At night, in an unknown town in the east of the empire.
The thick cloth curtains billowed in the night breeze, making soothing sounds, and occasionally the faint glow of the night sky outside shone through the window glass.
Three girls were sleeping on the beds in the bedroom, breathing softly and steadily.
Perhaps because she was not too sleepy, one of the girls in a white nightgown opened her eyes from her deep sleep and looked at the curtains rolling from time to time. The small sound woke her up.
Loran Hill gently lifted the quilt, not wanting to disturb Ye Ling, who was sleeping soundly beside him. He stood up and walked to the window, gently closed it, and put the latch in. Before leaving, he looked out the window for a long time at the night sky outside. It was a summer night, the time when the Milky Way and the stars were at their brightest.
"Can't sleep?" Bumansha asked softly from behind. She also noticed it after Loran Hill stood up.
"A little."
"Let's go out for a walk." After saying that, Bumansha and Loranhill quietly opened the door and walked out of the warm house.
When you go outside at night, you can feel a sense of quietness and coolness.
The gently undulating wilderness vaguely emerged under the pale blue starlight. The two sat on the slightly cold stone steps and looked at the world in the early morning hours.
"Loran has experienced a lot over the years." Bumansha asked softly shortly after sitting down.
"How did Bumansa know that?" The girl tilted her cheek slightly.
"Your personality is easy to guess, Loran." Bumansa explained slowly.
"When we were in school, although he was very quiet at first, after getting to know us, he would occasionally share interesting stories with everyone and play around."
"But now, although you still talk with us, you often stare blankly in the gaps, as if you are thinking about something very far away."
"If you're worried about yourself, I think it's unlikely because you're not the weak or insecure type."
"So it's more likely that we've encountered some big problems that are difficult to solve."
"Bumansha is very good, but some of her guesses are not accurate. Actually, I am not a person with a strong character." The girl shook her head.
“People always admire those who know a lot, but in fact, knowing is just knowing, and it is still a long way from actually doing it.”
"I also feel worried and hesitant, unable to make up my mind." Loran Hill hugged his knees and looked at the beautiful and vast night sky.
"Tell me about it."
"Well... how do I explain it? It's like you suddenly know a big secret, but you can't solve it alone. You need the help of many, many people."
"But this kind of behavior will cause a lot of trouble. Not everyone will understand your ideas and concerns, and I myself am not even sure if this is 100% correct."
"You can't ignore something like this, but you're also worried about whether you'll mess it up, right?" Bumansa helped Loran Hill analyze.
"Um."
"Loran is very gentle." Bumansa said suddenly.
"I want to comfort you by saying that it's difficult to determine whether something is completely correct at the moment of making a choice. It's often future generations who make the evaluation, not the present."
"But at least at that moment, it was a well-thought-out option that took into account the long-term impact, and if that's the case, then go for it."
"What if it goes wrong?" Loran Hill asked a question he knew the answer to.
"Then apologize sincerely and prepare for next time." Bumansha replied with a smile.
"If it's Roland, I believe it can be done."
"Will it be done? This is quite a huge project..." The girl sighed slightly as she looked at the starry sky above her head.
....
The next day, the bakery.
"Ye Ling, bring that jar of sugar and sprinkle it."
"Okay~" The dragon-horned girl from the East placed the sugar jar on the table, and then sprinkled snow-white granules on the baked golden donuts.
"Loran, the cake base is baked. Could you please shape it?"
"No problem." As she said that, the girl took the prepared cream and spread it on the orange and yellow fluffy cake, rotating it continuously until it became an attractive white cylinder.
Then Loran Hill used light pink cream to make rose flowers, dotted them on the edge of the cake, and placed fruit in the middle.
"That's about right."
In the morning, the three of them were busy in the bakery. The large table in the middle of the bakery was filled with neatly arranged cakes and breads.
Things calmed down around noon.
"Huh, it's finally done." Ye Ling leaned back on a tall wooden chair beside her, with a lot of bread crumbs and cream still on her apron.
"This is the amount of exercise I do in a week." She added, indicating that she had exerted a lot of effort today.
"Thank you Ye Ling and Luo Lan~" Bumansha responded with a smile covering her mouth.
"Actually, I'm rarely this busy. Uncle Fulun's daughter turned one this afternoon, so he invited us to a special dinner and asked me to make all these pastries in advance."
In today's era, the probability of a child of an ordinary citizen surviving to one year old is only about half, which is why people are so happy and delighted.
"Would you like to come with me to deliver the bread and pastries?" After resting for a while, Bumansha stood up and asked.
"I want to sleep." Ye Ling leaned back on the chair.
"Where's Loran? Why don't you come with me to see how people here gather and celebrate." Bumansha came to Loran Hill and invited him.
"Okay." Although he was a little shy, Loran Hill still accepted Bumansha's invitation with the mentality of giving it a try.
"Well, if Sister Luo Lan goes, I want to go too." Ye Ling raised her head and looked at the two of them.
