47 Chapter 47
◎Then I will keep working hard next time to make you more satisfied◎
After a thrilling game of badminton, both of them were sweating slightly. After saying goodbye to Teacher Meng, they walked out of the gym side by side.
The cold winter wind blew in our faces, and the biting cold made us shiver.
"It's so cold," Sang Xinqi shrank her neck, the white breath she exhaled condensing in the air. "It was warm just now, and now the temperature has dropped so suddenly."
Liao Yishen naturally held her cold hand, and waves of warmth came from his warm palm, "Let's go back quickly."
When we returned to the Sang family's old house, Auntie was still busy cleaning the house.
However, Sang Xinqi's boudoir had been tidied. The two pushed the door open and walked in. Liao Yishen casually picked up a book on the bedside and started reading it, but accidentally dropped a photo. In the photo, he was standing on the sidewalk under the shade of a sycamore tree, with mottled sunlight shining on his shoulders through the gaps between the leaves.
"This is..." As soon as he picked up the photo, Sang Xinqi quickly snatched it away.
"You were so young and innocent back then," she tilted her head to look at the photo, with a smile on her eyes and eyebrows.
Liao Yishen raised his eyebrows and chuckled, "What about now?"
"Of course not as pretty as before," Sang Xinqi winked mischievously.
"When was the photo taken? I don't know, I have no recollection of it at all," he said, leaning in for a closer look.
Sang Xinqi tapped the edge of the photo with her fingertips. "I think I took it while we were shopping. The sun was shining brightly, and you looked so handsome standing there, so I took the picture. When I got home, the more I looked at it, the more beautiful it became. I printed it out and looked at it every day. Then, I don't know how it ended up in this book."
Hearing this, Liao Yishen's heart skipped a beat. He suddenly leaned over and gave her a light kiss on the lips.
"Why did you kiss me suddenly?" Sang Xinqi covered her mouth and widened her eyes.
"I like you so much, I can't help myself," he smiled righteously.
Sang Xinqi stood on tiptoe, unwilling to be outdone, but he deliberately tilted his head back to avoid her, and only kissed her well-defined jaw.
"Liao Yishen!" She stamped her feet angrily, "Why can you kiss me, but I can't kiss you back?"
"You can't blame me?" His eyes were full of teasing.
Before he finished speaking, Sang Xinqi had already stepped forward, pressed him to sit on the rattan chair, cupped his cheeks with both hands, and gave him a firm "bo" kiss on the lips. The crisp sound was particularly clear in the room.
"Now we got the kiss," she raised her chin proudly, her eyes full of smiles.
Liao Yishen retracted his arms and embraced her slender waist. Sang Xinqi was caught off guard and fell onto his lap, but she stubbornly straightened her back and raised her chin in protest, "No, my waist is so sore."
"Then what makes you feel comfortable?" He asked with a low laugh, his warm breath brushing against her ears.
Sang Xinqi's eyes flickered as she suddenly and deftly broke free from his embrace. She straddled her legs and sat on his lap, facing him. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and shook her head triumphantly, "That's much better!"
The two of them fit tightly together. Liao Yishen held her waist firmly with both hands, his Adam's apple moving slightly, "Indeed... it's better."
Sang Xinqi smiled when she heard that, and the ends of her hair brushed across his cheek, carrying a faint scent of shampoo.
The two laughed and joked in the room for a long time. At lunchtime, they ordered takeout, and Sang Xinqi carefully prepared a portion for the aunt who was still cleaning.
The afternoon sun was shining brightly, and they went to the library they used to go to often together, found a novel, sat side by side in their usual seats, occasionally smiling at each other for the wonderful passages, letting time flow quietly as they turned the pages.
At around three o'clock in the afternoon, my aunt called and said that the cleaning was done.
When Liao Yishen saw her hang up the phone, he asked, "Have you finished cleaning?"
Sang Xinqi nodded, "Okay."
Liao Yishen said, "Let's go back."
