Chapter 587 Instinct and Knowledge (I)

An officer defending the city saw this scene with red eyes. He picked up the longbow at hand and put a feather arrow on the string. Deep magic power began to wrap around the arrow, and then it shot out, flashed through the air, and hit the forehead of a musketeer, killing him.

He shot arrows one after another, knocking down the musketeers one by one, but this action also attracted the enemy's attention.

"Aim at him and shoot!"

There was a shout from the wellhead, followed by the sound of dense gunfire, a short flash of fire, and hundreds of lead bullets streaked through the air and shot towards the officer.

Most of them fell on the surrounding walls due to accuracy issues, making small holes, and dozens of them also hit the officer's body.

Iron pieces flew, flesh and blood were shredded, and the huge impact of the bullet made the officer's body tremble. He leaned against the city wall behind him and slowly slid down, falling to the ground in a pool of blood that had already turned dark red.

This scene played out repeatedly on the city walls. Although a few archers returned fire, they were unable to inflict damage due to the enemy's armor and siege machinery. Meanwhile, the Black Rock soldiers, from their high position, continuously rotated their fire, alternating forward and backward, relying on the powerful force of their muskets to inflict casualties on the Clancys.

Even though the excellent armor on the Clancy side could protect against many bullets, due to the lack of powerful offensive weapons, many soldiers could only passively take the beatings, and were eventually shot through the gaps and weak parts of the armor and died on the city wall.

Bang--

A loud noise came from under the city wall, and then bricks and stones flew everywhere. A section of the city wall collapsed, revealing a small gap.

Relying on the explosives provided by the Frost Alliance, under the cover of the well guard, the walking Black Rock soldiers blew up a section of the city wall and began to pour into the city.

“Oops!!”

The high-ranking officers commanding in the rear felt a chill in their hearts, but there was no better way at the moment. They could only send soldiers to brave the enemy's artillery fire and rush forward to block the gap.

Black Rock's soldiers, halberds raised, poured through the breach, engaging the surrounding Clansian soldiers. For a moment, a life-or-death struggle ensued beneath the city walls. The sound of musketry continued uninterrupted. Small orbs of light rose from the hands of Frost Alliance mages and fell onto the walls, illuminating the enemy. Meanwhile, their own forces, hidden in the hazy darkness, continuously attacked the defenders atop the walls.

Shouts, the clang of metal, and the shattering of lead bullets mingled beneath the orange-yellow firelight. On this cold night, both sides were furious. Many defenders, wounded by lead bullets, still fought tooth and nail against the bandits and intruders who had approached their homes. Their sense of pain and hearing gradually faded in the fierce battle.

Blood flowed down the gun barrels and sword hilts, wet, thick and sticky, but there was no time to wipe it off. Everyone could only use their remaining strength to chop at the hideous enemy in front of them, until their brains and vision went blank and they fell among the piles of corpses on the ground.

Under the cover of muskets, Black Rock's soldiers began to break through the defenders' blockade and slowly entered the alleys. They broke open the doors of each house, looted the property inside, and then set fire to it.

Scorching sparks floated across the city, dispelling the early spring chill, while cries of joy echoed throughout the city.

Bard, sword in hand, engaged the enemy in street fighting with his knights. Then, shouting loudly, he urged the city's residents to retreat to the military academy in the center. While it was a school, it was also a small fortress. It was the only place relatively safe at that moment.

Swish——

A metallic tremor flashed by, the sound of armor being cut. A Black Rock soldier slowly knelt and fell to the ground, revealing a huge gaping wound in his abdomen.

"Can you hold on?" Bud put away the sword in his hand, looked at the enemies pouring in from the distance, and asked his comrades behind him without turning his head.

"Not bad...hiss...thank you, Captain." The knight gritted his teeth, enduring the pain of his wounds. He had grown up in this mountain forest, and now, to protect his brothers and sisters at home, this little pain and sacrifice was nothing.

"good!"

Bud responded, but at this moment, he wouldn't offer any words of comfort. Reality was like this, sometimes it defied human will, but so what? One still had to fight hard to protect the things precious in one's heart.

"Hahahaha—I think this is what makes it fun."

A mage stood on the city wall, looking at the countless fallen corpses and fighting figures below, and let out a hearty and triumphant laugh. Ever since they invaded Crancia, the enemy had been holding their ground, making it difficult for them to attack. Today, they finally got their revenge.

Just as he raised his staff and was about to release several fireballs into the enemy camp, a sharp whistling sound broke through the air in an instant.

Suddenly, he stopped moving, staring in disbelief at the half-broken axe blade sticking out of his chest. Warm blood slid down the axe face, and its smooth edge reflected a silvery light in the firelight.

He fell slowly, his previously smug face now smashed against the dusty and blood-stained city wall. His body twitched and struggled, and finally all he could hear was the increasingly clear shouts of killing coming from afar.

The sound is distant and desolate, like an ancient and lonely beast walking in the moonlight.

After crossing thousands of miles of grasslands and borders, groups of fully armed orc warriors finally arrived in the territory of Cransia.

Facing the city that was about to fall, the leading chief roared to the sky, and then under his command, the orcs wearing armor and holding battle axes rushed towards the enemy camp.

The group of figures under the moonlight were like a black, noisy ocean, and the sharp battle axes wielded by them were like the reflection of the silver moon, creating waves on this black ocean.
