"Don't want to?" Jiu Yin's eyes widened in disbelief. "Why not? Why not?" Jiu Yin's eyes darted around helplessly, then she tried a different approach to entice Xu Yi: "Think about it, think about it... When you come out, when you come out you can kill me. Don't you want to kill me? Don't you want to rid the world of all evil? How can you do that without the power? Listen to me, listen to me, go and eat it. As long as you eat this snake, you can become the one who sets the rules... Think about it, then everyone will listen to you and dare not do evil anymore. Isn't that a good thing? Listen to me, listen to me..."
"You're insane, you're really insane..." Xu Yi took two steps back, looking at Jiu Yin with a face full of denial: "I did want to save him, and I did want to kill you, but you've gone astray... I don't want to, I absolutely don't want to become like you..." Xu Yi retreated again, instinctively moving away from Jiu Yin at this moment... She was disgusted by Jiu Yin's shameless methods of seduction, and even more pitied his insane, inhuman end...
She stepped back, ignoring the sound of the Fareed activating above her head, and turned to look for Bai Da in the shadows...
Bai Da slowly emerged from the shadows and approached Xu Yi little by little... Xu Yi saw the gentle smile in Bai Da's eyes. She walked over, squatted down, picked up Bai Da's still intact head, and gently leaned against it: "Bai Da, although I can't save you, I can go to the underworld with you..."
Xu Yi's voice was extremely soft, so Jiu Yin outside the altar naturally couldn't hear it. He was furious at Xu Yi's stubborn attitude and said fiercely, "Fine, if you won't listen to me, then die with that long worm..." After saying that, he increased the power of the formation...
The even thicker bolts of lightning struck down one after another, but Bai Da curled up his massive body, enveloping Xu Yi within it, and single-handedly withstood all the lightning bolts...
Only then did Xu Yi see that many parts of Bai Da's body were like that tailbone, without flesh, just a piece of bone, covered in blood, which stained Xu Yi's eyes. Xu Yi cried uncontrollably. She circulated the black bead in her body, allowing the ghostly energy to gradually cover Bai Da's entire body, and together with Bai Da, she withstood the impact of the magic lightning...
"So united now..." Jiu Yin's mocking voice came from outside the altar: "But it's all death, no difference, hahaha... I'll be waiting to collect your corpses..." The voice faded into the distance and then disappeared.
Apart from the sound of the falling lightning, the altar returned to silence...
"Xu Yi, it's my fault that you're in trouble."
Bai Da's gentle voice echoed in her mind. Xu Yi shook her head: "No, Bai Da, it's because I'm not strong enough to save you... Let's work together and hold on for a few more hours until Bai Er and Wu Zi come to rescue us... If... if we really can't wait for them, let's reincarnate together and start anew..."
After a long, long time, Bai Da's weak voice finally responded: "Okay."
Within the formation, each day felt like an eternity, every minute and second stretched out countless times. Waves of magical lightning rained down, striking Xu Yi's ghostly energy and striking Bai Da's mangled body...
Every moment was torture... Xu Yi finally understood why Bai Da's crawling was so slow. It was because the lightning bolts struck his body and traveled throughout his meridians, destroying everything in their path... By the time one wave of lightning had passed, the meridians inside his body were already severely damaged... But before he could even catch his breath, the next wave of lightning had already struck...
At first, the body's meridians can repair themselves, but as time goes by, the speed of repair can't keep up with the speed of destruction... The meridians begin to collapse little by little, and the self-repair becomes slower and slower. In the end, there is no more energy left to repair, and the meridians become more and more damaged...
His whole body was in excruciating pain... When Daoyin woke up on the third day, he saw Xu Yi lying motionless and barely alive in the altar. He questioned Jiuyin, "What are you doing? Why did you lock Xu Yi up there?"
"What am I doing?" Jiu Yin glared back fiercely. "They know each other, can't you tell? She's here to save that snake."
"Whatever her reason for coming here, she shouldn't be treated like this because she hasn't done anything wrong... She hasn't been involved in any cause and effect that she shouldn't have, and she has never done anything wrong, so there's no reason for you to imprison her..."
“Pedantic…”
"Release her..." Daoyin stepped forward and approached Jiuyin: "Release her, or you can go to the Imperial Observatory yourself! Today is the day to see the results of the verification formation."
Jiu Yin was silent for a moment, then narrowed his eyes, smiled and looked at Xiang Yin: "Junior brother, look, she's not dead yet, she can hold out until noon tomorrow. Go and come back quickly today, and if there's nothing unusual when you return, I'll release her, how about that?"
"Are you threatening me?"
"Aren't you threatening me too, junior brother?"
"If you don't release Xu Yi today, I'll take you to the Imperial Observatory to face the righteous sects' wrath!" Daoyin also narrowed his eyes, mimicking Jiuyin: "You don't actually think I can't capture you, do you, Senior Brother?"
After speaking, Daoyin took a step back and patted the storage bag at his waist. A huge purple-gold gourd flew out and hovered in the air, spinning towards Jiuyin... The gourd's speed increased, and a stronger and stronger suction force emanated from it. Jiuyin quickly took out his peach wood sword and nailed it to the ground to try to stabilize himself, but he still couldn't stop himself from getting closer and closer to the gourd...
