Western Continent, Clansia.
Since the war broke out two years ago, millions of troops have gathered near the Apocalypse Fortress, deployed along the long border, and fought against the sweeping Crimson Army.
Since the national industrial reform, Cransia's various equipment has gradually become more complete, basically ensuring that every soldier can get uniform weapons and armor.
Marching boots, waterproof cloaks, tents, backpacks, water bottles, helmets, light mail, forged breastplates, sabers, daggers, and muskets, these supplies were produced by various provinces and counties under the full operation of the state machinery, and then continuously gathered to the front line.
Although muskets have begun to be used on today's battlefields, they have not become mainstream for many reasons.
First, the range is limited. The effective range of current smoothbore rifles is only 100-200 meters, and the accuracy is not high. It often requires dense deployment to create lethality.
Secondly, the penetration was insufficient. Gunpowder technology had not yet reached the level of later generations. The propulsion generated by primitive gunpowder was not strong enough to penetrate those mid- and high-level extraordinary people wearing armor. In addition, reloading was very time-consuming.
Third, it is not easy to manufacture. If we say that we can produce 100,000 muskets in a short period of time, it is still possible, but it is still difficult to immediately supply the consumption of 2 million people.
This doesn't mean that muskets are completely useless. In many situations, whether it's defense, probing, or killing people in front of a battle, they have very good use scenarios. And for some ordinary people and low-level extraordinary people, the bullets fired by muskets are indeed deadly.
To truly deal with mid-level transcendents, the army possessed a Magic Crystal Spear unit numbering several thousand. The Magic Crystal Spears and enchanted bullets they wielded were third-generation products, a refinement of the Frost Union's techniques. They were effective against Sequence 5 and below Transcendents, and posed a significant threat to Sequence 6 Transcendents.
The only thing that restricts them is the low production of magic crystal guns and the expensive enchanted bullets.
If we were to use a past era as an analogy, it would probably be the situation around World War I, when melee troops such as lancers still existed as organized units, and muskets began to be used as various means of auxiliary attacks.
In 1696 of the Third Era, the Crimson Empire launched a series of attacks on Clancy. An army of over two million men confronted Clancy near the Apocalypse Fortress, forming a continuous and tense battle line. Both sides began to deploy various combat forces to compete.
Among them were many glorious flags of the past. The Gale Cavalry, brought from the west wind, were like white waves, washing over the enemy formations on the golden plains. On the other hand, many well-known legions emerged from the Crimson Empire, including the Blue Longbow Army, the Bear Helmet Heavy Cavalry, the Poison Bee Blade Regiment, the Night Owl Assassination Team, and the White-Horned Antelope Relief Order. These legions played a significant role in local battles and greatly improved the situation.
At the same time, in the sky, the Pascal family's evil dragons continued to bombard and attack the large and small bunkers and fortresses near the Apocalypse Fortress, trying to clip the wings of the fortress and turn it into an isolated city.
Fighting against them were the Sky-Battler Fierce Armored Dragons from the Young Moon Council, the Black Winged Aerial Combat Legion from the Winged Clan, and the Sky-Slashing Fierce Birds from the Tisilan Mountains. Together they formed a battle line with clear division of labor, scouting, sniping, and besieging these Blood-Winged Red Dragons to resist their bombing of the fortress below.
As the war entered winter, some bad news arrived.
First, a surprise attack force crossed the Sigh Mountains and entered the rear of the Apocalypse Fortress, and began to destroy the logistics routes, burn granaries, and block the supply lines.
In order to supply food and logistical supplies to the Apocalypse Fortress in time, the Clansian army was divided into two groups. One group transported the urgently needed supplies to the front line by sea, while the other group drew elite troops from the army to hunt down the legion that entered the interior of Clansia.
But the Crimson Empire seemed to have noticed the plight of the Apocalypse Fortress. A large number of ships were withdrawn from the country and, under the order of the emperor, sailed south along the coastline to the sea area south of the Apocalypse Fortress to block the transport fleet.
The two sides engaged in fierce exchanges of fire at sea. Although the warships on the side of Crancia had a technical advantage, the Crimson Empire had the participation of elves. Their flexible elves that could fight in the air could easily break through the blockade of artillery fire, land on warships, and engage in hand-to-hand combat. In this way, the technical advantage was greatly offset.
In contrast, the Crimson Empire's fleet was numerous and extensive, advancing across the sea in layers, surrounding and strangling the Clansian fleet. If it weren't for the fleet of the Young Moon Council arriving in time to provide support and open a path for escape, Clansian's new fleet would have been destroyed on the spot.
Even though everything is developing in a good direction, it must be said that the time for Clancia to settle down is still too short. The Crimson Empire relies on a population three times that of the Starlight Alliance, and all kinds of materials and personnel are crushed, just like an adult bullying a child.
On land, the cavalry of the Crimson Empire was finally caught up after escaping several times.
In the wilderness, the National Knights of Clancy and the Blood Lance Knights, directly under the Crimson Empire's royal family, faced each other, their pure white and bright red flags intertwined. Both sides were elite soldiers with high fighting spirits, and the initial battle was a bloody mess.
In the end, when both sides were close to exhaustion, the leader of the Blood Spear Knights suddenly showed his power, charged into the enemy formation with a spear in hand, cut down dozens of platinum wind flags, and led a dozen people behind him to break through the line in an instant.
Under his encouragement and leadership, the legion changed its formation again, continuously strangled the opponent, and finally won the victory.
Under such circumstances, the supply of Apocalypse Fortress began to become difficult, and with the arrival of winter, the need for firewood and food was even greater, which was like adding insult to injury.