Sang Xinqi, "Let's go."
Back at the old house, Sang Xinqi paid the bill for her aunt, and she left.
She looked at the clean house and breathed a sigh of relief unconsciously. The sunlight shone through the polished glass windows, casting warm spots of light on the floor, and even the air was filled with a faint lemon scent.
"It finally feels like home," she sighed softly, her fingertips gently stroking the polished tabletop.
Liao Yishen hugged her from behind and said, "Let it ventilate for two days. It will be perfect for us to stay when uncle and aunt come back."
She smiled and nodded, with tenderness in her eyes and eyebrows.
It was dusk when they left. They stopped by a fresh food supermarket near the community to buy some vegetables. Liao Yishen skillfully selected the ingredients, while Sang Xinqi compared which seasoning was better and came over to ask for his opinion from time to time.
"Here," Liao Yishen pointed to a brown bag of seasoning and said, "This is good. I use it often."
Sang Xinqi nodded, put down the other one, and put the bag Liao Yishen mentioned into the shopping cart.
After buying things, the two went back.
As soon as Liao Yishen returned home, he carried the vegetables and went straight to the kitchen. His slender fingers skillfully sorted and put the ingredients in order. Sang Xinqi walked briskly into the bedroom and changed into a set of soft cotton home clothes. The loose hem swayed gently with her steps.
When she came to the kitchen, Liao Yishen had already tied on an apron and was washing vegetables intently. The water was running, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing his well-defined forearms.
Sang Xinqi leaned against the door frame, watching his busy figure with gentle eyes, and couldn't help but sigh, "My boyfriend is so hardworking."
Liao Yishen turned his head upon hearing this, a gentle smile spread across his brows, and drops of water dripped from his fingertips.
Sang Xinqi didn't know what to do for a moment, so she stood quietly aside. After a moment, she played with her hair boredly. "I'm going to watch TV for a while. Call me when you're done."
"Okay, go ahead," Liao Yishen's voice was filled with doting, and the smile on his lips deepened as he watched her leave.
The rhythmic sound of chopping vegetables soon rang out in the kitchen, accompanied by the sizzling of the oil pan. Sang Xinqi curled up on the sofa, but the plot of the TV series was no more attractive than the sounds coming from the kitchen.
When she finished watching an episode, Liao Yishen had already come out with fragrant dishes. Seeing this, Sang Xinqi hurried over to help serve the dishes.
The two of them placed the food on the coffee table in the living room and ate while chatting.
The sky gradually darkened and the city lights came on.
It was only seven o'clock when they finished their meal and the night had just begun to fall over the city, so they decided to find an old movie to watch.
The soft sofa became the best viewing area, and Liao Yishen naturally reached out and held Sang Xinqi in his arms.
As the plot progressed, the story on the screen gradually lost its appeal, their eyes began to intertwine, their breathing became longer, and when they came to their senses, the ending song had already sounded, and they had unknowingly found themselves hugging each other on the bed in the bedroom.
"It's getting worse," Sang Xinqi buried her burning cheek in his shoulder, her voice so soft that it was almost inaudible.
Liao Yishen tightened his arms and held her closer, his deep voice filled with a satisfied smile, "Do you like it?"
Sang Xinqi raised her head, her eyes filled with tenderness, and nodded gently, "I like it."
"Then I'll keep trying next time," he said, his fingertips caressing the tips of her reddened ears, his voice filled with an alluring promise, "to satisfy you even more."
"Okay," Sang Xinqi buried her face in his chest, her tone filled with embarrassment and a hint of expectation.
-
The happy weekend passed in a flash, and it was busy Monday in the blink of an eye.
Sang Xinqi had just finished organizing the design draft at hand when her phone screen suddenly lit up. It was Xu Jianian, whom she hadn't contacted for a long time.
She swiped the answer button and heard a familiar, hearty laugh from the receiver. "Sangsang, it's been so long since we last contacted. Could it be that you've forgotten me?"
