Black Rock Principality.
Jenna rode a horse quickly on the road. After a day's journey, she felt tired, but fortunately there was a village not far ahead. She had been to that place a few years ago and remembered that there was a field surrounded by a low stone wall next to the village.
The horse's hooves stepped on the weedy road, stirring up dust and grass debris. The air was a little chilly as night approached.
As Jenna neared her remembered destination, a firelight appeared in the distance, and chaotic shouting gradually became clearer. Her heart tightened, and she whipped her horse, then sped forward.
The village in my memory is currently burning. Flames rise from under the wet straw, bringing with them thick green smoke, slowly drying out everything around it, while the village is a scene of chaos.
A group of men in chain mail and iron armor were forcing some villagers out of their houses with swords and guns, looting their coins and various properties.
A bearded soldier kicked the old woman on the ground.
"Tell me, where is the other stuff?" He looked impatient.
"Haha, this girl is pretty. Come with me tonight." On the other side, the wretched soldier tied up a struggling woman with a rope and touched her all over.
"Tsk, you still want to resist." An iron spear was pulled out from a middle-aged man, bringing out a burst of thick blood, and then the dead body slowly fell beside the house. The fire illuminated the astonished and unwilling face, and time seemed to freeze here.
These fully armed soldiers dragged the villagers out of their houses one by one, and beat or stabbed them with weapons if they showed any resistance. Curses, wailing, and the sound of whips could be heard one after another in the burning village.
They were driven aside, made to kneel on the ground and be guarded, while other soldiers moved the things in the house and under the cellar to the open space on the other side and loaded them onto carts.
Some elderly people were killed directly by these people with weapons, while young men and women were tied up under the threat of cold weapons. The cries of children and women and the sobbing of the crowd were particularly desolate against the backdrop of the flames.
Jenna's eyes widened as she watched the scene in front of her. Although many of those villagers were only met once, in her impression they were all honest and simple ordinary people. Why were they treated like this?
She rode her horse into the village, dismounted, gripped the scabbard tightly in her hand, and walked forward with heavy steps.
"What are you doing!?"
"What?"
Several soldiers turned to look at the girl who had suddenly arrived. They saw that she was wearing a leather jacket with a long sword hanging from her belt. Judging from her attire, she must have come from a good family and had some martial arts skills.
A small leader came over, spear in hand, and said to the strange girl, "You'd better stay out of this. These people are diehard supporters of the Bowhunters. Many of our brothers have died fighting them."
"But what you did is too cruel." The girl looked at the scenes in front of her, feeling a lump in her chest and one hand gradually clenched.
"So cruel, so funny. Where did you come from, young lady who knows nothing about the world?" The soldier leader whistled and said disdainfully.
"That's how war works. If they win, they'll treat us the same way. Do you really think those 'bow hunters' are good people? You've been ripped off by them before, haven't you? During the famine, a bag of rice cost one gold coin. It's amazing how they can sell it."
He guessed that the girl on horseback was probably a member of a younger generation of a mercenary family, considered a member of the Long Spear Sect. After all, there weren't many girls in the local Bowhunter Sect who practiced swordplay and horseback riding. They would be taught by the elders to learn weaving and other labors.
"That's it, little girl, you should go back and feed your baby instead of running around with a knife, hahaha." Some soldiers around also joined in the fun.
"Maybe if I find a man to marry and have children soon, I won't have to think about all this nonsense." These soldiers didn't think they were doing anything evil at all, but rather just doing their normal job. They were originally mercenaries traveling around, and they were completely unfamiliar with their fellow citizens in Black Rock Principality, so they felt no psychological burden in killing them.
Besides, isn’t that what war is all about? If it weren’t for these lucrative benefits, who would be willing to risk their life?
Now that they had won, they naturally wanted to squeeze every inch of the enemy's wealth out of it. The property, women, livestock, and fields would all be theirs. If it weren't for these reasons, why would they follow those mercenary captains and charge forward?
"You!..." Jenna shouted angrily and pulled out the knife. The heavy and narrow knife reflected bursts of cold light in the firelight.
"Yo yo, the young lady is angry, hahaha."
"If you attack us, it will be treason, you know? Not only you, but also your family will be punished."
"I advise you to think carefully."
"Haha, I guess he's read too many chivalric novels and his brain has been ruined, haha."
These soldiers were not afraid at all. Several of their leaders were also at War Sequence 2, so they could naturally sense the approximate strength of this girl. Although it was good, it was of little use given their own numerical advantage.
If they hadn't been so cautious, they would have raised a girl like this from a very wealthy family. They would have taken down this nosy girl long ago. With all the chaos and war going on, it's perfectly normal for one or two people to go missing.
After the outbreak of war, some order in the Black Rock Principality began to collapse, and the conflicts and resentments that had been suppressed in the past were directly exposed in a brutal manner.
The mocking voices of the soldiers stimulated the girl who still maintained her sense of justice. She rushed forward with a knife, ready to stop the tragedy with her own means.
hiss--
A slight spark flashed, and the sharp long sword directly cut through the opponent's weapon, breaking through the hard iron armor and leaving a long bloody wound on the body.
In a simple surprise attack, the girl swung her knife and knocked down three people, making them fall to the ground, curled up and wailed in pain.
"It's not easy, little girl. I'll definitely take that knife of yours."
A man in heavy armor approached from behind, and the soldiers respectfully made way for him. This man appeared to be the leader of the group, possessing Sequence 4 strength.
"Boss Longke is here, and now she's in trouble."
"Tsk tsk, this girl seems to have a good figure?" Although three people were chopped down, the group calmed down after the leader came over from the rear. Their leader was a rare expert among the surrounding teams, and dealing with this Sequence 2 girl was simply not worth mentioning.
Wearing heavy armor covering his entire body, the man was over two meters tall. His mountain-like body was facing the flames, huge and oppressive. The shadow beneath him slowly enveloped the thin girl in front of him.
