Time passed slowly, and Loran Hill spent a few weeks of leisurely life in Emenas. Except for learning some musical instruments and songs with Madam Filia in the morning, she walked around Emenas again in the rest of the time, from the familiar lakeside and forest of the fortress, to the snow-capped mountains and rope bridge in the north, from the unfallen bridge across the river, to the shade of trees and square of the central school building, and so on.
Finally, Loran Hill's footsteps also arrived at the Temple College on the west side of Emenas. It was still as quiet as before. Occasionally, a few Temple students who stayed on campus could be seen. They were wearing black and white uniforms, walking in the temple and the square, talking to each other in low voices.
There is a cemetery on the hill behind the Temple College on the north side. Occasionally, you can see some people from outside the school paying their respects here. They will place blue bouquets in front of the tombstone, then pray silently and reminisce quietly, and it will take a long time for them to leave.
Compared to the past, there are many new tombstones here. When Loran Hill walked in the cemetery, he saw one or two familiar names. They were students who entered Emenas in the same year as Loran Hill. Some of them had died in the wars over the years.
"Excuse me..." Just as Loran Hill was walking on the path in the cemetery, a questioning voice came from behind him.
Since there was no one else around, Loran Hill turned around.
The voice came from a bearded man wearing a dark grey leather jacket that looked weathered and had many fraying spots on it.
"Sorry, I made a mistake." After seeing Loran Hill's face, he lowered his head with some regret.
"Maybe I'm not wrong, Senior Kuye." Loran Hill held up the hair beside his ear with one hand, and then it slowly turned black, and his pupils turned back to their previous bright red.
"This, could this be, actually like this." Looking at Loran Hill's changing hair color and appearance, the man could no longer fail to recognize President Loran.
In the past when he was in Emenas, he was a club leader of the Walled City Academy. At that time, due to changes in the school, he and several other club leaders, including Igli, Hongfan, Atati, Ling, etc., joined the club where Loran Hill was. Later, they experienced many things in the battle with the "Black Queen".
"So it seems that Luo Lan is Luo Xier. It's unexpectedly like this. No wonder, no wonder." It seemed that some of the doubts from that year were instantly answered, and he understood many past events.
"That was a kind of willfulness during my student days. Well, actually it was also arranged by the dean." Loran Hill stirred his hair with his fingers and explained with a little embarrassment.
"These things seem to be nothing now." Kuye shook his head, then looked up and continued to ask Luo Lanxier.
"I just didn't expect to see President Loran again." His voice was full of emotion.
The two of them walked to the stone bench in the corner of the cemetery, sat down, and continued to talk about what had happened over the years.
"My hometown is in the northernmost part of the empire, which is also a very cold and barren county in the north..." Kuye slowly recounted his experiences over the years.
"After graduation, my father arranged for me to work at a chamber of commerce in Titania. Most of the members of that chamber of commerce were from the North."
"Because the North is so poor, many people would like to go south to make a living. Of course, those who can leave are generally wealthy nobles or rich people."
"Our Chamber of Commerce does the same. Every year, we travel between the North and the Central Region, shipping some of the North's products to the South to make money. Then, we return to the North with the food and daily necessities we've purchased."
"The Empire has taken good care of the northern commerce chambers, reducing and exempting many tariffs, allowing our chambers of commerce to survive."
"Is this a bit surprising to the president?" The man smiled as he talked about his work experience at the Chamber of Commerce.
"Although I'm a little surprised, it seems acceptable." Loran Hill was not too surprised.
"Being a merchant is considered less respectable by the upper echelons of the empire, so direct heirs are generally not allowed to engage in this profession. However, I am the only son in my family, and I will inherit the title. Naturally, I need to understand the important sources of food and income for the territory, so I was arranged to experience and learn."
"That period was actually pretty good. I traveled with the team to many places and saw a lot of new things. It wasn't so boring or uncomfortable at all."
"But things changed later. The Empire launched an expedition, and many caravans were requisitioned. The Chamber of Commerce was also given tasks and targets by the Emperor. At that time, all regions also entered a state of preparation for war and conscription."
"It was also from that time that my father called me back and I began to get involved in the affairs of our family's territory."
"Unfortunately, I'm not cut out for this. Dealing with complex interpersonal relationships is difficult, so my father found me a marriage partner."
"She's the daughter of a viscount from a neighboring province. Although she's a bit overbearing, she did help me take care of things in my territory."
"Originally, I thought my future life would be like my father's, being a conservative and stable little lord, and then raising my own children and successors."
"It's a pity that things in the empire change so quickly."
"Later, we experienced cold disasters and wars, and even this small place where I live was not immune."
"I, along with my soldiers and other lords from the neighboring counties, followed the call of the Duke of Raven and began to participate in the war."
"I went through many twists and turns, fighting against the Emperor's army, clashing with the armies of the Eastern Territory, and finally participating in the long-term confrontation between the Eastern and Western Empires."
"Many of my peers in my youth died in this war, and their families were torn apart and disappeared in the migration and fighting."
"I went back to Emenas this time to pay tribute to a former classmate. He graduated a year earlier than me and was much more talented than me. I didn't expect that he would die before me."
