13? Chapter 13

13 Chapter 13

We are not...

The next morning, sunlight streamed into the room through the gauze curtains. Sang Xinqi woke up from her sleep and stared at the ceiling for a few minutes.

She didn't know what she was thinking about, but a sweet smile appeared on her lips. Then she threw off the quilt, jumped out of bed, and ran to the bathroom to wash up! She hummed a little tune.

After she finished washing up and stood in front of the wardrobe, she was rarely conflicted. Her fingers lingered among a row of clothes for a long time, and finally she chose a pure cotton white dress.

She dressed quickly.

"It seems like something is missing..." She tilted her head in front of the full-length mirror and suddenly found that her lips were a little pale.

She found a lipstick from the dressing table and applied it carefully.

The girl in the mirror suddenly became brighter, even her eyes became brighter.

After packing up, she walked out of the bedroom.

"Hey, where are you going?" Sang Guoyu, who was having breakfast in the restaurant, looked up and saw his daughter dressed up carefully, and asked with raised eyebrows.

Sang Xinqi skipped over to her mother's side, her skirt swaying gracefully. "I've made an appointment with a friend to see a movie."

"Boy?" Sang Guoyu keenly noticed the blush on her daughter's ears. This reaction didn't seem like she was going out with that kid Jiang Xun.

"Hmm..." Sang Xinqi twisted her fingers, her voice as soft as a mosquito's hum, "It's Liao Yishen, Aunt Li's son."

Sang Guoyu put down his chopsticks and looked at his daughter thoughtfully.

Only after seeing her daughter's eyelashes fluttering with nervousness did she slowly speak, "That child is really good. He has good grades and is sensible. You should learn from him."

"Mom, I understand," Sang Xinqi blushed and threw herself into her mother's arms. The fragrance of shampoo in her hair lingered on Sang Guoyu's nose.

"Alright, alright," Sang Guoyu smiled and pushed her away. "I'm warming up your breakfast in the pot. Go and eat it."

"Okay, Mom," the girl's excited back disappeared at the kitchen door. Sang Guoyu looked at the white figure with a gentle smile in her eyes.

The sunlight outside the window seemed brighter, and even the milk on the table was reflected with fine golden light.

It was only nine o'clock when Sang Xinqi finished breakfast, and there were still two hours until the agreed time.

She sat on the sofa in the living room, absentmindedly playing games on her phone, and from time to time she looked up at the wall clock. The hour hand moved exceptionally slowly, as if deliberately against her.

After Sang Guoyu finished washing the pot and hanging up the clothes, she saw her daughter still hanging around in the living room. She couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you going out to see a movie? Why haven't you left yet?"

Sang Xinqi turned her head, her fingers unconsciously clasping the sofa, and pouted slightly, "We agreed to meet at 11 o'clock."

"Then why do you get up so early?" Sang Guoyu raised her eyebrows.

"Can't sleep?" Sang Xinqi blinked, and a smile that could not be concealed appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Sang Guoyu could see through her daughter's little thoughts, but she was more worried because her daughter had grown up and had some little thoughts.

She wiped her hands, walked to the sofa and sat down, her tone gentle but serious, "Sangsang, you will be an adult next year. You must remember what your mother has always told you."

She paused, "There are some things where boundaries must be maintained."

Sang Xinqi's ears warmed. From childhood to adulthood, her mother had never been shy about talking to her about these things. She nodded solemnly, "I know, Mom."

"Mom believes you know your limits," Sang Guoyu touched her hair and said nothing more.

_

The time finally reached ten fifty. Sang Xinqi grabbed her small bag and rushed out of the house, her steps as light as a butterfly.

From a distance, she saw Liao Yishen standing at the entrance of the community. The boy's thin figure was gilded by the sunlight, and the corner of his shirt was gently lifted by the breeze.

"Liao Yishen!" She trotted over and stopped two steps away from him, breathing slightly.