"How could that be?" Sang Xinqi gathered the design drafts aside, the corners of her lips unconsciously raised. "It's just that the studio recently took on a spring clothing project for a niche brand, and we've been super busy."
"I've got a chance to change your mind," Xu Jianian said excitedly. "The principals of No. 1 and No. 2 Middle Schools approached me about designing some spring and summer uniforms for the students. I remember you graduated from No. 2 Middle School. Would you like to work on this project together?"
Sang Xinqi tapped the table lightly with her fingertips.
Designing a uniform for her alma mater was indeed a rare opportunity. After hesitating for a moment, she said, "Okay."
"Great!" Xu Jianian said with a smile, "I'll sort out the information in the next two days and come to discuss it with you in detail. By the way, there's an art exhibition this Saturday, do you want to go and see it?"
Sang Xinqi paused.
The other party immediately said, "If it's inconvenient, then forget it."
Sang Xinqi said, "My parents came back recently. I haven't seen them for a long time."
Xu Jianian said, "Okay, then stay home and spend some time with them."
After hanging up the phone, Sang Xinqi was stunned for a moment and then continued to be busy.
-
At noon on Wednesday, Sang Xinqi finished her lunch, looked at the time, picked up her bag and went out.
The airport hall is always bustling with people, flight information is broadcast from time to time, and the wheels of suitcases make a slight sound as they slide across the ground. She stands at the arrival gate, searching the crowd for familiar figures.
Yesterday her parents called her and told her they would arrive at around 2:00 this afternoon and asked her to pick them up at the airport. So, they hadn't seen each other for half a year.
In the past six months, they seldom called her and did not allow her to call too often. The reason was simple: they did not want to be disturbed in their world of two.
Although they have not remarried yet, their relationship in recent years has been even sweeter than when they were young. Sang Xinqi sometimes feels that she is particularly redundant between them.
Just as I was thinking about it, a group of passengers rushed out of the exit.
She stood on tiptoe and looked around, and finally caught sight of the two familiar figures in the crowd.
Her father was pushing three suitcases, and her mother was carrying only a small bag. They were talking and laughing in low voices as they walked, their eyes full of ease and joy.
Her father said something, and her mother smiled and hit him lightly. He immediately pretended to be in pain, but couldn't help laughing.
Sang Xinqi watched this scene, the corners of her mouth raised unconsciously, until they approached, she raised her hand and waved, "Dad, Mom, here."
Mother Sang was sharp-eyed and saw her daughter from a distance. She immediately pulled Father Sang to speed up his pace. Father Sang staggered a little, but he just smiled and let her pull him along, his eyes full of indulgence.
The three of them soon met. Sang Xinqi saw her father pushing three large boxes and quickly reached out to take one. She couldn't help but mutter, "Are you not going back? You're bringing so many things with you."
"Yes, your mother resigned from her job," said Mr. Sang.
Sang Xinqi exclaimed, looking at her mother, "Why don't you do it anymore?"
Mother Sang said, "I don't want to do it anymore."
Sang Xinqi: “…”
Sang Xinqi pushed the suitcase and said as she walked, "Okay then. By the way, Mom, the house has just been cleaned up and is still being ventilated. You two can stay here with me for two days."
Mother Sang snorted softly, "You've been back for so long, and you didn't even bother to clean up the house without me telling you."
Sang Xinqi: “…”
But he couldn't help but say, "I didn't know you were planning to come back!"
"Whatever you say is right."
Sang Xinqi: “…”
After not seeing each other for half a year, Mother Sang said she disliked her daughter, but her eyes kept glancing at her daughter. As they walked, she suddenly frowned and said, "Have you gained weight recently? Your face has become rounder."
Sang Xinqi paused, nearly knocking the box over. "Mom!" she protested angrily. "Is that the first thing you say after six months of not seeing you?"
Seeing her mother's serious expression, she couldn't help but touch her face and asked in a low voice, "Is this true? Am I really fat?"
