Chapter 270 Winter Night Nap

Overlook Tower Academy, night.

Towers dotted the mountain range, their pale grey stone walls cold to the touch. White snowflakes clung to the rough surfaces, corners, and summits of the towers, blending them into the night sky. Only a few yellow lights shone through the thick glass, revealing a hint of life.

Her dark grey coat was covered with snowflakes. Lan Lier slowly descended from the air in her thick boots, and then stood on the observation deck outside the 8th floor of the tower.

First, push open the wooden door on the observation deck and go inside, then close the wooden door to prevent the wind and snow from outside from blowing in.

After entering the tower and walking to the door next to the stairwell, she took out a copper key with engraved patterns from her bosom and inserted it into the stone door. As a burst of light flowed across the door, the door lock made a slight sound and then she gently pushed it open.

Walking through the door is the common lounge on their floor. The lounge is connected to four thick wooden doors, corresponding to four bedrooms. Each bedroom can sleep two people and has a separate bathroom.

Compared to the cramped central campus, the facilities at the four colleges were much more spacious and ample. After all, surrounded by sparsely populated mountains and land, the school had no shortage of space for additional buildings, which was indeed a comforting aspect.

There were already three students in the common room, all girls, of course. Two of them sat at a brown wooden table, writing and drawing quickly in the candlelight. In the huge common room, the only sounds were the slight crackling of the flames in the fireplace and the rustling sound of pens scratching across paper.

The remaining student stood by the cabinet against the wall, holding a kettle and adding hot water to his cup. As the boiling water drew a small arc and fell into the black porcelain cup, a sound of water was heard, and then hot steam came out, and the rich aroma of tea began to spread in the room.

"Lanli is back, good evening." Holding a steaming cup of black tea, the girl in a brown and white dress walked slowly towards her.

"Would you like some hot tea? I still have some."

"You're welcome, Antoli. Is Lingxin back?" Lanli brushed off the remaining snow on her clothes and took off her thick coat, revealing the slightly tight cashmere sweater underneath. Then she sat at the table and looked at the structural drawings drawn by several roommates.

Antoli brewed another cup of tea and placed it in front of Lanli before saying, "Lingxin has been studying Sequence 6 advancement with her instructor lately. She's almost there, so she's probably been quite busy lately."

"Thank you~" Lan Li picked up the hot teacup, took a small sip, felt it was too hot, and put it down for the time being.

"We're almost entering the fourth grade. Time flies so fast. It seems like it was just yesterday that Sister Direla graduated."

"Yes, when I first entered the Tower Academy, I encountered many problems, and it was Sister Tirela who helped me solve them." Antoli nodded, then sat down with her back to the fireplace. Her figure seemed a little blurry under the firelight, and the two talked in a low voice.

Lan Li rested her arms on the thick wooden table warmed by the fire and said to Antoli, "My instructor suggested that I don't advance this year. I should stabilize first and then enter the fourth grade next year."

"Although the instructor means well, this will mean I'll have to separate from Lingxin and be a grade behind her. It doesn't feel good." Lan Li held up her face and slowly expressed her thoughts.

"Lan Li, this is truly a happy worry. The two of us are still worried about this year's final project, and we are destined not to be able to advance to Sequence 6 this year." The two girls who were drawing next to her turned around, complained a few words, and continued to draw complex and precise drawings.

The four people sitting in the room were all Sequence 5, the oldest of whom was only 20 years old. In the outside world, they would all be considered rare geniuses, but in Emenas, they were only considered above average. Although Lan Li could advance to Sequence 6 by the end of the year, the risk was too great, so the teacher advised her to slow down for now.

The bright yellow flames of the fireplace burned, bringing waves of heat and dispelling the surrounding chill. They cast the shadows of several girls on the opposite wall, and these long shadows swayed constantly with the girls' movements. The wall cabinets on the side also changed light and dark, and the professional books with complex and lengthy titles were coated with a layer of warm color by the firelight.

"Okay, let's not talk about this anymore. The 'Winter Festival Gala' is about to begin. Let's relax first and work hard again in a few days." Lan Li said to her friend, then she lay down on the table, ready to take a nap.

"Don't sleep here, get up, take a shower, and go back to the bedroom."

"Well, I don't want to move. The water is too cold in winter, and it's too troublesome to boil water myself." Lan Li lay on the table and spoke like a dried salted fish.

"Lan Li is being lazy again. I guess we can only wait for Ling Xin to come back and drag her in." The two people next to them whispered, and then watched Lan Li's eyes slowly open and close, and finally close completely.

"What a slack!"

--------------------

After class, Roxelles returned to his residence. It was a relatively quiet place with a fire burning inside. The small yard outside was filled with snow, with only scattered green grass leaves and vines showing through the snow.

She was wearing a comfortable pure white dress and sitting on a wooden chair, facing the flames of the fireplace. A thick book was placed on her knees wrapped in white cotton socks. As her white fingers stroked the pages, the pale yellow pages turned, and the black handwriting was clearly reflected in the firelight.

"The exact origins of Chaos Vortexes are unknown. Their earliest appearance can be traced back to the age of giants and dragons. It is said that the Giant King's court at that time permanently eliminated several Chaos Vortexes."
