Three days ago, Southern Islands, Hongbei Bay.
Although autumn has arrived on the mainland, the southern islands are still warm. The white sand beaches are surrounded by clear blue waters, and the shells underwater can still be clearly seen in the afternoon sun.
The inside of the shell is white, while the outside is a light red like a rose. The shell is like an undulating wave with different shades of color, which looks very beautiful.
In the early years, this island was named because of its abundant production of these light red shells. Later, due to its good location, it became an important transit station in the western part of the Southern Islands.
The island boasts numerous ports and a bustling tourist flow. On the quieter northern slopes, rows of whitewashed houses are also visible. These low-rise houses are nestled against the hillside, sheltered from the strong sea breeze. Coconut trees, a common local cash crop, also surround the houses.
In a larger house, Mrs. Barya was sitting at the table teaching her children. She held a storybook with beautiful colorful illustrations in her hand. Next to her sat Ig, the little boy that Angus had entrusted.
He stared at the colorful drawings with wide eyes and listened to his mother read:
"Then the girl in the black dress lit the candle in her hand."
“She said to the boy, even so, do you still want to resurrect your parents?”
"Yes, it's all my fault. I was too willful that day and didn't get to say goodbye to them properly until the very end. I wanted to see them one last time."
"Then the candle in the girl's hand burned, and two figures appeared in front of the boy. They smiled and welcomed the child's return."
"Just like that, the boy hugged his parents and fell asleep forever in their arms, never to wake up again."
"Well, that's the end of the story. Ig, did you learn anything from this story?"
Mrs. Barya smiled and stroked the child's head. She looked like a completely different person now. Her expression was serene, her eyes were full of love, and even her chestnut hair became shiny.
"Hmm... I don't quite understand, but this doesn't seem to be a good ending."
"Yes, this story is to tell us to cherish the people and things in front of us, and not wait until we lose them to regret."
“Those who are closest to us are often the easiest to forget.”
"Okay, I understand, Mom." Yige nodded.
"Okay, Yig. Actually, this story also contains a metaphor for something else: parents will eventually grow old and leave their children. You will eventually have to learn to face everything. Remember not to indulge in the illusions of the past like the boy in the book."
"Will Mom grow old too?"
"Yes, so Ig needs to grow up quickly."
"I will."
Just then the door was pushed open, the white afternoon sunlight shone in, and a tall figure appeared at the door. He walked in and spoke.
"Excuse me, Madam Barya, and Ig."
"Ah, it's Uncle Ceres, you're here."
The little boy ran over. Ceres often brought things for the mother and child. He lived not far from here.
"Mr. Ceres?"
Mrs. Barya stood up and greeted him. She was still very grateful to her husband's comrade-in-arms, who had helped her a lot recently, including finding a house, arranging furniture, and hiring teachers, all of which were handled by the former housekeeper.
"Yes, it's me." Ceres squatted down and hugged Iger, then responded to Mrs. Barya's greeting.
"I came here today to discuss something. I'll be away from Hongbei Bay for a while. If Madam Barya or Little Yige have any problems while I'm away, you can contact the fruit shop across the street directly."
"The store manager and employees are all from the Carites Chamber of Commerce. I've already made arrangements with them in advance. If you need anything, they will definitely help you."
"Okay, thank you, and Miss Lacey of Carites."
Mrs. Barya bowed slightly and said gratefully.
"Where are you going? Is it dangerous?"
"It's on another island in the Southern Archipelago. If it's dangerous, I'm fine. I'm just a little worried about the young lady."
Ceres sighed before saying goodbye and leaving.
--------------
The next day, Kelan Island.
The tide at the seaside constantly washes the coast and hits the blue reefs on the shore. There are many holes on the reefs, which are moistened by sea water. Occasionally, a few seabirds stand on the fine rocks, some of which have small fish in their mouths.
The island is covered with dense forests, and among the green treetops there are some tall towers protruding from the woods, overlooking the entire island.
Ceres sat outside a luxurious and understated mahogany door, waiting patiently.
An apprentice wizard pushed open the door. He was wearing a light blue wizard robe and a blue gradient feather headdress on his head.
"Master Geodor has agreed to your request. Please come with me. Remember not to scream or touch anything you see along the way."
"I understand." Ceres stood up and followed, entering the gate.
Sunlight shines into the room through the thick glass. The room is very quiet with stacked books, copper cages, and experimental instruments placed on the table.
"Fool, Vincent, fool, Vincent." A strange voice suddenly sounded above his head.
Ceres looked up and saw a blue bird standing in a cage, speaking.
"Don't pay attention to him, that's all he says." The apprentice in front explained.
"Silly, Vincent, the other party just treats you like a puppy, and you still follow him around wagging his tail every day."
