Chapter 626: Crescent Moon Flag

The houses and buildings seemed to have been deliberately destroyed and set on fire. Fortunately, it rained yesterday, so only a small part of them was burned, and most of them are still preserved.

The two walked in the soft mud after the rain, searching for possible survivors or food.

Unfortunately, the village had been thoroughly ransacked and nothing valuable was left. Finally, they found half a cassava stick that had been soaked and softened in a corner.

"Father..." The older brother stood in front of his house, but unfortunately there was only a pile of ruins in front of him, and there was still a little bloodstain on a crossbeam on the ground.

"Dad won't come back?" asked the younger sister innocently.

"No more..." The brother touched his sister's head, then endured the hunger and took her away, heading deep into the mountains.

A few days later, the two got lost while trekking through the mountains, and were then attracted by a battle in the forest. They sneaked up and observed carefully.

In the mountains surrounded by woods, three orcs holding axes and long swords surrounded a bloody figure in the middle, and the body of an orc had fallen at his feet.

roar--

The orc roared angrily, then swung the long axe in his hand, turning into an arc-shaped afterimage, and rushed forward to smash down.

Blood splattered as the figure barely avoided being struck in the vitals, but large chunks of flesh were also shaved off. However, his goal was achieved, as the bone dagger in his hand slashed a narrow gash in the orc's chest, spilling out flesh and bones.

He rolled and crawled on the ground, using the surrounding trees to avoid the attacks, then rushed forward with a scream, stabbing an orc's body with a dagger. His body looked like he was epileptic, but so fast that it was frightening.

Under such a crazy attack, three enemy orcs were injured one after another, and he was not much better off. In the end, he was cut in half by the orcs, and half of his body rolled to the ground. The air was filled with a strong and disgusting smell of blood.

Several orcs were just about to roar a few times and go forward to abuse them to vent their dissatisfaction and anger, but they didn't take a few steps before they fell down in the mountains in pain, gasping for breath violently, with purple corners of their mouths.

The brother and sister watched the scene in the distance in fear, until all of them died one by one and stopped breathing.

After instructing his sister, the brother covered his mouth and nose with his clothes and walked over carefully. He knew there might be some kind of poison here, but the two of them hadn't eaten for several days and couldn't bear it any longer.

He staggered over the corpses and reached for the orcs' waists, trying to find any possible rations.

At this moment, a hand suddenly grabbed his ankle.

He screamed terrified and struggled to run away, but the wrist was not as strong as he thought and was broken free in an instant.

Only then did he turn around and look back, seeing the man with only half of his body left. He was leaning against the tree trunk, looking at the boy with a difficult and relieved smile on his face, as if his life had been redeemed.

So he is still alive, the boy thought.

Trembling, as if using up all his strength, he raised his hand and waved to the boy.

The boy hesitated, then slowly walked over and squatted in front of the man to see if he had any last words.

A hand grabbed his wrist, and then a piercing pain entered the boy's head. He struggled to break free from the man's wrist again, and this time the man finally fell to the ground and closed his eyes.

Looking at this scene, the boy took a few steps back in disbelief, then looked at the palm of his hand, where a faint red magic emerged.

Whenever that kind of magic flows through the body, it will bring a burst of pain, but at the same time, that kind of power is so vivid that it makes people aware of the traces of life.

He seemed to understand something, squatted down again, picked up the dagger beside the man, and then walked back with some safe dry food.

——————

Sister Senna looked at her brother's back with some curiosity. He seemed to be hiding from her and doing other things recently.

Now the two of them have fled to another remote village and settled down temporarily.

Time passed, and another two years passed.

In the past two years, the number of villages where humans live has become fewer and fewer, and life has become increasingly difficult. Many humans from other places have fled to this small place deep in the mountains.

Faced with this situation, the adults in the village began to quarrel.

Some say that we shouldn’t accept so many people. As long as we can live in peace, why take the risk of caring about others?

Some people also say that having more strength is always good and it will be safer in the long run.

This debate continued until one day when traces of orcs appeared again not far from the village. Everyone knew that it was useless to talk about it now and could only actively prepare for war, because behind them were the towering Mountains of Sighs and they had no way to retreat.

The battle started with great difficulty and many people died, but under the leadership of some special extraordinary people, they also achieved considerable results. The orcs who were tracking them were killed in the valley.

But the joy after the victory did not last long, as another group of orcs came.

Under such heavy pressure, more and more people in the village began to learn that special supernatural power, and the sister also discovered her brother's secret.

"You are also using that power, brother." Senna looked at her somewhat mature brother.

"Yes." This time the other party admitted it readily.

"But I heard that anyone who practices that kind of extraordinary sequence basically won't live for more than a few years..." The younger sister looked at the somewhat unfamiliar brother in front of her. He seemed to be taller and much colder.

"So what? Isn't it a good deal to exchange your life for power, my naive sister?" The brother no longer cared about his sister's feelings as he did in the past.
