Chapter 51 White Steel Armor

Molten City in the Tisilan Mountains.

This is a city near an extinct volcano. The fertile volcanic ash makes nearby crops grow very well, with patches of soybean plants growing densely on the flat terraces. Beans are also a major source of plant protein for animals.

The green terraces built around the mountain cover this extinct volcano from top to bottom like stairs. There is only a huge cave on the mountainside. Leading out of the cave is an extremely wide road. Mossy rhinos pull mine carts in and out on the road from time to time.

The heavy steel mine carts crushed deep grooves on the gravel mountain road. A rabbit-eared tribe member wearing linen clothes hung a red fruit on a long pole. This kind of sugar apple is very popular with moss rhinos. As long as it is hung in front of them, they will follow the direction of the fruit and are very obedient.

By now, the rabbits had become quite adept at cooperating with the beasts of the mountain, establishing a strong bond of trust and gaining a thorough understanding of their preferences and habits. The moss rhinoceros preferred cool, humid areas and would not normally venture into the volcano. However, the ore was too heavy to be pulled manually, so the rabbits had to find another solution.

After some trials and observations, the sugar-apple fruit was very popular with these honest rhinos. They could even endure pulling a mine cart into the volcano, so the rabbits exchanged their rewards for this fruit. In addition, in order to take care of the habits and protection of these rhinos, they would also put a bucket of water on the car and wet the rhinoceros' backs and bodies with water from time to time to dissipate heat and keep the body surface moist.

The red sugar apple is said to have arrived from the Eastern Continent many years ago. There, it's also called Bufuna, meaning the fruit of longevity. Although this is a transcendental world, there's no such thing as a fixed lifespan. This fruit is simply very sweet. If it's a special transcendental variety, it could potentially cure hidden ailments and potentially extend lifespan.

As the mine cart entered the interior of the mountain, waves of heat came towards us, and the dark red flames reflected on the surrounding rock walls. Then the noisy sounds became louder and louder, the sound of bellows pumping, the vibrating sound of blacksmithing, the sizzling sound of steel cooling, the sound of water boiling and evaporating, the sound of huge hammers hitting, and the rabbit-eared people wearing craftsman robes were smelting metal and making metal products.

Inside the volcano is an irregular red lake filled with boiling magma. Surrounding the magma lake is a wide circular walkway. Next to the walkway are workbenches where hundreds of rabbit-ear craftsmen are working enthusiastically. The crisp sound of metal collision can be heard everywhere.

A tall rabbit-eared man was standing in the workshop inside the volcano. He was tall, with a round waist and belly, and was wearing dark red steel armor with shiny protruding spikes on it, which made him look a bit ferocious.

At this time, a big man with black rabbit ears walked in. He was wearing a white cloak and a well-fitting silver-white armor. Behind him were several armed guards wearing the same style of armor.

"Kanda, why are you here?" The tall rabbit-eared man was a little surprised to see the big man in the white cloak coming in, but he grinned and a familiar smile appeared on his face. It seemed that they had known each other for a long time.

"Lushan, I came to see how the new armor trials are going. His Highness Loran Hill sent me the plan, and the legion will be formed soon."

"Don't worry, I've been supervising and overseeing this every day lately. Everyone is experimenting step by step. The basic process has been established, and all that remains is optimization and maximizing cost-effectiveness."

The big rabbit in red armor didn't speak as ferociously as his armor, but rather sounded very easygoing and docile. He handed the axe to the rabbit next to him and strode over to give Kanda a big hug.

"We haven't fought in a long time. How about we have a fight tonight and drink some wine?"

"You can gesture, but you can't drink for now. Business is more important." Kanda smiled and the two talked as they walked.

Considering the needs of war, Loran Hill finally decided to form an elite corps composed mainly of cavalry. The rest would be ordinary corps equipped with spears, swords, and bows and crossbows, with the elite troops given priority in the cavalry.

The current Ivar world is still dominated by cold weapons. The existence of supernatural powers makes the strength and physique of individuals far superior to the ancient times in Loran Hill's memory. Moreover, there are armors made of various magical materials and some supernatural professions with inherent protective skills. The lethality of projectile weapons is far less than that in the ancient times in memory.

The attack power of projectile weapons has an upper limit, such as the pulling force of a crossbow, the loading capacity of early gunpowder, etc. Even if you are a strong man with infinite strength, the arrows you shoot are limited by the performance of the weapon. Excess strength will only break the bow and have no other effect.

Therefore, most battles in this world are still fought at close range. Bows and crossbows have a significant advantage at early levels, but as the Transcendent Sequence increases, after Sequence 4, their effectiveness begins to drastically decrease, unless you can imbue the arrows with magic or other abilities, which is the forte of the elves, but not so much of a skill for other races.

Cavalry on the battlefield often plays a decisive role, changing the course of a battle. Without cavalry, even if a victory is achieved, the enemy will flee and there will be little pursuit, preventing further gains. Furthermore, cavalry is crucial for attacking weak enemy units, breaking through lines, flanking, and outflanking. This is why Roland Hill, like other pioneers, prioritized cavalry.

"Kanda, although I have said it many times."

"But I, Old Lu, really admire Your Highness."

"What's wrong with you?"

"You'll know when you come and see."
