After the first duel, the venue was briefly quiet. Firstly, many of the audience members were affected by the secret magic of the Fairy Village and became dizzy and unconscious. Second, the venue was overgrown with vines and thorns, and the ground was covered with fallen flowers, which needed to be cleaned up. Third, it was already past noon, and many people were hungry or tired.
So the event came to a brief break.
"Huh, we won the first game, but the ones after that won't be so easy."
In the circular meeting tree hall where the conservatives were, a dozen key figures gathered together to discuss the future arrangements.
"We can only find three candidates who can chant the Fairyland Secrets, and there are seven songs in this competition."
"Although we have obtained some information from the Open Faction, they are keeping the fifth test extremely secret. If there are more than four chanters, it will be difficult for us to win."
"Is there no other way?" A lady looked at her nails and asked slowly.
"At least among our own people, we can no longer find a suitable singer." Another elven sage tapped the table, his fingers moving unconsciously.
"In other words, we must seek external assistance?" Others also thought of this at this moment.
"Yeah, but it's hard."
"First, let me explain the situation. Right now, most people in the forest are on our side or on Westena's side. Elves are generally conservative, but Westena's teacher, the great sage Horathorn, has a huge influence."
"This respected elder has devoted his entire life to the integration of humans and elves. He holds a high reputation not only in the forest, but also among the upper echelons of the empire, the Sages' Council, and even among the nobles of the East."
"Even though he passed away many years ago, the influence and legacy he left behind still supports Westena, allowing her to quickly integrate many forces."
"So we know what happened later. Even when she didn't have the majority of supporters, she was still able to compete with us."
"We can only find three of them here, and we can probably only find three of them among the elves on her side, at most four. However, there are more than just elves in the world. You should know what the Empire encountered when it suppressed the rebellion in the south a few years ago."
"That witch has the ability to chant the secrets of the Fairyland."
"Since she can do it, there may be more human chanters hiding in the empire. This is undoubtedly a huge danger."
"You mean to say that there's a high probability that we'll lose this duel?"
"Based on the intelligence analysis, that's right." The elf scholar nodded.
"Oh, well, I'm used to your speaking style. You always keep things to yourself. Since that's the case based on intelligence analysis, then there are other factors that aren't considered in intelligence analysis."
"That's just how Olaso is. I've known him for over a hundred years and he's always been like that. He always likes to pique people's interest and curiosity."
"So how do we solve this problem now, Lord Sage Olaso~" An elven noblewoman deliberately stretched out her tone and teased the scholar.
"Ahem, I do have an idea, but this method isn't very, uh, aboveboard, or likely to be criticized."
"Tell me about it first."
"Everyone knows the history of the goblin clan, right?"
"Well, the life forms on the World Tree were born earlier than my elves, and they are purer. However, because they love freedom too much, they are unable to form a stable social structure."
"That's one thing, but it's undeniable that fairies are a very special race. Although there are fairies still existing in the forest, compared to past times, things are very different. Not only has the legendary Fairy Queen still not been born, but even a Great Fairy Lord with magical secrets hasn't appeared yet."
"Is this because the World Tree no longer exists? The environment required to hatch fairies is extremely harsh. The fairies born from the Three Sacred Trees today are born with deficiencies, and reaching Sequence 5 is basically their limit. The most powerful great fairy is only Sequence 6, and it is difficult to go any higher. Even before the great changes in the world, after thousands of years of accumulation, they still couldn't break through this level."
"Without the World Tree, the fairy race is doomed to decline."
"What if we can allow the fairy to possess us temporarily? This will make it easier to trigger emotional resonance and make it possible to chant the secrets of the fairy land." The scholar's tone changed.
"Fairies are life forms close to energy. It seems that they can attach themselves to other creatures, but in fact it is harmful to both parties." An old elf tells the secret he knew when he was young.
"Soul disharmony will cause spiritual pollution, or in layman's terms, madness and insanity. This is an extremely evil practice."
"Well, isn't there a way to have the best of both worlds? Let the elves be as pure as the fairies, and let the fairies get rid of their innate deficiencies."
"No, don't think about it, just compete honestly." The old elf shook his head.
"No, there are some. It seems impossible according to common sense, but there are always exceptions beyond common sense, and that is..."
"Witch or holy object?" The sensitive elf thought of this.
"It feels like this is a point of no return. Don't we just want to avoid getting involved with those witches? I think every elf knows how the World Tree burned."
"But now, it's no longer up to us. If we lose, everything will be controlled and directed by the open faction, and there's already a witch in the opposing camp."
"If they can do this, why can't we?"
"No, I still don't agree."
