As June approached, the weather became increasingly hot. After Su Jin became pregnant, she actually felt very hot and stayed in the air-conditioned room in the space every day.
Lu Shiyi noticed that Su Jin was beginning to feel afraid of the heat, so he called his uncle and asked him to use foreign exchange coupons to buy an electric fan and a refrigerator from southern Guangdong Province. The uncle brought them all the way from southern Guangdong along with the distributed items, causing quite a stir in the family compound that day.
Su Jin turned on the hair dryer every day and she didn't even go to school. Yun Feng took the final exam papers from her and went to school.
After waking up from a nap, Su Jin took out the air-conditioning fan in the space, and the temperature of the whole room dropped instantly. She sat on the desk and began to knit a onesie for her child. She looked at the clothes in the space and found that most of them could not be taken out and used.
However, small floral quilts can be used, and most cotton-padded coats and down jackets have labels.
Today is the last day of exams for the students. After Lin Lei and Lin Yan finished their exams, they called their friends to run around in the staff quarters.
During the summer vacation, the team members will add secret sentries halfway up the mountain to prevent the children from getting into danger in the mountains.
Su Jin cooked sour plum soup in the kitchen and put it in the refrigerator.
Brothers Lin Lei and Lin Yan ran to the lighted court with basketballs in their arms. They had finished all their exams before 2 o'clock today, so they all gathered together to play.
The courtyard was in turmoil because of the Pei family's affairs. The children were confined at home, and the elders in the family even restricted them from talking nonsense in the courtyard.
At around 4 p.m., the two brothers were carrying basketballs on their way home. When they passed by Lu's house, Su Jin stopped them.
"Xiao Lei, Xiao Yan, come in quickly. You must come to my place to have lunch and do homework in the afternoons during the holidays." Su Jin looked at the two Lin brothers.
Lin Yan cheered and waved his hands: "Aunt Jin, we thought you didn't get up."
"Aunt Jin, mom told us brothers to eat in the cafeteria." Lin Lei looked at Su Jin's smiling face.
"Uncle Lu said that your mother will go to the hospital to take care of your father during the holidays. I will take care of your meals during the day, and you can sleep here with me at night." Su Jin said gently.
"Aunt Jin, we will go home to sleep at night. I'll leave it to you during the day." As the eldest son, Lin Lei treats people better than his younger brother.
Su Jin greeted the two of them: "You just finished playing basketball, go to the hall and enjoy the fan. I made sour plum soup."
When Lin Yan heard that he could use the fan, he cheered and ran to the hall.
"Aunt Jin, Xiaoyan..." Lin Lei wanted to help Lin Yan explain.
"You don't need to explain to me. I treat you as children." Su Jin chuckled, "You can help take care of the little brother when the time comes. Children have the right to be willful, but they can no longer be willful when they grow up."
Lin Lei had never heard this before. Lin Zitao and Yunfeng often said that he was the eldest brother and had the responsibility to take care of his younger brother when his parents were not around.
"You can be as willful as you want when you're at Aunt Jin's place." Su Jin tilted her head towards the living room. "Now go over to the fan. I'll go to the refrigerator and get popsicles for you two."
Lin Lei and Lin Yan walked back slowly, and the sweat on their bodies had dried off. Only then did Su Jin dare to give popsicles to the two children.
"This is my first time making popsicles. You guys try them." Su Jin came over with two popsicles, which were specially made with ice cream powder.
Lin Lei and Lin Yan looked at the specially made enamel popsicle box. They took the popsicles, put them in their mouths and said they were delicious.
"Aunt Jin, your popsicles are better than the ones I eat outside." Lin Lei praised.
Lin Yan echoed from the side: "Aunt Jin, let me tell you, the milk popsicles my brother bought for me are not as delicious as this."
"You two do your homework, I'll make dinner tonight. Uncle Lu should be back in the evening." Su Jin comforted the two children, "We have loaches at home, let's fry some loaches."
Lin Lei and Lin Yan looked at Su Jin expectantly: "Did Uncle Lu catch the loaches?"
"I caught a bucketful." Su Jin praised, "You're not allowed to fish near the stream. There have been several cases of children drowning there."
"Aunt Jin, we have fishing nets. We can just wait and collect them tomorrow." Lin Lei and Lin Yan assured them, "We're only going after our parents' consent. Don't worry."
Su Jin nodded and went straight to the kitchen to deal with the loach.
At six o'clock in the afternoon, Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao walked home side by side. Lu Shiyi looked at the smoke rising from the house and pulled Lin Zitao home.
"The two children must be at my house. You three can go back after dinner." Lu Shiyi reached out and patted his shoulder. "With the two children at home with her, I feel much more relaxed."
"Wouldn't it be too tiring for my sister-in-law to take care of two children in her current condition?" Lin Zitao Qichu wanted to send the children back to their hometown, worried that the people there would blame them again.
"Xiao Jin likes the two brothers and asked me to go catch some loaches yesterday." Lu Shiyi smiled bitterly. "I guess these loaches are for your two kids to eat."
Su Jin prepared the meal, asked the two children to serve the dishes first, and handed them a plate.
"You can have it as a snack when you get home tonight." Su Jin reminded the brothers, "You must finish it tonight."
Lin Lei and Lin Yan brought food from the kitchen, and Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao came in.
"Sister-in-law, thank you for your hard work in taking care of the two children." Lin Zitao said gratefully.
Lu Shiyi went into the kitchen to wash his hands, and then he brought the porridge into the dining room.
"My sister-in-law asked me for this before she returned to her parents' home to stay by their bedside." Su Jin placed the iced sour plum soup on the table. "My sister-in-law's mother is ill, and as a child, I should fulfill my filial duty."
"Oh, I may have to ask you to take care of them this summer." Lin Zitao drank the sour plum soup and felt cooler.
"Don't worry, Political Commissar, I'll take care of the two children." Su Jin made a promise.
