Chapter 185 Wang Da Returns

On the tenth day of the Lunar New Year, Wang Da came back from the border to complete a task. Old Mrs. Wang brought her daughter home crying and making a fuss, insisting that Wang Da find a job for her daughter on the farm.

Wang Xiaomei only attended the third grade of primary school and never went to school again. The work on the farm was basically given to family members, and all required a sixth-grade primary school level.

"Mom, what are you making a fuss about? I remember telling you and Xiaomei not to make a fuss at home before I left. Xiaojuan has been very good to you. Whose mother-in-law and sister-in-law are coming to accompany the army?"

Old Lady Wang glared at Wang Da angrily: "You are thinking wildly. Why did Xiaomei come here? You know how Xiaomei will survive if she goes back."

"Mom, only spouses and children are allowed to accompany the troops in the family compound now. No relatives are allowed to accompany the troops. Mom only said that you would bring Xiaomei to my place to celebrate the New Year, but you didn't say you wanted to stay here." Wang Da had just returned from a mission. Not only did Mrs. Wang not ask him if he was injured or hungry, she only wanted to make requests.

Mrs. Wang asked Daya to take care of Erya, and she hurried back to see Wang Da.

"Wife, you have suffered." Wang Da looked at Mrs. Wang coming back and walked up to her.

"Have you eaten? Are you hurt this time? Erya is in the clinic, come with me to see her." Mrs. Wang rented a room in the clinic. That room happened to be a small guest room, with not only a bathroom but also a bedroom.

After arriving at the clinic, Wang Da looked at Mrs. Wang with guilt. He received a call from his hometown and listened to Mrs. Wang crying. He felt soft-hearted and took the mother and daughter in. He never thought that during the more than ten days he was on a mission, Mrs. Wang and the children suffered such great harm.

Mrs. Wang shook her head: "Daya was watching Erya. Luckily, Teacher Su took action and Erya is fine. She still feels dizzy when she wakes up."

Wang Da hummed, "Wife, are you and the children going to spend the New Year here?"

The room was decorated very cozily by Mrs. Wang. There were red paper-cuts on the windows, and the smell of meat wafted from the small kitchen.

"Yes!" Mrs. Wang nodded in agreement. "Ever since Erya's accident, Teacher Su and Doctor Wang have rented this place to me for one dollar a month. Besides, the meat here was all divided up during the Chinese New Year hunt. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law didn't let me touch any of it, including the New Year's goods prepared by our family."

When Wang Da came back, his wife Wang told him all the grievances he had suffered at home. He regretted it but could not say more.

"Wife, I'm back now. Just take care of the children. I won't let mother bully you anymore. I'll send them back home when the snow melts." Wang Da didn't want his children to be bullied again. "I'll go to Doctor Wang to find out about Erya's condition."

After Wang Da left, Daya walked to Wang Saozi's side and looked at her mother sideways.

"Mom, will Dad really let grandma and aunt leave? Will she never leave unless aunt tells her to?" Ever since Wang Xiaomei came, Daya has been like a maid, serving tea and water to Wang Xiaomei every day. Even the evening footbath water is brought to Wang Xiaomei by Old Lady Wang.

"Yes!" Mrs. Wang has a bad temper towards Wang Da.

In the next room, Wang Da sat on a chair, looking at Wang Boya not far away, and listened carefully to what she said about Erya's situation.

"Doctor Wang, will Erya be like this in the future? Dizzy every day?" Wang Da was worried about his daughter's health. "Is it caused by trauma?"

"This was taken when Erya was first admitted to the hospital," Wang Boya took Erya's film and began to explain Erya's condition in detail.

Erya's back of the head must have been bumped, slapped, or hit, which caused the blood clot to form.

"Although Teacher Su has stopped the bleeding with acupuncture, the blood clot has not disappeared. Erya is too young, and she hasn't had a full meal in at least two months. We are all worried that Erya can't hold on." Wang Boya stared at Wang Da.

Wang Da clenched his fists to suppress the anger in his heart.

"Doctor Wang, are there any sequelae to Erya's condition?" Wang Da hopes that his daughter can grow up safely. Erya has left sequelae because of this incident.

Wang Boya pointed to the brain stem and said, "Erya is awake now, but she's still unable to walk. We can only determine the sequelae after she recovers."

Wang Da has been walking on the edge of danger for many years and knows too well the importance of the back of the brain to people.

"Is there anything we need to pay attention to?" Wang Da listened to Wang Boya's words, thinking about making Erya recover as soon as possible.

"Eat more nutritious food. If possible, let Erya have an egg a day." Wang Boya thought about the difficulties faced by every family now, and the fact that they had encountered invaders before the New Year. "If possible, let her eat it for at least three months."

The family doesn’t prepare much New Year’s goods, and who can guarantee that a child will have an egg every day?

"Okay!" Wang Da agreed immediately. "The cafeteria should sell eggs, and they don't even need a ticket."

The canteen buys eggs for the convenience of family members. Every household raises chickens. Wang Da's family also has two hens, which were taken care of by Mrs. Wang in the past. Since the old lady Wang and her daughter came, the eggs have not been saved anymore and were all eaten by Wang Xiaomei.

Daya and Erya used to be able to eat half an egg every two days, but when Wang Xiaomei came, they were scolded by Old Lady Wang.

"Also, spend more time with Erya when you have time. Your old lady must have said a lot of unpleasant things, and Daya has a low self-esteem. You received psychological counseling after the mission period, so you should understand the severity of the situation." Wang Boya reminded Wang Da.

Wang Da immediately promised to pay attention to his two daughters. After asking Wang Boya about Erya's condition, he got up and returned to the ward.

At this time, Erya had woken up. Seeing Wang Da coming back, a cautious smile appeared on her little face.

"Erya, Dad is back. No one can bully you anymore." Wang Da carefully picked up his daughter.

"Dad, don't you think Erya is a girl?" Erya didn't understand why the family had changed since Old Lady Wang came. "My sister and Erya can eat half an egg every two days, and my aunt eats two eggs every day. My sister and I wanted to eat, but Grandma hit us on the back of the head."

Wang Da looked at Daya and said, "Daya, were you hit on the back of the head too?"

"Well, I'm not dizzy. Erya started feeling dizzy the next day. We didn't say anything because we saw how much Grandma ordered our mother to do." Daya felt even more sorry for Mrs. Wang, who was busy at home, cooking three meals a day and taking care of Wang Xiaomei. "Auntie even asked Erya to bring foot washing water. Erya felt dizzy and threw the basin and water away. Grandma even beat her."

When Wang Da heard his daughter talk about what she had experienced during this period, he felt a little uncomfortable.

"After the Spring Festival, we will send grandma and aunt away and then go home to cook." Wang Da planned to let his family of four live in this one-bedroom house.

When the news spread that Old Lady Wang and her daughter had forced Wang Da's family of four to rent a clinic during meal time, many people pointed fingers at Old Lady Wang and her daughter.
