48? Chapter 48

48 Chapter 48

◎Am I so shameful?◎

The three of them chatted and laughed all the way to the parking lot. Mr. Sang put the luggage in the trunk, and then got into the back seat with Mrs. Sang.

When Sang Xinqi got into the driver's seat, she couldn't help but look back and asked persistently, "Mom, am I really fat?"

Mother Sang: “…”

She really shouldn't have said that!

"No, no, Mom was just kidding," Mother Sang quickly tried to smooth things over, fearing that her daughter would continue to ask questions. But to be honest, her daughter was indeed a little rounder than before.

"You scared me! I was planning to lose weight," Sang Xinqi muttered as she started the car.

"Why do you want to lose weight? You look just right now. You look much better than before," Mother Sang quickly comforted.

Hearing this, Sang Xinqi immediately smiled.

On the way back, the family of three talked and laughed, and soon they arrived at Sang Xinqi's residence.

After parking the car, Sang Xinqi took her parents upstairs. After receiving a call from her parents yesterday saying they were coming over, she moved all the things related to Liao Yishen in the house to his residence overnight.

"This house is pretty nice," Mother Sang said with satisfaction as she looked around as she entered the house.

Sang Xinqi nodded. "It's quite good. It's very comfortable to live here."

"This was bought by Jiang Xun. He doesn't live in it now, so he rented it to me temporarily," Sang Xinqi explained.

Mother Sang said, "You are not a child anymore. If you like this community, why not buy a house here?"

Sang Xinqi currently has no plans to buy a house. If she moves away, wouldn’t she be far away from Liao Yishen?

"Wait a little longer," Sang Xinqi said vaguely.

Mother Sang pressed, "Waiting for what?"

Sang Xinqi: “…”

"I heard that housing prices will continue to fall, so there's no need to rush," Sang Xinqi made an excuse.

Mother Sang thought about it and said, "That's true."

After chatting for a while at home, the family of three went out to eat hot pot.

In the steaming hot pot restaurant, three people sat around a table, chatting and laughing while eating slices of meat. Mother Sang picked up a piece of beef and put it into her daughter's bowl, but noticed that she frequently lowered her head to look at her mobile phone with a faint smile on the corner of her mouth.

She knew her daughter well, and she knew there must be something wrong with her.

After dinner, Mother Sang suggested taking a walk nearby.

Sang Xinqi stuffed her phone back into her bag, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Okay, I won't accompany you. I'll go back first."

Mother Sang gave her daughter a meaningful look. Thinking of her silly smile on her phone during dinner, she asked directly, "Are you in love?"

Sang Xinqi was speechless for a moment. How could her mother guess so accurately? Her ears felt slightly hot and she smiled helplessly, "Mom, your daughter is already this old, isn't it normal to be in a relationship?"

Mother Sang was stunned for a moment. Her daughter had been single all these years, and she thought it was because she couldn't let go of the relationship she had in high school.

I didn’t expect that I would have a new relationship just half a year after coming back. It seems that I have really moved on.

"Okay, okay," Sang's mother waved her hand, "Hurry up and go on your date. Remember not to come back too late."

"I know," Sang Xinqi responded obediently, but when she turned around, a sly smile appeared on the corner of her mouth. Of course, she would not come back too late because her boyfriend lived across the street.

After Sang Xinqi separated from her parents, she quickly returned home.

Standing in front of her own door, she turned around and knocked on the familiar door opposite.

The door quickly opened a crack, and Liao Yishen leaned against the door frame with a gentle smile on his face, "Why didn't you spend more time with uncle and aunt?"

"My dad is with her," Sang Xinqi blinked and reached out to push the door, "Let me in first."

Liao Yishen chuckled softly and moved aside to let her in. As soon as the door closed, Sang Xinqi threw herself into his arms, buried her face in his chest and took a deep breath. "It's so strange. It's only been a short while since we last met, but it feels like several days have passed."

"Me too," Liao Yishen tightened his arms, the same longing in his voice.

Sang Xinqi raised her face, stood on tiptoe and lightly touched his lips. When she was about to step away, the back of her head was firmly supported by his palm. The kiss that was originally a light kiss gradually deepened. The two of them lingered at the entrance for a long time before separating.

"We can't stay together tonight," Sang Xinqi whispered, leaning on his shoulder.

Liao Yishen took her to the sofa and sat down. "It's okay, it's only for these two days."

"Yes, they will move back tomorrow. The house has been cleaned long ago and the new bedding has been hung out to dry," Sang Xinqi played with his fingers.

"Then when can I meet them?" Liao Yishen pulled her closer to him, "I don't want our relationship to be hidden forever."

Sang Xinqi smiled and said, "You want to see my parents so much?"

"Yes, I want to get their approval so that I can marry you into my family," Liao Yishen looked at her seriously.

Hearing this, Sang Xinqi's heart skipped a beat. She looked at him and said, "Then let's schedule it for next week. They must have a lot of things to pack after they just got back."

"Okay," Liao Yishen responded, but his eyes gradually became deeper.

After a moment's silence, he asked softly, "How about we get engaged this year?"

"This year?" Sang Xinqi's eyes widened in surprise. "But the New Year is coming soon, and we haven't prepared anything yet."

"Leave these to me," Liao Yishen held her face in his hands and gently stroked her cheek with his fingertips, "I will prepare everything you need for the engagement."

Sang Xinqi tilted her head to look at him, her eyes full of smiles, "Are you so anxious to get engaged to me?"

