Chapter 21 Spirit
A crescent moon hung like a hook above the rock-cutter tribe, stretching the shadows cast by the low hills into a distorted shape.
Garus's dragon eyes were deep and dark in the night. He lowered his body, and the dark red patterns on his obsidian-like dragon scales shimmered faintly.
"Your deaths will soothe my unease."
With a flick of its tail, it slapped the goblin warrior who had jumped up behind it into a radiating mess of mud. The leather armor it wore, which was carefully tanned and protected by alchemical runes, was like waterlogged paper, crumbling at the slightest touch.
"Damn dragons!"
Reflected in his eyes the firelight and the ravaged territory, Broken Tooth Goruk realized what was happening and let out an angry growl.
Buzz buzz buzz!
The engine starts, and the black oil burns rapidly, turning into energy.
Black oil – formed from the sedimentation of a monster's body over a long period of time, is a black, viscous substance and is the basic energy source used in many alchemical tools. It is similar to petroleum, but contains far more and stronger energy than petroleum.
The area is incredibly rich in resources such as black oil, magic stones, and source crystals.
This is a key factor in the extremely high level of alchemy development on the planet Bernardo.
As the engine roared to life.
Steam billowed from the giant miner's body, and the alchemical runes engraved on its steel plates lit up one by one. Its heavy body stomped across the ground and charged toward the red iron dragon.
If on the ground.
If it's on the ground.
Riding the giant-armed miner, Broken Tooth Goruk, he was confident he could kill any young dragon.
Moreover, given the intelligence, arrogance, and conceit of young dragons, they might forget their advantage of flight and remain on the ground to fight their enemies.
"I'll tear off its wings first, and by the time it tries to fly back into the sky, it'll be too late!"
Broken Tooth Goruk had already devised a battle strategy.
The Giant Arm Miner is not a combat-type alchemical golem, but its massive arms possess the formidable strength to smash rocks into dust and bend steel, making it more than capable of engaging a young dragon in a head-on battle.
On the other side.
Groz, the shaman of the biting tribe, had a hunched back. At the very top, and the largest, abscess resembling a camel's hump, burst open, and from it spewed out a huge, dark purple spider, accompanied by disgusting fluid.
This spider has dark red compound eyes, a jet-black exoskeleton, and legs covered in tiny, sharp hairs; it is about the size of a goblin's head.
At first glance, it appears lifelike, like a physical being, but in reality, it is a spirit nurtured by Groz, and also the goblin shaman's primary means of attack.
Spider Spirit Web!
Groz cast a spell, and the spider spirit lay on its back, opening its mouth to spew out a tough, huge, sticky, and venomous web towards Garros.
On one side is a net formed by magic.
On the other side came the menacing giant-armed miners.
Galos slightly bent his limbs, the muscles beneath his dragon scales taut like steel wires, and then instantly unleashed a powerful force, simultaneously flapping his dragon wings.
call!
The strong wind carried dust, creating air currents that spread in all directions.
Before the wire mesh fell, the young iron dragon soared into the sky.
Goruk, piloting the giant arm of the miner, looked up at the sky, helpless except to stare blankly, as the alchemical golem had no means of attacking the air.
"Was it scared away by me, just like the red baby dragon back then?"
Having scared away two baby dragons in succession, Goruk felt that he had reached the pinnacle of power, and perhaps he could even be fearless against young dragons.
"Call upon me, mighty Goruk! He has once again driven back the dragon!"
The goblin roared.
The other goblins, unaware of the situation, instinctively echoed, praising Goruk's strength and bravery.
Only Groz knew that this matter was not over yet.
"Watch out! It's still here!"
Garros ascended to a high altitude, looking down at the tiny goblin tribe below.
With its wings flapping and tearing through the air, it swooped down, the airflow contacting the feather-like scales on its wing membranes, producing a piercing shriek.
When the distance is about the same.
Garus's wings folded into a cone shape, and the dark red patterns on the surface of his scales shone faintly, as if flames were flowing on steel.
The Red Iron Dragon, resembling a small, dark red meteorite, descended from the sky with immense pressure, crashing down upon its conspicuous target: the Giant Arm Miner.
A sense of fear crept into Broken Tooth Goruk's heart.
But this fear was quickly shattered by his recently inflated confidence.
It manipulated the giant-armed miner to raise a pair of enormous arms to meet the red iron dragon, while excitedly shouting, "My people, witness for me, witness the moment when the mighty Goruk slays the dragon!"
The goblins looked at Broken Tooth Goruk with eyes of worship.
Its confident tone even infected Groz, making him think that this guy might actually be capable.
collapse!
The moment the red iron dragon collides with the giant-armed miner.
The ground cracked in a spiderweb pattern, and the shockwave sent all the goblins flying, crashing into the mountainside or their companions' weapons, resulting in heavy casualties.
The eight-meter-tall alchemical golem resembled a can crushed by a giant, its riveted steel plates twisted and cracked, spraying black oil like blood plasma.
The scream of Broken Tooth Goruk was cut short as a broken metal tube pierced its throat, pinning the goblin to the twisted control panel.
The last thing it saw was Galus rising from the flames and smoke.
"You're dead! Run!"
A goblin had just gotten up from the ground and was yelling to run for his life, but before he could run a few steps, his head flew high into the air. His expression of terror froze on his face, and he saw his headless body still twitching its fingers in vain.
The Garus dragon's wings spread out like two giant guillotines as it skimmed low over the tribal camp.
Wherever the wings passed, goblins, tents, stone houses, weapon racks, and everything else were neatly cut apart.
Whoosh!
A black shadow suddenly leaped in from the side.
Garus swung his claws, but when he struck, he felt no physical contact whatsoever.
The spider spirit leaped onto Garos's back, its sharp fangs biting down into the gaps between Garos's dragon scales, disappearing completely into them. More accurately, it didn't tear through Garos's scales and flesh, but rather seemed to melt directly into them.
A stinging sensation came from the bite.
The spider spirit formed by the spell ignored his hard dragon scales and caused him damage. Although the damage was not high, it still made Garos frown.
"My resistance to magical attacks is still not high enough."
Dragons' magic resistance increases with age; adult dragons can ignore many spells, but young dragons have very limited magic resistance.
"Moreover, pure physical attacks are not effective against spirits or magical essences."
Spell-like skill - Small Fireball!
Whoosh! A small fireball condensed beside Garus, struck the spider spirit, and blasted it to ashes.
His claw strikes are much more powerful than the small fireballs, but they are not as effective against spider spirits.
"We also need to delve deeper into spell-like skills; I currently know too few."
Garus thought to himself.
He strives to make himself unparalleled in defense, incredibly fast, and have an extremely high health pool, making him difficult to kill. However, this does not mean that Garos wants to be a 'brute' who relies solely on his powerful physique for close combat.
Dragons are born sorcerers, and he will not give up this advantage.
However, this kind of adaptation and evolution is much slower than physical evolution. Galos has only mastered a few spell-like skills ahead of other young dragons.
