Winter is coming.
The snow fell quietly, and the tiny snowflakes and ice crystals gathered together fluffy, slowly floating down from the sky, falling into this slightly quiet world.
Emenas College is about to usher in a new Winter Festival Gala. Which student this year will win a good ranking in the competition and become the envy of everyone?
Wearing a scarf and gloves, third-grader Rosatina stamped her feet on the steps to shake off the snowflakes on her body before entering the warm hall.
Inside the castle by the lake, the ancient alchemy circle was still running, bringing waves of warmth that gradually relaxed the originally tense faces.
Rosatina carried her square schoolbag, placed it on the side of the bench, and sat down for a while. Then she lowered her hood, untied her gloves, and blew on her stiff hands.
Although she was already a transcendent, she still had some difficulty adapting to the cold. Using magic to warm her body was possible, but it also consumed her energy, like trying to do two things at once, and it was easy to get distracted.
So when studying or reading, Rosatina is used to finding a warm place.
Many students lingered in the castle's hall, some sitting quietly, others chatting in groups of three or four. Although lively, the atmosphere was not noisy, but rather tranquil. Small, shimmering, seven-colored lanterns hung on the buildings within the hall. It was said that these were some kind of alchemical artifacts, much simpler and easier to create than in the past, and therefore becoming more common.
These colorful little lights were not only hung from the hall's empty dome, but some were also placed among the frost-green branches. The emerald green frost was woven into rings, with some crimson berries among them, forming a huge garland that was arranged on the wall in the center of the hall.
Moving your eyes down the wall, you will see a circular lighted stage. There are no people standing on it, but past images are played using extraordinary props.
Those past graduates, who were once genius seniors, armed with sharp blades, longbows, musical instruments, etc., fought or performed in the images, one by one flashing by. Although there is no sound, one can still imagine the beauty of that era from their peerless figures.
After sitting in the warm hall for a while, Rosatina remembered something and opened the schoolbag beside her, took out a purple plaid stuffed bear and held it in her arms.
"Huh, you finally remembered me?" The teddy bear complained a little, but it was also used to the girl forgetting things.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Albert. I was too nervous during the assessment and haven't been able to get over it." Rosatina was talking about the assessment she had taken for the 'Black Water Lily' club today.
Although this club has a huge influence in the Walled City Academy, it does not have many formal members, and most of them are scattered among the subordinate surrounding clubs.
"Forget it. Looking at you, I can probably guess what happened." The little bear moved slightly, emitting some heat, warming Rosatina's palms.
Feeling the warmth of the fur, Rosatina smiled faintly. "Thank you, Mr. Bear."
"That's not necessary. Also, what's the result? Did you pass the final round of assessment?"
"Well, I passed. Although it was a bit difficult, thankfully the vice president recognized me and allowed me to join."
"Hearing you say that, is it really that difficult?" Albert thought back to the past. At that time, Roland recruited people very casually. Even a kid like Lily Ye Ling who was trying to take advantage of the situation could get in easily.
"Yes, it's difficult." Rosatina smiled.
"My family isn't wealthy, but as for schooling, the school subsidies are pretty good. But getting some rare raw materials and resources is not easy."
"'Black Water Lily' merged with the former 'True Red Rose' and is now the most powerful club among the students of the Walled City. Every year, we receive sponsorship from all sides and have a wealth of resources. Some of the latest experimental equipment and ingredients are only available to this club."
"I remember there are some in the college too. Emenas is very wealthy." Little Bear talked about the scenes he had seen in the past. At that time, Roland often borrowed some instruments and facilities from the college.
"Yes, but there are so many applicants, it's never enough. I'm not a genius who can always succeed in one go." Rosatina rubbed the bear as she spoke. She longed to spend the entire day in the library and lab, greedily absorbing knowledge and putting it into practice and verification. Translating book knowledge into reality brought a strange sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, which then led her to continue searching for the same or similar things, never tiring of it. Naturally, this activity far exceeded the limits of daily student use, so even the college's labs couldn't satisfy her.
"Also, I heard that students from the 'Black Water Lily' club will receive preferential treatment in finding jobs after graduation." Rosatina talked about the news she had heard recently.
"Did you know that the current Queen of the Crimson Empire was once a graduate of the 'Black Water Lily' club?"
"Is there still this?" Albert the teddy bear thought, maybe it was someone he didn't know during his sleep. After all, it had been more than ten years since Roland founded the club.
"Well, it is said that she is a first-generation member, Her Majesty Lily Esther."
"Hey, wait, you mean Lily?" Albert recalled that Roland rarely brought him to the Walled City Academy, but on the few times he came, he knew about the girl Lily.
Although she is a bit cute, she is not outstanding. Compared with other talented members in the club, such as Roland, Bumansa, Weimiya and others, she has almost no special features except that she is a bit lazy and cute.
"Do you know Mr. Albert?" Rosatina asked curiously.
