Chapter 7 The Final Answer

Pullman's home is in Brownwood Village, which is close to the forest of the Tisilan Mountains. It is very remote and probably cannot be found on the map of the kingdom.

The village's only specialty is the gooseberry that originates from the forest. The bright red gooseberry, like grapes, is a rare berry with a sour taste. Some nobles like to eat it, so every year merchants come to the village to purchase it. This is also the village's largest income in a year.

It happened when the businessman came to acquire it this year.

The most important thing about fruit is its freshness. Every year at this time, Master Mok would come to Brownwood Village and stay there a week or two in advance. He would sell the gooseberries produced in the village this year in several batches to nearby cities. This kind of fruit looks good and is very popular. In order to show off their status, the rich people in the city would often purchase some to entertain guests and to demonstrate their superiority and wealth.

Besides, it was not expensive to buy them. He would give these foolish villagers a silver coin for a basket and they would be very happy. After he transported them to the city, washed them, and placed them on clean plates, he could sell them for 60 silver coins a basket, which was a huge profit.

These dusty country bumpkins would never have the chance to enter the upscale shops in the city's aristocratic district, so they naturally had no idea what the fruit would actually fetch. Master Mok had been doing this business for many years.

On the way, he happened to meet Pullman's sister Ashley.

Ashley is 14 years old and just came back from taking a bath in the river. Her youthful and beautiful face immediately attracted the attention of Master Mok.

Pullman's sister was favored by the merchant Mr. Mok, who then told his parents that they could take his sister to the city to work as a maid for the nobleman.

Being a servant for a noble is much happier than being an ordinary villager. It is stable and you won't starve to death. In this dangerous world, it is a profession that many civilians aspire to.

So Pullman's parents happily agreed, and Mok also gave Pullman's parents some money, and Pullman was also very happy.

After all, his sister had a good job, and he had a vague feeling that if he had this money, he could discuss his marriage with Joanna.

But what he didn't expect was that since then, he never saw his sister again, the sister who was a little thin but well-behaved and obedient.

Two months after his sister left, he went to Trin City and found out the address of the nobleman's house. He wanted to see his sister, but was stopped by the guards.

He was just a commoner boy and naturally could not enter the noble's courtyard, so he stood opposite and asked the servants coming in and out about his sister's news.

But strangely, no one recognized his sister. Finally, he felt something was wrong, so he sneaked in under the cover of night one day. Since he was not familiar with the terrain, he was quickly caught by the guards.

In the West Wind Kingdom, the lives of civilians are not worth much, and he had trespassed into the mansion, so he was soon tortured. Fortunately, he was indeed a teenager from a nearby village, and many people recognized him. Finally, after a beating and a stern warning, he was released.

But he still didn't give up. He knelt on the ground with his scarred knees and kept begging the guards to let him see his sister.

Finally, a young guard couldn't stand it anymore, and when he was leaving, he whispered in his ear, "You can go look for it in the barren mountains south of the city."

When he staggered to the barren mountain, what appeared before his eyes were small piles of earth with exposed bones.

This is a mass grave.

A bad premonition came to his mind, and he searched around, only to find a corpse of a similar shape.

But from the torn clothes, he could still tell that it was his sister.

That’s right, the noble lord wanted a maid, but not the kind of maid that everyone imagined, who served him in his daily life. Instead, she was just a plaything that could be discarded at any time.

The boy's hands were shaking, unable to accept the fact. He sat beside the corpse for a whole day and night. Finally, he dug up the soil and buried the thin body in tears.

When he said this, the boy's voice was a little choked, and regret filled his heart. If only, if only he had persuaded his parents at that time, if only he had not indulged in the fantasy of Joana at that time.

Why, why is it like this? They just want their lives to be better! Are they not allowed to fulfill such a small wish?

"Do you want revenge?"

The silver-haired girl's clear voice came from the other side of the fire.

"I want to, but I don't have the ability, and my parents won't allow me to do it."

The boy's parents also vaguely realized the truth of the matter afterwards, but perhaps considering the huge gap in strength and the difficulty of adult life, or perhaps they did not care about their daughter, they did not seek revenge on Mok, but prepared to settle the matter peacefully. They also let Pullman work at home and not go to Trin City again.

"Why? Why can they be so indifferent?"

The boy clutched his knees tightly, his voice revealing confusion and anger.

In the eyes of children, parents are like heaven. Aren’t they omnipotent?

Loran Hill also recalled some memories of the past. After junior high school, the myth of her parents in her mind had been shattered, and she thought she was much smarter than them.

However, after graduating and starting work, and being beaten up by society, she began to understand some of her parents' choices. It's not that they don't want to do many things, but that they can't.

Just as Loran Hill was about to enlighten the boy, the mechanical voice of the system emerged again.

New task: Answer the doubts of young Pullman and get rewards based on the completion rate, at least 70%. (Current progress 0%)

Rewards: For every 20% progress achieved, you will get a chance to draw a lottery. When the completion rate reaches 100%, you will get a recipe for extraordinary creation.

Okay, does this system also have real-time emergency tasks?
