Chapter 343: Quiet Night in the Tower

Inside the Graystone Fortress, soldiers from both sides fought in the streets and alleys, fighting for the key roads.

"See that fortress up ahead? Blow it up."

Leaning against a solid, broken stone wall, a squad leader gave orders to the soldiers beside him, while the sky and surroundings were filled with the sound of gunfire. Bullets flew through the open space between the two sides, creating potholes and holes.

"You need to aim, and it will take about three seconds." The soldier next to him took out a cylindrical alchemical artifact from his back. It was about the thickness of a fist, with a handle underneath, and was made of metal. When the soldier activated the extraordinary core in his body, light blue magic patterns appeared on the cylinder.

'Blue Flame'-class Fire Snake Arrows can be fired at any time after being infused with magic power. They have a range of 50-300 meters. Upon impact, they trigger the explosive powder inside, causing a violent explosion. They are specifically used to deal with difficult-to-conquer bunkers.

Such alchemical creations are naturally very expensive. In the Southern Allied Forces, each squad is only equipped with two, which are often carried separately by two shooters.

"No problem. In half a minute, the others will collectively open fire to cover you." The squad leader gestured to his teammates not far away, and then the others responded one by one.

"Count down five, four, three, two, one, fire!"

After saying that, six soldiers raised their guns and emerged from the bunkers to shoot at the enemy, which immediately attracted the attention of the enemy. Then the shooter also raised the metal-shelled fire snake arrow and began to aim.

As soon as this special alchemical creation appeared in the field of vision, it immediately attracted the enemy's attention, but aiming and reloading took time. After the previous round of shooting, most of them did not have time to reload, and only two bullets were shot at the shooter.

One bullet hit the stone nearby, and the other bullet passed through his left ear, leaving behind pieces of blood and flesh.

After these precious three seconds of aiming and firing, a blue flame spurted out from the back of the metal cylinder, and the bullet rushed forward rapidly like a swimming fire snake, dazzlingly bright.

One end of it poured directly into the interior of the fortress, and then the violent explosion overturned the entire fortress, with flying stones and soil falling everywhere.

As we waited for the flames to die down and the fortress to be razed, everything became extremely quiet.

"Go! Go, quickly, rush over." After breaking through the blockade of this fortress, the squad leader roared loudly and led the remaining people to quickly break into the enemy's defense line.

Similar battles took place throughout the fortress. Although the defenders in the Limestone Fortress were well-trained, they began to be broken through and defeated by the new weapons of the Southern Alliance.

“Huh… Heh…”

His lungs heaved with heavy breathing. In an open space deep within the fortress, Isaiah clutched a golden-bladed longsword, panting constantly. Facing him were two fully armored knights. One, clad in thick, dark gold armor as thick as a rhinoceros, was short and stocky, wielding a mace resembling a rhino horn. The other, clad in dark red rose armor, held a unique spear. Its shaft was entwined with veins, and its tip faded to a fading white, like a bud among leaves.

Swinging the sword again and adjusting his response stance, Isaiah glanced around to ascertain the current situation.

After the fortress was breached, the White Lion Knights led by Jelann rushed into the city first, and the great knights under his command also entered together. In the subsequent scattered attacks, these two great knights rushed into the core of the fortress, where Isaiah was.

After a fierce battle, all the guards around Isaiah were killed, and he himself fell into a state of severe magic power consumption.

Although he was not in good condition, Isaiah did not give up the resistance. He estimated the condition of the two opponents in his mind. Although his faces could not be seen clearly due to the armor, their condition would not be too good either.

The long sword with golden patterns in his hand was a treasure bestowed by the Witch of Weapons. It provided him with great help in this battle, so that he remained uninjured in the fierce battle just now, while the two opponents were more or less injured.

But even so, we are still at a disadvantage, Isaiah thought to himself.

The big knight in rhinoceros armor on the opposite side charged again, and the rhinoceros horn hammer in his hand was swung down with a whistling wind.

Isaiah dodged the first sweep, but soon another great knight attacked. The dark red spear pierced through his block like lightning, leaving a narrow wound on his shoulder.

Then the two of them joined hands again, forcing Isaiah into a dead end step by step, and the wounds on his body became more and more.

Is he going to die here? Isaiah felt very unwilling.

If it weren't for the advantage in weapons, it would have been easy for him to block the enemy at the foot of the mountain with his own command.

This is so unfair, he sighed, but his body did not stop, and once again blocked the spear that was thrusting at him.

The battle in the fortress gradually tilted towards the coalition forces, and the original defenders gradually collapsed and fell.

"Bang--" Another heavy blow, Isaiah was knocked away with his sword, hit the wall behind him, and then collapsed into it.

The smoke and dust had not yet dissipated, but the knight in heavy armor did not stop, continuing to swing his huge hammer at the collapsed ruins.

Then, a huge explosion erupted in the ruins, and the rhino knight wearing dark gold medium armor was knocked to the ground. His teammates beside him had to stop in order to resist the sudden flames and shock waves.

In the chaos, a griffin swooped down from the sky, pulled Isaiah up, lifted him into the sky, and then disappeared into the horizon.

"Damn it." Looking at the figure that they could not catch up with, the two big knights who could not fly could only stop in anger.

"It's all your fault, Massarando. Why did you use so much force? You hammered this guy into the rubble, which actually gave him time to escape."
