At dawn, there were no more Halberd mercenaries standing in the city.
The dark town and the scattered troops gave Jenna the opportunity to defeat them one by one. Her agility and the sharpness of the weapon in her hand allowed her to quickly kill these enemies, then retreat before the enemies gathered and attack again.
After midnight, most of the Long Spear Faction mercenaries began to flee and leave the town, and the remnants of the Bow Hunting Faction took the opportunity to pursue them. With such a joint attack from both inside and outside, the ownership of the town returned to the hands of the Bow Hunting Faction.
"Can I ask your name?"
Several people from the Bow Hunting Faction bowed to thank the girl in the blood-red robe, and then asked.
"I'm not in a position to say." Jenna covered her face and shook her head. Her father was still in Fengyan City.
The men looked at each other, then gathered together and took out a bag of gold coins. Judging from their size, there were probably more than 50 coins.
"Since you are unwilling to tell us, we will not force you to do so. Please accept this as a token of our gratitude."
Most of the bow hunting factions are locals and have some foundation in the local area.
Jenna shook her head and said, "No need for money. I want to know something from you."
"Please ask."
Several people invited the girl to sit in a house, and one of them asked someone to bring a brand new cloak.
"Do you need to change?" he reminded.
Only then did Jenna notice that her cloak was covered in blood. She nodded, took it, untied the slightly heavy cloak, and then put on the black cloak again.
"Can you tell me about the situation and plans of your Bowhunters? I was not at Black Rock before and only recently returned."
"This...is not something you can tell outsiders, but since you asked, we can talk about something a little less confidential."
Jena nodded.
"Right now, Lord 'Phantom Green' Tefera of the Bow Hunting Sect is gathering warriors in Valley City to prepare for a counterattack on Beacon City. Furthermore, the Elders' Associations in various locations are organizing militias to resist the invasion of the Spear Sect."
"Are you sure you can take down Fengyan City?" Jenna spoke again. She had been to Fengyan City before, and now there were at least 80,000 coalition forces of the Changji Faction there. Although they were scattered under different giants, they were still a powerful force.
"Perhaps the big shots above are confident, but many of us have just escaped from Fengyan City and have no hope for this." Several people said with a wry smile.
"We are not afraid of the mercenaries of the Long Spear faction. After gathering the hunters in the mountains, we also have skilled combat forces on our side. However, those black steel weapons are no match for the longbow."
"Black steel?"
"Yes, you may not have seen it. In fact, this is the first time we have seen it. It is a special weapon provided by the Southern Frost Rose."
"Just pull a trigger, and a round metal bullet will be fired, piercing through the steel armor. And there are even more special individuals among them."
"Those mercenaries call it the Magic Crystal Gun. It's so powerful it can even penetrate rock walls."
"Although the number is small, the deterrent effect on the battlefield is too great. Ordinary people simply don't have the courage to fight against such weapons."
Listening to these people's descriptions, Jenna recalled visiting the Northern Tower Academy long ago and seeing a similar alchemical artifact on display. She had no idea it was already being widely implemented.
Just as my father had said, the world was constantly changing, and the Frost Rose, possessing such immense power, would certainly not be content to remain isolated in a corner. As long as they were behind the scenes fanning the flames, there would be no peace in the Black Rock Principality.
They needed this country to contain Clancy and facilitate their southern battlefield.
The tree wants to be still but the wind does not stop. She sighed in her heart. Even if she could find a way to change this country, there is no environment for implementation now.
After learning more about it, Jenna understood a little more about the Bow Hunting Sect.
"Why is there such a big conflict between the hunting bow and the halberd?" She wanted to know what people here thought about this issue.
"It can't be reconciled." A middle-aged man with gray hair said next to him. He had a big axe on his back and his face was as sharp as a knife and looked weathered.
"This is where we've lived for generations. Every lake and field has an owner. Those returning mercenaries are naturally unwilling to keep spending money on food and other things from us. Moreover, they have now lost their previous source of income, so they are naturally going to fight and cause trouble."
"It's just like a hungry wolf in the mountains eating a rabbit. There's nothing much to say."
"You expect them to stay quiet. That's impossible. They're not stupid. With weapons in hand, they naturally have the courage."
"These people are used to killing people outside and have picked up a lot of bad habits such as burning, killing and looting. Don't expect them to have a conscience at all."
"Why should we be kind to such scumbags?"
Jenna listened quietly, recalling the same question she had asked her father's mercenaries in the city a few days ago, but the answers they gave were different.
"We work so hard to earn money from outside, but they don't have to do anything, just asking for a higher price. Seeing that we are a minority of 'outsiders', they sell it at such a high price, snatching our hard-earned money from us. Why should we get away with it?"
"Moreover, they are the majority in the local area. Many returning mercenaries are not only unwelcome to the locals, but also face various forms of exclusion and bullying."
"And then there's that so-called Elders Association. They're just a bunch of local stubborn old men who use all sorts of rules and regulations to constrain and extort money from you. They rely on their age to demand all sorts of favors and favours, and sometimes they even covet our wives and daughters. No man can stand this kind of thing."
