Chapter 87: The Dragon of the Past

What is a dragon?

The dragon does not refer to a specific species. It is a product of fantasy, or a representation of a certain type of creature. This creature is extremely powerful and has few weaknesses. Similar legends can be found in both the East and the West, as well as in other remote civilizations.

It is similar to a snake, has scales, is extremely large, and can fly. It is the divine dragon of the East, the evil dragon of the West, and the feathered serpent of the New World. They can always be seen in the primitive worship of mankind.

"With extraordinary powers, an extraordinary race will inevitably emerge." The words of a certain councilor in the Twilight Age came true, foreseeing possible future changes.

After humans acquired extraordinary powers, they also began to create extraordinary races. Natural evolution is always so slow and full of regrets. When humans took up God's authority and began to create, the fantasies that were deeply imprinted in their minds in the past became reality.

Dragons were created and strengthened generation after generation.

The earliest dragons appeared in the early Twilight Age. At that time, dragons were just flying beasts slightly larger than humans, used by humans riding and traveling above the clouds. Compared with fragile and easily damaged airships, dragons were more flexible and suitable for combat. This was almost the earliest dragon rider.

However, the dragons at that time were not very powerful. Most of them were the result of humans genetically modifying the creatures on the planet. The real dragons were created by the "Tree of Life Sect".

The poisonous dragon 'Nidhoggr', the first generation of dragons created by the 'Tree of Life Sect', has a slender body, about 50 meters long, and black scales covering its body. Due to the formula engraved in its genes, its scales will naturally become a kind of defensive pattern array. It only needs to infuse the magic power of the extraordinary core in its body into the body surface during battle to activate the patterns on these scales, gaining a tough defense far beyond steel and able to withstand high temperatures.

However, although the first generation of dragons had powerful defenses, their means of attack were still poor. Their intelligence was not enough to support the learning of various complex techniques, and they could only use the fire techniques engraved on their throats. This was very effective against feathered sky beasts in early air combats, but it became very weak when humans gradually counterattacked the earth.

It takes time for flames to burn something, and many powerful beasts on the ground have thick skin and flesh. Nidhogg may need to spray flames for 10 minutes before it can barely burn those opponents. To make up for this deficiency, the "Tree of Life Sect" added fangs and venom to it, and finally it was called the poisonous dragon.

The second generation dragon, the angry snake dragon 'Marduk'.

To gain an advantage in the reconquest of the sea, the Tree of Life Cult created a second generation of dragons, based on the plesiosaurs, but modified according to mythology and practical needs. The tough black scales were transformed into finer, more delicate, emerald scales to facilitate agile movement in the water. While their defense was reduced, the inscribed spells allowed the Angry Snakes to more easily manipulate liquids, giving them a significant advantage in underwater combat.

Compared to the first generation of dragons, Marduk is more intelligent and can use more than ten different techniques to fight. Lightning, storms, waves, and whirlpools are all under his command. Every battle with sea beasts can be described as a violent storm with lightning and thunder.

The success of 'Marduk' allowed the 'Tree of Life Sect' to grow rapidly, and in the middle of the Twilight Age, it occupied a large area of the ocean. It was not until the rise of the 'Deep Sea Union' that the 'Tree of Life Sect' withdrew from its monopoly position in the ocean.

The third generation dragon, the Morning Star Dragon 'Quetzalcoatl'.

'Quetzalcoatl' is the name of the feathered serpent god in Aztec mythology, and it also represents the abilities of the Morning Star Dragon. It rises like the first morning star in the east, illuminating the sky. It devours lightning and never falls. Its silver-white wings emit a dazzling array of colors during battle. Its sturdy body is wrapped in golden scales, allowing it to soar freely in the sky.

When the Morning Star Dragon was active, it was the time when the 'Tree of Life Sect' and the 'Mechanical Council' were fighting fiercely. In order to fight against the endless autonomous units of the Mechanical Council, the 'Tree of Life Sect' created this powerful dragon. The electromagnetic pulses it emitted swept the sky, and wherever it went, almost all electronic creations were burned through and exploded in sparks. This caused great damage to the 'Mechanical Council' and suppressed its expansion for a time, forcing the other party to hide in the seabed and some hidden corners.

The fourth generation dragon, the unfinished Burning Dragon 'La'.

Unfortunately, the 'Tree of Life Sect' failed to complete it in the end, which led to the 'Tree of Life Sect' gradually losing the battle with the 'Mechanical Parliament' and was finally completely defeated.

The Morning Star Dragon's powerful and penetrating electromagnetic pulse is not insurmountable. After suffering a series of attacks, the "Mechanical Council" improved on many of its own shortcomings and covered its combat units and instruments with protection against electromagnetic pulses, which greatly enhanced their resistance. The combat units were also equipped with long-range kinetic artillery to replace the previous attack methods based on lasers and missiles.

Under the numerous artillery fire and bombardments of the 'Mechanical Parliament', the Morning Star Dragons of the 'Tree of Life Sect' were blown into pieces and fell from the eternal sky, causing them to lose their advantage in the sky and become increasingly passive.

According to the conception, the Burning Dragon 'Ra' should be able to use nuclear fusion as energy, and use its own extraordinary core to spew out powerful solar winds that are enough to drown the earth. The countless high-energy particle streams in the solar winds will wash away all the sophisticated electronic products of the Mechanical Council, causing a devastating blow.