The young man turned around when he heard the voice, and his pupils dilated slightly when his eyes fell on her.

The sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, dappling onto the girl's white dress. She had tied her long hair into a playful bun today, revealing a section of her porcelain-white neck.

The bright red on her cherry lips is like a rose suddenly blooming in the snow, so bright that people can't take their eyes off it.

Liao Yishen's Adam's apple moved, and it took him a while to find his voice, "You..."

Sang Xinqi felt inexplicably nervous, and looked at him with a pair of bright eyes, "What's wrong with me?"

She swallowed, waiting for his answer.

He hastily turned his face away, "It's beautiful today."

Sang Xinqi lowered her head and smiled, the blush on her cheeks brighter than her lipstick.

If he had just met Liao Yishen, he would never have said such words.

She understood her own feelings. She had a good impression of him from the beginning. At first, it was because he was handsome, and then she was slowly attracted to him.

However, she guessed that Liao Yishen must have some feelings for her, otherwise, based on his personality, he would not have agreed to watch a movie with her.

"Shall we go by bike?" Sang Xinqi tilted her head to look at the bicycle leaning against the roadside, the wheels shining metallically in the sunlight.

Liao Yishen raised his hand to block the glaring sunlight and said, "Let's take a taxi. It's too hot to ride a bike in this weather."

"That bicycle..."

"I locked it on the side of the road," Liao Yishen took out a U-shaped lock from his bag, "I brought the lock with me, it's very safe."

When locking the car, the boy bent over and the outline of his shoulder blades was faintly visible under his shirt. Sang Xinqi hurriedly looked away and stared at her white sneakers in a daze.

"Let's go," Liao Yishen stopped a taxi and opened the door for her naturally.

"Master, go to Tiantian Square," Liao Yishen's voice sounded particularly clear in the closed carriage.

The driver was a warm-hearted middle-aged man. He looked at them in the rearview mirror and said, "Hey, you don't look that old?"

Sang Xinqi answered subconsciously, "Seventeen years old."

"Are you guys dating? Young people these days are dating so early," the driver said with a smile, "the two kids we just picked up were only fifteen..."

"We are not!" Sang Xinqi said subconsciously.

She looked at Liao Yishen in panic, but met a pair of smiling eyes.

She paused and changed the subject, "I heard...a new spicy hot pot restaurant opened in Tiantian Plaza..."

"Well, we'll go later," Liao Yishen's voice was gentle.

The three-kilometer journey was completed in the blink of an eye.

Just as Sang Xinqi was about to take out her wallet, Liao Yishen had already scanned the code to pay the fare.

Tiantian Square is bustling with people on weekends.

Children were playing by the fountain, balloons were floating in the air, and the cries of people selling candied haws came from the distance. Sang Xinqi took a deep breath, and the air was filled with the sweet aroma of cotton candy.

Just as she was smelling the sweet scent of cotton candy, a hand suddenly stretched out to protect her side, and a nervous voice sounded in her ear, "Be careful."

Upon hearing this, Sang Xinqi's whole body stiffened, and the faint scent of osmanthus lingered at the tip of her nose.

It turned out that a child on a skateboard passed by her and almost hit her.

Liao Yishen lowered his arms, "That kid is too impulsive and doesn't look at passersby."

"Well, luckily you're here, otherwise I would have fallen down," Sang Xinqi said with lingering fear.

Liao Yishen hummed, "Let's go."

Sang Xinqi nodded, and the two walked side by side towards the Malatang restaurant.

The scorching summer sun cannot stop people from going out. It is dinner time and the store is almost full. The steaming heat and the spicy and fragrant smell hit the face.

"There are so many people here," Sang Xinqi frowned slightly and muttered softly.

Liao Yishen glanced around and quickly found an empty table in the corner. "This way."

She followed him and sat down on the wooden bench, which was still warm from the sun.

This old-fashioned Malatang restaurant is well-known in the neighborhood for its rich soup base and fresh ingredients. The two of them made their own selections and reported them to the boss.

