Beneath the frozen mountains, a crimson figure wandered, swinging a heavy axe in the air, shattering any snowflakes it touched into dust.
In the rolling snowdrifts, a snow-white leopard roared and fought with the red figure.
The sharp claws tore and the saber teeth bit, bringing up traces of light red warm blood, melting the white snow and leaving behind pits.
Xia Lanluote held down the eyes and nose of the white leopard with one hand, then pressed it heavily under her body, and then swung her giant axe horizontally, bringing up a streak of blood in the snow, and only then did she subdue the Sequence 6 monster.
"Thank you for your hard work, Miss." Phoenix rode on the flaming phoenix and slowly descended from the sky, melting the surrounding snow and water, and bursts of white smoke rose.
She wiped the young lady's wound, applied ointment to it, and then put a thick velvet cloak on her to keep her warm.
"Let's go back." Lottie turned around, wiped her forehead and spoke to her companion.
"Um."
After experiencing the previous incident of conquering the evil dragon, the lady of the red dragon, in order to train her fighting ability, searched for many magical beasts in the mountains to fight.
This situation has been going on for several months.
Back in a hidden cave hut in the snow-capped mountains, Phoenix lit a fire and began to cook food for tonight, while Lottie sat on a simple wooden block nearby, reading the latest news.
"The organization 'Fairywood' is a bit special." Looking at the recent news, Lottie thought thoughtfully.
After a while, Phoenix prepared dinner and the two sat at the stone table to enjoy it together.
"I want to go and take a look at the organization called 'Fairywood'." Lottie suddenly spoke after finishing her meal.
"Why? I'm afraid such an organization would not welcome us." Phoenix thought about the various propositions of that organization, which were obviously exclusive to the nobles.
"I know, but I prefer this idea. Or rather, I no longer care about my noble status."
"As long as I can make up for the mistakes of my predecessors and accomplish my own mission, I don't care whether I get any reward or not." She raised her head and looked at the companion in front of her.
"I feel a little sorry for Phoenix, because our family may disappear in my generation, and there will be no one to repay you."
"Don't worry about this, or it's not necessary. Because your ancestors paid the reward a long time ago." Phoenix shook her head.
"Lottie, just do what you like. I don't really want to see you toiling away for the Pascal family's name."
"That mission is too heavy."
After finishing their meal, the two sat in front of a small fire made of gravel, talking about recent events, their childhoods, and some ideas for the future.
"If, I mean if Lottie completes the task, what are you going to do next?" Phoenix asked softly while stirring the firewood.
"Oh, can it be completed? Actually, I haven't thought about this question." The girl stared at the flames in a daze.
"Think about it, this is the only way there is hope." Phoenix smiled.
"Then I'll probably leave this sad country and go to a faraway place to start a new life. Oh, and I'll also have to learn how to knit."
"Knitting sweaters, why?" Phoenix asked curiously.
"There's a sister I really admire who once knitted a sweater for me. I was so envious of her ingenuity and craftsmanship, and I wanted to try it myself. If I made clothes myself, I'd probably feel even warmer and happier."
Lottie looked into the firelight and thought again of last winter.
"That's a great idea. Let me think about it. If it were me, I'd like to open a restaurant in the future."
"Why did Finis open a restaurant?"
"Because this way I can often invite everyone over for dinner, and I really like the lively scene of having fun with everyone." Phoenix expressed her thoughts.
"Actually, I have several older brothers and sisters at home. Unfortunately, as they got married, they gradually separated. Now it's difficult for us to get together like we did when we were little."
"My eldest brother went to study in a distant land and hasn't been seen for years. My second sister is doing business in the southern seas. My third sister enjoys adventure and often visits strange places. My fourth brother hides in an alchemy workshop, researching some strange things and only comes out a few times a year."
"Wow, Phoenix, you have quite a big family." Lottie was a little surprised.
"Yeah, but I'm the only one who has gained an affinity with the phoenix, so everyone elected me as the guardian of the village." The young woman patted her chest.
Although she was a few years older than Lottie, it wasn't much, probably in her early 20s.
As the night grew deeper, the two men closed the door of the cave, leaving a small hole for ventilation, and then fell asleep peacefully.
The snowflakes outside continued to fall, slowly covering the footprints and traces left by the day. The world was still white, making people unwilling to go out.

Drops of water fell from the eaves, rolled down the windowsill, splashing tiny water droplets, tinkling like the melodious sound of a pipa.
Luo Lanxier felt her consciousness slowly coming back to her. She turned over in the warm quilt, but because a few strands of hair had gotten into her pajamas, she felt a slight itch. She had to open her eyes and use her small hands to pull out these weird strands of hair. At this point, she couldn't fall asleep anymore.
Rubbing her eyes, she looked up at the ceiling. The white plaster carvings against the light-colored background were simple yet beautiful.
