The valley was now nearly ten times more crowded than a few days ago, with people thronging everywhere, crowded into this long and narrow valley. Near the innermost part were women and children, on the outer sides were some elderly and young men, and even further out were many elderly but still strong people.
The night was long and only a few braziers were burning. At this moment, everyone held their breath and listened to what was happening outside.
But soon after, there was a loud banging sound coming from the door, which seemed to be the sound of various monsters trying to break in.
Above the sky, black figures kept circling, staring at the extremely dense crowd below, looking for an opportunity to launch a surprise attack.
Several braziers burned brightly beside the shrine on the other side, illuminating the presence of several wizards and shrine maidens in ornate attire. While their strength wasn't strong, most were only at the third or fourth level, their presence, combined with countless cold, gloomy spirits swirling around them, frightened even the flying monsters in the sky.
Although these monsters were all undead, they were not of the same clan and had no kinship, so naturally, none of them wanted to be the first to be targeted and attacked by the people in the valley. Therefore, the situation was temporarily deadlocked.
However, as the noises came from the gate one after another, the mood of the people in the valley fell into the abyss.
Will I die today...
At this point, many people had to start thinking about this problem, and some sad and heartbroken people even squatted down and cried. They stood quietly in the valley and began to sing the ancient and desolate tune of the sunset mountains.
This tune was originally sung when people went up the mountain to chop wood and farm. Its purpose was to report safety to family members, meaning that I had arrived safely on the other side of the mountain.
If the tune is suddenly interrupted or disappears one day, it means that the person who entered the mountain had an accident. The result is not to call relatives and friends to rescue, but to warn everyone not to come to this mountain in the future.
Time passed slowly until a hint of white appeared on the horizon.
The gate at the entrance of the valley still made occasional noises. Some demons outside let out low roars and then turned their bodies sideways, repeatedly bumping into the solid gate, and a cloud of dust rolled down from the mountain wall.
Listening to the gradually approaching and suppressed roars, some people in the valley began to cry quietly, while the others mostly stood there silently, constantly tightening their grip on the weapons in their hands, but afraid of getting wet with sweat from nervousness, they kept loosening their grip and slowing down their breathing.
Fight? How many demons could they defeat now? Once the door was opened, the weak family members behind would probably die.
Escape? The mountains were barren and exposed at dusk, and now they were in a deep valley. Where could they escape to? As soon as they left the valley, they would probably be eaten by the vicious vultures circling overhead.
With no way to retreat and no way to survive, the nearly 300,000 Youchi people can only huddle in the valley and wait slowly, listening to the gradually clearer roars outside, slowly falling into the valley of despair, waiting for the arrival of the last moment.
Just as everyone saw that the door was loose and they could see those ferocious monsters through the gap, a chaotic sound came from outside.
Immediately afterwards, a loud cry rang out among the crowd.
"Hurry, look, look up at the sky!" someone shouted in shock.
In the sky, the several Sequence 6 Evil Vultures that were originally circling now encountered a more powerful opponent.
Crimson flying dragons with wingspans of nearly ten meters shuttled through the air. There were approximately sixteen of them, each carrying a knight clad in golden bronze armor. They were dragon riders from Xiyou Continent, each a Sequence 5 being. The crimson flying dragons they rode were Sequence 5 Dragons, Red-Scaled Fire Dragons. Though few in number, they were Xiyou Continent's most elite fighting force.
These flying dragons glided across the sky, and the scales on their bodies reflected bursts of bright colors in the morning sunlight. The crimson light flowing between the scales was like flames, covering the entire body of the flying dragon.
As these dragon riders flew across the sky, the red-scaled fire dragons beneath them spread their wings and rose up, forming a huge horizontal triangle that covered the narrow sky above the valley.
Upon seeing this, these Undead Sequence 6 Evil Vultures also rushed forward, emitting sharp cries from their mouths, as if to shatter the eardrums of others.
Many of the Youchi in the valley turned pale upon hearing this, and some even collapsed to the ground, convulsing and dying. To block out the shrill cries, several wizards combined forces to cast a spell, temporarily covering the valley with a thin curtain of light, isolating the outside world from the sounds.
But the battle in the sky has just begun.
The red-scaled fire dragon spread its powerful wings and climbed up to the top of the sky step by step with the dragon knight on it, leaving the evil vultures behind, and then they began to turn around.
Under the thin, azure sky overhead, these elite dragon knights raised their exquisite, thick dragon spears, one by one, and aimed them at the vultures below. Then, the exquisite patterns on these dragon spears began to illuminate, spreading from the spear handles to the thick, conical tips.
So, these dragon knights raised their four-meter-long blazing dragon spears and swooped down from the sky with the powerful fire dragon.
The dragon spear and the giant dragon crossed the sky, leaving behind a long trail of flames. The very top of the flame, which was also the very tip of the dragon spear, was as hot as incandescence, and the tip of the spear was like a red-hot iron, distorting the surrounding atmosphere and vision.
As the man-dragon swooped down, his body fell rapidly from the sky, breaking through layers of air waves, and finally his body turned into a red afterimage, cutting through the sky.
Finally, the dragon knights finally collided with the vultures rising into the sky, but the battle was over the moment they made contact.
The bright red, blazing dragon spears pierced through the heads of these Sequence 6 Evil Vultures, piercing their intestines and ripping them into countless pieces. Whether it was their hard bones, sharp iron feathers, or razor-sharp claws, they were all shattered by the surging flames, turning into bursts of flaming ash that fell from the sky.