The air conditioner was whirring, but it couldn't beat the heat in the store. And we hadn't even started eating yet! Beads of sweat quickly formed on the tip of Sang Xinqi's nose.

She fanned herself with her hands. "The only downside to eating this in the summer is that it's too hot."

"Yeah," Liao Yishen responded, his eyes falling on her cheeks which were slightly red from the heat. "I'm going to buy something to drink. You wait here?"

"Ah?" Sang Xinqi stood up subconsciously, "I'll go with you..."

"The seat might be taken," he pointed around, where some people were already waiting for a seat.

She looked around and had to sit back down again, "Okay."

Watching him disappear through the glass door, Sang Xinqi sighed softly. Time seemed to stretch out, and she fiddled with her chopsticks idly until the boss brought two bowls of steaming hot ma la tang, and then Liao Yishen hurried back.

"The timing is perfect!" Her eyes lit up.

He pushed a cup of iced fruit tea in front of her, and the condensed water droplets on the wall of the cup spread out a small water mark on the table.

Then he handed me a small fan the size of a palm. I pressed the switch and a cool breeze blew in my face.

"Wow!" Sang Xinqi took it in surprise, her eyes shining like stars, "Liao Yishen, you are such a nice and thoughtful wife!"

Liao Yishen lowered his head and unpacked the disposable chopsticks. His Adam's apple moved, "It's too hot."

But she clearly saw that the tips of his ears were redder than chili oil.

After finishing the spicy hot pot, beads of sweat appeared on both of their foreheads. Liao Yishen stood up to pay the bill, but Sang Xinqi gently grabbed the corner of his clothes.

"I've paid," she shook her phone, the screen still stuck on the successful payment page.

Liao Yishen was stunned for a moment, "Okay."

His eyes stayed on her face for a second, then quickly moved away.

The moment she pushed open the door, a heat wave hit her in the face. It was even hotter than inside the store. Sang Xinqi quickly turned on the small fan, and the cool breeze blew through her hair, bringing a touch of freshness.

"It'll be cooler in the mall," Liao Yishen said, calmly slowing down his pace to match hers.

Sang Xinqi glanced at the time and said, "It's only half past twelve. Do you want to go to the game city and play for a while?" Her eyes sparkled, as if filled with stars.

"Okay," Liao Yishen raised the corners of his mouth slightly.

The two first went to the fifth floor to buy movie tickets for the afternoon show, and then went to the game city on the underground first floor. Before they reached the door, cheerful music and cheers came out.

"Wow, what a lively scene!" Sang Xinqi looked around excitedly, like a child discovering a new world. She suddenly pointed to a corner and said, "Let's go play that dance machine!"

Liao Yishen looked in the direction of her finger, his expression frozen for a moment. But seeing her expectant eyes, he nodded.

Sang Xinqi nimbly jumped onto the machine, inserted a coin, and danced lightly to the rhythm. Seeing Liao Yishen still standing there, she smiled and waved, "This is for two!"

Liao Yishen stood stiffly on the machine, his movements as clumsy as a little bear that had just learned to walk. After stepping on several wrong beats in a row, the tips of his ears were so red that blood seemed to be dripping out.

"Liao Yishen!" Sang Xinqi suddenly called him.

Seeing him turn his head, she smiled slyly, "Let's go play racing, that's more suitable for you."

This time it was Liao Yishen's turn to show his skills.

His slender fingers flexibly controlled the steering wheel, and every turn was precise, but Sang Xinqi was in a panic, and the car swayed from side to side on the screen.

"I'm so bad..." She let go of the steering wheel in frustration.

"Follow the prompts," Liao Yishen leaned forward to instruct. A faint sweet scent of osmanthus wafted from him. Sang Xinqi stared at him unconsciously. His eyelashes cast fine shadows under the light, and his Adam's apple rolled slightly as he spoke.

He has a really nice voice.

Although... she didn't hear a word he said.
