Chapter 7: Flowing East

After a good night's rest, the group set off again at noon the next day.

They first took a carriage to the river, then boarded a passenger boat on the river, and then went upstream towards Qingwei Island.

There are not many passengers on the passenger ship, which is divided into two floors. You can enjoy the river view on the second floor.

"If we continue along the Lidai River for another two days, we will reach the territory of Qingzhizhou." Wei Lengyan introduced to Luolan Hill.

The Lidai River is about a hundred meters wide. It is a large river that flows through four continents. The river banks are all covered with lush aquatic plants. Loran Hill even saw large patches of reeds, and occasionally some lotus leaves and the like in the bays where the water flow is slower.

As the sun sets, scattered fishermen are still rowing their boats on the river to cast their nets. The vast fishing songs echo on the river, making people sigh that so many ups and downs in the world are in vain.

After passing through a long waterway and spending two days, the group finally got off the boat at a pier and stepped onto the shore again.

"Another hundred miles to the east, and we'll be back to our branch."

Shortly after I walked down the dock, a burst of shouting came from the side.

"Hey, it's Brother Xuemo~"

When they looked back, they saw a man dressed in a straw raincoat and a bamboo hat walking towards them. He had dark skin and was carrying something like a paddle on his back. His face was full of wrinkles and scratches, and he looked to be in his fifties.

"It's Old Zhou. You're on duty today." Xue Mo turned around and started talking to him, while Loran Hill watched from behind with a little curiosity.

This Old Zhou should also be a member of the Tuositang, but he is from the main hall of Qingzhizhou. It seems that he is on duty here today.

"Let's go sit over there for a while. I see you just got off the boat and it's getting dark. It's not too late to have a meal before leaving."

"Well... well, I'll trouble you, Old Zhou."

"Hehe, we are all from the same school, why should we be so polite." Old Zhou shook his head and led his men to a restaurant on the side. On the way, he specially asked someone to order five roast ducks.

"Send it to the third floor of Tingfeng Tower. I'll have a drink there."

"Okay, Uncle Zhou." The waiter from the roast duck restaurant responded enthusiastically. It seemed that this was not the first time he had visited the restaurant.

The group walked up to the restaurant and sat down, and only then did Xue Mo introduce Loran Hill's identity.

"This time, thanks to Miss Jialan, our mission would have been much more difficult otherwise."

"Excuse me, it turned out that it was this lady who took action. We are very grateful. If you can help us in the future, please feel free to call us." This person also clasped his fists to express his gratitude, which made Loran Hill a little flattered.

"It's nothing. Actually, I'm just repaying the kindness I received back then." Then Loran Hill talked about Yu Baichou.

"Yu Baichou? I've never heard of him, but there's a hall master with the same surname, Yu, who might be the one you're looking for."

"Miss Jialan, you don't know that in our line of work, we travel all over the country and inevitably run into all kinds of bad people. Sometimes we're afraid of bringing trouble to our families, so we generally don't reveal our real names, especially after we become famous."

"The Yu Baichou you mentioned may have changed his name, so he's hard to find."

"But don't worry. Since you said you want to find someone, we at Tuoshitang will not hesitate. We will send people to inquire about you in all the surrounding provinces and counties. If we can't find them, we will send people to the main hall to inquire and investigate. We will never let you return disappointed."

Although he looked weathered and dressed in street clothes, Old Zhou spoke with conviction and without any hesitation, which moved people.

"This is really a trouble for you all." Loran Hill was also surprised for a moment.

"It's alright, Miss Jialan, just relax. Come, let's drink tonight. It's a rare occasion to get together, let's have a drink together!"

Several people were drinking and singing in the restaurant. Later, the local master heard about it and came to join them. It became even more lively. The night was filled with the sounds of singing and drinking from the building.

Looking at this lively and grand scene, Loran Hill, who rarely experienced it, felt a sense of novelty. Sometimes he would wonder if other people in the restaurant would have any objections to such noise.

Unfortunately, there was no scene of dissatisfaction or trouble. Instead, the owner and staff in the restaurant were extremely warm and polite, and gave away a lot of wine for free.

Late at night, when the group went downstairs, the restaurant owner specially called a carriage to take them back to their residence. He was extremely thoughtful.

When he returned to his residence, hot water was prepared in advance, and even a special hangover soup was made. Only then did Loran Hill realize that the reputation of the Tuositang in the local area might not be as low as he thought.

Thinking back to when I was in Minzezhou, even the disciples of a small sect called Zhushanyuan were masters and nobles that were hard to find in nearby villages and towns, not to mention the famous sect called Tuositang that spanned the 22 southern continents.

You can't look down on someone just because he comes from the Cao Gang. The girl patted her cheeks while taking a shower to wake herself up a little.

At night, after changing into fresh clothes, the girl looked at the starry sky, then went to bed peacefully, waiting for dawn.

At noon the next day, after a good night's sleep and rest, the group regained their spirit and strength and set out on their return journey.

First, we took a horse-drawn carriage for about 40 miles, and then took a boat eastward for the last 60 miles.

Compared with Linjiezhou, which is close to the sea and has developed commerce, Qingzhizhou pays more attention to agriculture. There are abundant water resources here, and lakes and paddy fields can be seen everywhere. On the tender green fields, you can see many busy figures. Local farmers are cultivating paddy fields under the embankment by the river.

After admiring the scenery in the distance, Loran Hill slowly walked down the second floor of the passenger ship and came to the deck at the bow. He looked at the rippling water under his feet, then bent down and squatted, brushing his fingers across the river water, feeling the touch of the cool water on his fingertips.
