop him.

"A son is like a tree that cannot be kept at home once he grows up!" Old Master Qiu silently began to tidy up the chessboard.

Ning Yizhan walked out of the study and was about to go downstairs when Ning Yijia called out to him, "Brother."

"What's wrong?"

"I'm going to F country for a competition in a few days, and I might not be back for several months." Ning Yijia appeared calm, but was actually very nervous, afraid that Ning Yizhan would turn around and leave.

"Oh," Ning Yizhan said, seeing that she seemed to have more to say, and waited for her to speak, but she didn't. "Is there anything else you want to say?"

"Brother, I wish you and Qiu Hu happiness!" Ning Yijia had been thinking a lot lately. She had always been prejudiced against Qiu Hu, believing her to be a scheming woman who had caused her brother to lose his position as heir three years ago. Her brother was so outstanding, yet he was manipulated by this woman, Qiu Hu. In reality, Qiu Hu wasn't so bad after all. Although she was quite cold, she and her brother were somewhat well-matched.

"Okay, thank you!"

"...", she now felt that her brother was also quite cold, did he talk so little?

"Is there anything else? If not, I'm leaving." He still wanted to take Qiu Hu away from his mother, that dangerous woman.

Seeing that Ning Yijia seemed to be alright, she didn't say anything, turned around and started to leave right on time, but Ning Yijia called out to her again, her voice still a little choked up.
