Chapter 97: The Witch of Misty Rain

"It's okay, I know these are extra." Loran Hill stood in front of the counter holding the folded clothes.

"You may take it, but I still want to hear you continue to talk about the things that happened on the island in the past, as well as the legends about the Lord of the Mansion and the Five Phoenixes."

"Okay, thank you, young lady." The shopkeeper accepted the golden plate with a smile, poured tea for Loran Hill, brought a wooden chair for her to sit on, and then continued to talk about some past stories passed down from ancestors at the counter.

Thus, in this peaceful little shop, Loran Hill listened to ancient stories and anecdotes. Some of them were classics passed down through the ages, while others were stories Loran Hill had never heard of in the outside world. For example, it was said that Chifeng Suqin was afraid of the dark as a child, so Caihua made her a vermilion lantern to carry at night. Later, this style of lantern gradually spread, and every household would hang it during festivals. However, after its popularity, few people knew the origin of the lantern.

Even if such a story was true, Suqin would not tell it to him. Loran Hill sat aside, imagining what the mature and steady Suqin in his impression would look like when she was a child.

Then time passed slowly, and when Loran Hill got up, it was almost noon.

It was a good time to go to Suqin's place for a free meal, and Luo Lan felt a little bad.

Holding the newly bought clothes, Loran Hill walked slowly towards the place where Suqin and Honghu lived in seclusion.

After knocking on the door and entering, Suqin was not surprised that Luo Lan Hill came again today. Perhaps it was because Luo Lan looked like a curious baby yesterday, and he must have a lot of things he wanted to know from her and Hong Hu.

"Hu is sleeping upstairs. Luo Lan, go call her. I'm almost done here."

"Yeah." Loran Hill walked up the stairs with brisk steps and found Honghu sleeping on a bamboo mat under the windowsill. She was lying on her side, her brows were soft and pitiful, and her long hair and snow-white dress were scattered in the sunlight, as if a faint halo was overflowing.

It’s really beautiful, Loran Hill thought unconsciously in his heart.

She had seen many beautiful women. Apart from people like Yi Miaoxin who relied on power to gain extraordinary charm, the only ones who could compare to Honghu were probably Yi Xuegelin and Frosia.

Witches all have good looks, so it is very difficult to stand out among the witches with appearance and looks. Only a few people can do it. Although Loran Hill herself is one of them, she always unconsciously ignores this point.

"Senior Honghu, it's time to get up." Loran Hill walked across the bamboo mat wearing white socks, came to Honghu, bent down, and looked at her who was still sleeping soundly, her eyelashes quietly in the sunlight.

Gently gathering the scattered hair with his hands, Loran Hill held Honghu's shoulders, feeling the somewhat soft body, and slowly lifted it up. However, he still seemed a little sleepy, leaning on Loran Hill's shoulders, his eyelashes trembling slightly, and he never fully opened them.

As a last resort, Loran Hill called out a few more times, but apart from a slight hum in response at the beginning, there was no other movement.

Listening to the faint sounds coming from Suqin downstairs, Loran Hill knew that lunch was probably almost ready, so he had to put down his other hand, then lift up Honghu's legs and hold him horizontally.

However, the sleeping Honghu unconsciously slid to the middle, and the silk dress greatly reduced the friction, which forced Loran Hill to use his ability slightly to support the Honghu with a soft air ball, and then he carried it with some ease and walked down the stairs.

His skin and cheeks, as white as mutton-fat jade, rose and fell slowly in his sleep. Even when he was carried downstairs, he still looked gentle and safe. This made Loran Hill envy such a worry-free and at ease mentality. Perhaps only Ketti could be compared with Honghu.

It was the same in the past. Ketti always liked to stay by my side no matter what. If she encountered something she was not interested in, she would not leave but sleep on my lap.

"Is Honghu still asleep?" Suqin looked at Luo Lanxier carrying Honghu downstairs, her mouth slightly opened, with some surprise.

"This is really embarrassing for little Loran." As she said this, she walked over, carefully took Honghu from Loran Hill's hands, then carried it to the wooden chair next to the table and let it lean lightly against the back of the chair.

Then, as if playing a prank, Suqin dipped a little water on her finger and touched Honghu's forehead, causing the sleeping witch in white dress to slowly open her eyes.

However, Suqin did not stop there, but continued to lightly paint on Honghu's forehead with clean water, as if outlining some pattern. At this time, Honghu's consciousness slowly returned.

"Qin bullied me again." There was a hint of tenderness in her words, which made people want to bully her even more.

Seeing Honghu finally wake up, Suqin stood up from her bent-over position and said, "It's time for lunch."

"Is it okay not to eat? Actually, I can go without food for a long time." Honghu was still a little sleepy.

"That's fine, but I have to find a quiet and safe place for you to sleep." Suqin seemed to be considering this matter seriously.

"Then I'd better eat, because I have to supervise Qin." As he said this, Honghu gradually sat up straight and leaned forward to look at the dining table, on which were the bamboo-scented barbecue made by Suqin today and the snow-white fish soup.

The three of them sat at the table and ate slowly. Honghu was full after eating a small bowl, and then continued to lean back in the chair to take a nap. Only Suqin and Luolan Hill were left at the table talking.

"Actually, Honghu isn't always this sleepy. If she goes out, she'll be fine and can even teach the children. It's just that when she's at home, she'll look lazy." Suqin defended her image as a good sister.