Jiuyin quickly begged for mercy: "Alright, alright, junior brother, I'll release her right away, but she still can't leave this place until this matter is over..."
"Okay." Daoyin nodded and put the purple-gold gourd back into his storage bag.
Jiu Yin glared at the storage bag at Dao Yin's waist and muttered, "Master actually gave you all of this..." Then, very resentfully, he stretched out his palm with his five fingers forming a claw and pointed at Xu Yi. A huge suction force lifted Xu Yi up, and then the door of the altar opened. Xu Yi was pulled out of the altar and thrown to the ground by the suction force.
Xu Yi was in pain all over her body and couldn't move at all. She lay on the ground and couldn't even lift her head. Then, Dao Yin helped Xu Yi up and sat her down next to the altar. He asked her, "Do you know that great demon?"
Xu Yi wanted to lie, but she couldn't get past her own conscience, so she nodded slightly.
"Hmph..." came a cold snort from the side.
Daoyin ignored him and continued to say to Xu Yi, "He suffered this terrible consequence because he intervened in an evil cause that should not have been intervened in... I told you that."
Xu Yi nodded: "Yes, you said that."
"You still want to save him?"
“He…is my friend…” Xu Yi was in pain all over, and spoke very slowly: “Besides, he doesn’t deserve to die…”
Daoyin shook his head and said self-deprecatingly, "I was wondering why I could run into a brat like you so easily. So that's why..." After saying that, he glanced at Jiuyin and Bai Da in the altar and spoke again, "This is his karma and his karma. You don't need to get involved. Just stay here and wait for this matter to be resolved." After saying that, he stood up and left.
Seeing Daoyin leave, Jiuyin glared at Xu Yi with resentment: "Hmph... just stay put!" Then she left too, leaving Xu Yi alone, leaning against the altar tower, gazing at the white figure within...
Suddenly, an unexpected change occurred. The wooden sword at Xu Yi's waist transformed into a wisp of black energy, which shot straight upwards but was intercepted by the formation. Then, it spun once before breaking through the formation like a wisp of smoke...
With Brother Tong? Xu Yi looked at the empty belt and fell into a deep sleep, relieved.
The wisp of black energy flew away at lightning speed, reaching the Imperial Observatory even faster than a sound guide. It then transformed into a long sword and slashed down towards the Observatory Director's room...
The supervisor opened his eyes and used his whisk to resist the attack before leisurely saying, "What's the rush? Those juniors will handle it themselves; nothing will happen..."
A cold snort echoed through the air, and then the black broadsword vanished, leaving only a trembling shadow on the ground. The supervisor looked at the shadow and said, "Go and report the news," before turning back to continue his meditation.
The shadow swam up to Wu Zi's side, startling Wu Zi so much that he got goosebumps all over. Then, he looked at the shadow with delight: "Do you know where Xu Yi is?"
Shadow nodded and then led the way... Wu Zi quickly patted Bai Er and the other followed Shadow southwards... When they arrived at the place Xu Yi had marked with ghostly energy, Wu Zi was both amused and exasperated...
With such a faint ghostly aura, it was already quite sensitive for the array to even light up for a moment… He and Bai Er exchanged a glance, and as soon as they approached, they sensed the array. Wu Zi looked around at the surrounding environment and finally found the reason for the array's concealment. After Wu Zi broke the array, its full appearance was finally revealed before their eyes. In the very center was a huge circular altar, from which magical lightning continuously struck. Around it stood many sacrificial towers, and Xu Yi was leaning against one of the sacrificial towers…
"Xu Yi..." Wu Zi called out, but Xu Yi inside the formation didn't react at all, and Wu Zi's heart clenched...
Upon seeing the array in the center, Bai Er knew that the person inside the altar was his brother. He immediately transformed into his original form, rising up and biting into the array. His huge, sharp teeth jammed into the array, and streams of reckless magical power surged down, gradually covering the entire magical barrier...
This commotion naturally alerted Jiu Yin. He looked at the enormous snake head outside the protective barrier and knew it was his younger brother, who shared the same origin. Once his full magical power covered the barrier, it would shatter...
He quickly channeled his energy to repair the formation, sighing inwardly: if only he had a little more time, he could have completely refined his brother, but unexpectedly, his younger brother found him at this moment...
Wu Zi looked at the rotating array on both the upper and lower levels and began to break it little by little. With two people outside the array working together, it was naturally much faster than one person inside repairing it...
Three-quarters of an hour later, Wu Zi and Bai Er finally broke the formation. With a 'bang,' the magic shield shattered bit by bit like a mirror, and Jiu Yin also spat out a mouthful of blood due to the backlash from the broken formation...
He glared fiercely at Bai Er and Wu Zi, and recklessly began to absorb the surrounding blood energy. As the blood energy entered his body, it instantly ruptured Jiu Yin's meridians... How could a human body of a few decades withstand the essence of a thousand-year-old snake demon...
But he went berserk, controlling the power of his blood and qi to gather in his palm, and threw a punch at Wu Zi...
