Chapter 77: Unveiling the Mystery

Loran Hill fell from the sky, and the oncoming night wind flowed past her ears. The gentle wind pressure brought a sense of comfort. No matter how many times, she never got tired of this feeling of walking in the wind.

She slowly landed on the balcony, her pure white dress fluttering in the air before slowly falling back down. Her emerald eyes shone like gemstones in the night, then gradually faded, returning to their normal state. She made no sound, and with her keen senses, she easily avoided the sight of the guards in the courtyard.

She quietly walked into the bedroom, the door still locked. She traced her fingers through the air, a gentle breeze blew through, and the candle went out. Then she opened the window, letting the night breeze swirl through the bedroom, clearing the previously intoxicating air. Finally, she closed the curtains, lay down on the bed, and finally fell asleep peacefully.

This night was also exceptionally peaceful and sweet.

The next morning, when Loran Hill walked out of her bedroom, the four maids outside the door greeted her as usual.

They first brought hot water for Loran Hill to wash her face, then one of them helped the girl comb her hair and tied the two strands of hair beside her ears into thin braids. Then the two braids met at the back of her head and tied with a light red bow that gave her a slightly girlish feel. Finally, they hung down from the middle to her back, higher than the other waist-length hair.

Loran Hill shook her head in front of the mirror, her long golden hair rubbing against her red dress and then falling down like silk.

"Pell, you do such a great job on my hair."

"Miss, you're too kind. Your hair was already perfect, I just fixed it a little bit."

"Yeah, but something is better than nothing, right?"

"Yes." The maid finally adjusted the hair near Loran Hill's ears before putting down the comb.

"How long has Per been in Callites?" the girl asked after looking in the mirror.

"About five years. Because my father traveled extensively with Lord Angus, I was able to successfully join the headquarters."

"Is a maid's job hard?"

"It's not hard at all. Headquarters is well staffed and there's no shortage of staff. We often have time to rest."

“I see…”

Then Loran Hill walked into the restaurant, where Chelsea was already waiting.

"Good morning, Miss."

"Morning Chelsea."

According to the usual arrangement, these maids would leave temporarily, and Chelsea would report some things during breakfast, but today Loran Hill asked Per to stay.

As Loran Hill and Chelsea talked, she stood aside, calm at first, then becoming increasingly uneasy, and her long legs wrapped in white stockings began to tremble slightly.

Loran Hill continued to ask Chelsea about her investigation into yesterday's assassination, and then slowly discussed the motives of the Helis family guards for the assassination.

"Pell, why would someone whose family and relatives work at the Chamber of Commerce betray them? Is it because the Chamber of Commerce treats them badly?"

"I...I don't know..." Per's body was shaking, his face was pale, and his voice was trembling slightly.

"I see."

Loran Hill took a sip of hot tea and slowly thought about how to deal with the personal maid who poisoned dinner and the candles in the room.

"There are some remote islands in the Southern Berry Kingdom, and the branch there is always short of staff. Are you willing to work there for twenty years?"

"I do. I do."

She knelt on the ground trembling, her head on the ground, and spoke with a sob.

"Okay, pack up today and say hello to your parents and family. Their lives will go on as usual and won't be affected by you."

"Thank you, Miss. I...I'm sorry."

She knelt on the ground with red eyes and tears flowing uncontrollably. Her forehead was covered with dust and bruises.

"Well, that's it." After saying that, Loran Hill stood up and left the restaurant where the crying sounded.

Chelsea called several other maids from outside the door to follow Pearl, and then followed Loran Hill away.

The two of them walked through the corridor in the courtyard, and the head maid still did not ask any questions, which made the girl curious.

"Sister Chelsea, aren't you curious about what happened just now?"

"Why do you need to explain to me what you want to do, Miss?" Chelsea's words were flat.

This is not good. The head maid is actually angry. Loran Hill turned around and looked at the head maid who was wearing glasses and dressed smartly.

"sorry."

"Why are you apologizing to me, Miss? You are the master."

"I'm sorry~" Loran Hill tried to get away with it.

"Alas... Miss, you are always like this, even on that rainy night before. Can't you take care of yourself?"

"What if Pell has a backup plan? What if he has other accomplices? If something happens to you, what will happen to such a huge chamber of commerce?"

Chelsea expressed her worries and dissatisfaction.

But I know she has no backup plan, and there are no other accomplices among the maids, Loran Hill thought, but he couldn't explain how he knew, so he could only nod in agreement.

The two then talked all the way and finally came to the Chamber of Commerce's study, which was where Loran Hill usually worked.

After finishing some matters, Loran Hill asked Chelsea to invite Ceres over. While waiting, she began to slowly recall the life of the old butler.

When he was young, he was a minor noble in West Wind. Later, he joined the army and became an officer in West Wind's war against the barbarians. After the war, he worked as a mercenary for a while. Later, he met Angus, and the two became close friends. He assisted Angus in managing the affairs of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a core figure in Carites. He was experienced, meticulous, and rarely made mistakes, which won the recognition of most people in the Chamber of Commerce.
