Su Jin quickened her pace and returned home. Seeing an elderly couple sitting at the door, her face darkened.
"Who are you?" Su Jin glared at the two of them. "What are you doing sitting at my doorstep? Do you want to steal something while we're not home?"
"I'm looking for my daughter." Old Man Wang was frightened by Su Jin's tone and said timidly, "She is an educated youth here and lives here."
"I'm also an educated youth. How come I didn't know my parents were looking for me?" Su Jin sneered, "Can't you go to the educated youth camp to look for them? If you block them here, I'll call the police."
Su Jin climbed up the stairs, and Old Lady Wang stood in front of her.
"Let me go in and take a look. The villagers won't let us in. How can we find someone?" Old Mrs. Wang always thought that Su Jin was an educated youth and must know Wang Dahong.
"Why? My partner is a soldier, and I'm a military dependent. If you make trouble again, I'll call the police." Su Jin pointed to the road below the door. "This is my home, and I don't want you to come in. I'm pregnant. If you push me down, you'll end up behind the fence."
She wanted to go around Old Lady Wang to open the door, but Old Lady Wang pushed her hard. Su Jin reached out and grabbed the copper handle to steady herself.
"Su Zhiqing, you didn't fall, did you?" Several young wives were walking back with water. They looked at the old couple from the Wang family and immediately raised their eyebrows. "I told you, your daughter isn't in our brigade. If you can't find your daughter, you're just randomly asking around to find out whose family has the highest betrothal gift. How are you going to accompany your daughter who received the betrothal gift but couldn't get married?"
Several young wives had a good relationship with Wang Dahong. After hearing what Wang Dahong had experienced at home, they all offered to help. Even the village chief ordered that no one should plot against the educated youth.
Lin Laobao's family mentioned this privately to a friend they were close to, and the matter was reported to the village chief, who criticized him in a public meeting with Lu Shiyuan.
"Su Zhiqing, I'll go find the village chief right away." The young wife held the bucket and ran to the field to call for help.
"Village chief, village chief, the old couple are here again and almost pushed Su Zhiqing down." The young wife's sharp voice was heard by everyone in the nearby two acres of land.
Wang Dahong hurried to the edge of the field, but was pushed back by his young wife.
"Su Zhiqing is helping you block it, but if you show up, won't you ruin everyone's good intentions?" The young wife told Wang Dahong to go back to work quickly. "You stay in the village, no one will glare at you and force you to marry."
The young wives in the village were all tied together, and many of them chose to get married because they could not resist their families.
Wang Dahong is like their other side, and they all hope that she can escape her fate.
"I'll go check it out!" Lu Shiyuan led two cadres to Su Jin's house, hoping nothing happened to her. "Liu Zhiqing, come with me and take care of Xiao Jin."
Lu Shiyuan led the three of them and walked over quickly. Seeing Su Jin's pale face, Liu Ying immediately stepped forward to support her.
"Xiao Jin, are you okay?" Liu Ying pinched her twice and muttered softly, "These two have been causing trouble in the village since the day before yesterday, and were sent away by the village chief and the militia."
Su Jin didn't say anything, but reached out and patted Liu Ying: "My home will become someone else's."
"Who said that?" Lu Shiyuan stepped forward. "This is your and Xiaoyi's new home. As your uncle, I can't let you lose it."
Su Jin pursed her lips and smiled. Since Lu Shiyuan had come out to speak, she didn't want to interrupt him in public.
"Open the door and go get some rest first. The child is more important." Lu Shiyuan stood in front of Su Jin. Old Lady Wang was already walking down the stairs in fear. "What are you two going to do? I'm going to report this to the Pigeon Committee. These refugees who came from nowhere are seriously affecting the farming in the village."
The old couple of the Wang family lied to the brigade, saying that Wang Dahong had an acute illness. Although the brigade leader did not believe it, he still thought in his heart that parents would not joke about their daughter's life.
"We didn't do anything. We were just looking for our daughter." The two elders of the Wang family were scared. Lu Shiyuan looked at them and said, "Go to the brigade headquarters and call the pigeon committee. Ask them for letters of introduction for the two of them."
Accountant Wang immediately rushed to the brigade headquarters. Lu Shiyang worked in the city, so everyone selected another accountant from the village to take over the accounting duties.
During the busy spring plowing and autumn harvest seasons, Lu Shiyang would come back to help and received a 3 yuan allowance.
Su Jin walked into the house, pushed open the door of the main room, and found that the living room was very clean.
"Second sister, let's go to the back door. Eldest sister's sister is over there!" Su Jin and Wang Dahua said something, and Liu Ying widened her eyes.
"It's really fate. Let her go around from the back of the house to our house first?" Liu Ying thought that the old couple would not break in.
"No, take her to the mountain and come back in half an hour." Su Jin pushed Liu Ying to the back door. She stood between the two rooms, watched them go up the mountain, and then turned back to the door.
Su Jin walked to the door and saw the old couple still standing outside. She passed by the wing room and saw that Wang Dahong and the others had put away the quilts and pillows, and the wing room seemed as if no one lived there.
"Since they think our daughter is in the yard, let them come in and see." Su Jin opened the gate. "You can stay here for a while. The rooms on both sides are unoccupied and the doors are locked from the outside. You can see what's going on inside from the window."
Lu Shiyuan noticed that she was getting impatient, so he had to lead the person in.
The old couple of the Wang family thought they had compromised and looked at Su Jin proudly.
"It's not that I'm afraid of you, I just don't want to get entangled with you. I need to get back as soon as possible." Su Jin crossed her arms, "My house is inlaid with glass, you can see inside from the outside."
Su Jin glanced at her watch without even looking at them.
"Su Zhiqing, when will Shi Yi come back?" Accountant Wang rushed over from the brigade headquarters and asked Su Jin privately.
"Ayi has been busy lately and hasn't had time to come back." Su Jin spread her hands and said, "If you have anything, please call Ayi's office."
Accountant Wang nodded and said, "These two people cheated their way out of the brigade by getting a letter of introduction. They claimed their daughter was seriously ill and got it."
What?!
Su Jin was stunned and had even less good feelings towards them.
"You see, no one's home. It's not the busy season for spring plowing, so everyone's home." Lu Shiyuan said on Su Jin's behalf, "You'd better find someone else. If you come to the brigade and disrupt farming again, I'll report it to the Pigeon Committee."
"Captain, these two people cheated to get the letter of introduction. The other team asked us to send them to the Pigeon Committee today." Accountant Wang sneered. Both teams looked down on their actions.
The two team leaders and village cadres are fair and impartial, so when encountering similar situations, they will also help.
Old Man Wang immediately got angry: "We just want to find our daughter... We'll buy our own tickets and go back. Old woman, please go back quickly. I'll just tell her to send a telegram to her."
Old Man Wang saw that something was not right and shifted the blame to Old Lady Wang.
Lu Shiyi led the two to the village entrance and asked two accountants to send them to the Pigeon Committee to report.