"I really do." Liao Yishen nodded, his voice suddenly lowered. "Once we're engaged, you'll be my fiancée and mine."

"Am I not yours now?"

Liao Yishen shook his head, a barely perceptible fragility flashing in his eyes, "It's different. Now I'm always afraid that you will leave me again."

These words made Sang Xinqi's heart tighten.

She reached out and caressed his face, her fingertips tracing his slightly furrowed brows. "No," her voice was as soft as a sigh. "This time, I won't let you go no matter what."

Liao Yishen nodded gently, rubbing his knuckles against her cheek. "I believe you, but I want the certificate as a guarantee."

Sang Xinqi chuckled, "There are people who get married and divorced."

As soon as the words came out of her mouth, he pinched her cheek.

"We won't," Liao Yishen's eyes darkened, his voice filled with unquestionable certainty, "Don't even think about leaving again in this life. If I hadn't been afraid of delaying you back then..." His Adam's apple rolled, "I would never agree to break up even if I die."

Sang Xinqi felt a pang of pain in her nose, lowered her eyes and whispered, "I'm sorry..."

Before she finished speaking, Liao Yishen suddenly covered her mouth and said, "Don't ever say sorry to me."

His palms were warm and had a faint scent of hand sanitizer.

Sang Xinqi blinked in confusion, "Why?"

Liao Yishen was silent for a moment, then shook his head. "No reason."

He loosened his grip and tucked her loose hair behind her ears, his movements as gentle as if he were handling a fragile treasure.

In fact, he knew in his heart that those three words made him very uncomfortable. He always felt that when he heard these three words, he felt like he was abandoned again.

Sang Xinqi stayed at Liao Yishen's house until ten o'clock in the evening.

Before leaving, she was like a vigilant kitten, sticking her whole body to the door panel, repeatedly checking the situation in the corridor through the peephole.

Liao Yishen leaned against the entrance, looking at her thief-like appearance, and couldn't help but snorted, "Am I so shameful?"

"No," Sang Xinqi turned around and glared at him, but she felt inexplicably guilty when she met his half-smile.

"If it's not," he sauntered closer, twirling his fingers around a strand of her hair, "why are you being so sneaky?"

Sang Xinqi herself couldn't explain why she was so cautious, so she just smiled foolishly at him and opened the door.

As luck would have it, the elevator opened with a ding at this moment.

Mr. Sang and Mrs. Sang walked out of the elevator. The three of them looked at each other and the air froze instantly.

"Sangsang?" Sang's mother rushed over, pointing her finger back and forth between her and the door opposite. "Why did you come out of someone else's house?"

Liao Yishen in the room crossed his arms, with a mischievous smile in his eyes, looking like he was enjoying a good show.

Sang Xinqi's scalp tingled, and she laughed dryly, "Um...my boyfriend lives here."

"You live next door to each other?" Mother Sang's voice suddenly rose.

"Hmm..." Sang Xinqi shrank her neck.

Mother Sang's eyes widened. "You live next door and you didn't tell us?"

"You didn't even ask him where he lives..." Sang Xinqi muttered softly, but was silenced by her mother's glare as soon as she finished speaking.

Mother Sang was speechless for a moment.

Father Sang put his hands behind his back and looked over his daughter's shoulder into the house, "Since we've met, why don't you let us see each other?" He wanted to see which boy could make his daughter hide him like this.

Sang Xinqi turned her head to look inside the house, and met Liao Yishen's suddenly nervous eyes. The man who was watching the show leisurely just now now even stood stiffly.

"My parents want to meet you," she whispered.

Liao Yi took a deep breath and nodded solemnly.

When the door was fully opened, the light from the corridor made his outline particularly clear. He bowed slightly, his voice a little lower than usual, "Hello, uncle and aunt."

Mother Sang suddenly gasped and unconsciously covered her mouth with her fingers, "Yi Shen?"

"It's me, auntie," Liao Yishen said with a decent smile on his face, but his eyes were filled with unconcealable uneasiness.

Mother Sang suddenly realized that it was not that her daughter had let go of the past, but that they were together again. She turned to look at her husband and found that the wariness on his face had long disappeared.

Father Sang looked at the young man in front of him with complicated eyes. His daughter had resolutely broken up with him back then, but now he didn't care about the past and was with his daughter again. He didn't know if it was true love or he had other purposes.

Don't blame him for thinking too much, after all, men understand men best.

"It's cold outside, let's talk inside," Father Sang finally said.

Then he reached out and patted Liao Yishen on the shoulder. This simple action immediately eased the tense atmosphere.

After entering the house, the four of them sat in the living room, and the air seemed to be frozen.

Finally, Mother Sang cleared her throat and said, "Yi Shen, are your uncle and mother in good health?"

Liao Yishen placed his hands on his knees politely, his back straight, "Not bad."

Mother Sang nodded.

She didn't know what to say for a moment. She glanced at Father Sang, who was drinking from a cup. She nudged him with her arm, and Father Sang put down the cup. "It's late today, come to our house for dinner another day."

Mother Sang: “…”

Sang Xinqi: “…”

The one who asked you to speak and the one who didn't asked you to leave looked at each other helplessly.

Liao Yishen breathed a sigh of relief when he heard this, "Okay uncle, I will definitely go."

After saying that, he stood up and said, "Uncle and aunt, Sangsang, I'll be leaving first. You should get some rest early."

Mother Sang nodded and said, "Okay, you should go to bed early too."
