Chapter 203: Seeking a Visit

After the spring plowing was completed, schools started and the children in the mountains also had to go to school. The team members immediately divided the work and there were team members to pick up and drop off the children in the morning and evening.

The family members can work on the farm with peace of mind, and Su Jin carries Hanhan to the outpatient clinic to help.

"Xiao Jin, I see that the family members are distracted while working. It would be better to let them go back to the family compound to look after the children." Liu Yunshan observed for a few days and found that the family members' efficiency had slowed down a lot.

"Aunt, tell Captain Wu that a lot of children have gone missing down the mountain recently, most of them are between 8 and 12 years old." Su Jin heard Lu Shiyi mention that several children from the Fourth Brigade went into the mountains to dig wild vegetables, but never came back.

"Yunfeng has been watching over the Lin brothers at home lately, worried that they might run out to play and get taken away." Liu Yunshan said helplessly, "Xiaojin, come with me to the county staff quarters tomorrow."

Liu Yunshan handed the family compound over to Shi Zhengwei's wife. She was of the same age as Liu Yunshan and they used to be partners in handling things together. Later, Yunfeng came and Shi Zhengwei's young wife retreated to the second line.

Wu Jun, Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao went into the mountains to train the team, and only then did Political Commissar Shi and his wife come out again.

"Something happened in the family compound?" Su Jin looked at Liu Yunshan's worried expression, fearing that something might have gone wrong.

"Seven children are missing. They didn't come home from school last night, and several parents have reported this to Old Wu." Liu Yunshan hurriedly informed Su Jin, "Lin Yan and Lin Lei are classmates with the seven missing children. I'm worried they've been scammed. It's safer for Yunfeng to stay home and watch over them."

Hanhan lay obediently in the stroller. Liu Yunshan looked at the stroller with embarrassment.

"I'll take Hanhan with me. Now that the weather is getting warmer, we can go early and come back early." Su Jin also wanted to help. Lu Shiyi arranged for some team members to go down the mountain to help. "I'll also go to the county town to mail letters."

After listening to Su Jin's explanation, Liu Yunshan relaxed. The two agreed on a time to leave early the next morning, and Su Jin pushed her son to the clinic.

The next morning, Su Jin pushed the stroller with a mother's bag containing all of Hanhan's supplies underneath, and went down the mountain with Liu Yunshan.

When they reached the foot of the mountain, Liu Yunshan found that several groups of villagers were anxiously walking towards the county town. Su Jin looked at their tired expressions and knew that these people were the parents of the lost children.

They paid no attention to the people on the roadside, absorbed in their own thoughts.

The family in the village who lost their son called the police directly, just wanting to find their son back.

They didn't have many sons who could go to junior high school, and these lost children were considered the most promising in the family.

"Xiao Jin, those are villagers who lost their sons. It's not easy for a family to support their children to go to junior high school." Liu Yunshan looked at the people who were leaving and whispered in Su Jin's ear.

The two continued on their journey. After entering the county town, Su Jin and Liu Yunshan rushed back to the family compound. Shi Zhengwei's wife Zeng Hong was standing at the door waiting for them to come.

"Sister-in-law Yunshan, Xiaojin, you are finally here." Zeng Hong told her sons to be careful on their way to and from school, and then let them go to class.

The junior high school is not peaceful now, so Zeng Hong called the children back after a few days of classes.

Yunfeng called Zeng Hong a few days ago and asked Zeng Hong to look after her three sons to prevent them from getting involved in the junior high school affairs. Yunfeng had resigned, but she still had a lot of connections in the teaching team. If there was any sign of trouble, someone would remind Yunfeng.

"Sister-in-law, are the children at home?" Su Jin was curious about Zeng Hong standing outside alone.

"The children don't have to go to school the day after tomorrow. Lao Shi handled the leave procedures for the children yesterday. Following Yunfeng's advice, we also decided to stop the children from studying in school." Zeng Hong invited the two into her home and told them directly about the situation in the county.

The middle and high schools were in chaos, and many teachers were taken away by the pigeon committee.

Su Jin entered the house and opened the curtain on Hanhan's stroller while listening to Zeng Hong talking about the situation at school.

"Is this Hanhan?" Zeng Hong looked at Su Jin and asked, "I heard from Lao Shi that Hanhan's temper is very similar to Lao Lu's."

"Yes, his temper is more like Ayi, extremely stubborn." Su Jin said helplessly.

"Which soldier doesn't have a stubborn temper? Wu Bu and Lao Shi are both extremely stubborn, and so are my three kids." After Zeng Hong poured water for the two of them, she took out some snacks.

"Zeng Hong, is there any child missing in the family compound?" Liu Yunshan asked Zeng Hong.

"Yes!" Zeng Hong nodded. "Old Shi said the three children are missing. I wonder what their current situation is."

Zeng Hong talked about the situation in the family compound, including how many children had gone missing and what their families had done.

"Is there any follow-up after calling the police?" Su Jin asked directly after listening to Zeng Hong.

"No," Zeng Hong shook her head, "They said there's no news of a child."

While the three were talking, the door of the Shi family was knocked. Hanhan was startled by the sudden knock on the door and started crying.

Su Jin picked up Hanhan and walked towards the window. Seeing the little guy's face turned pale with fright, she frowned slightly.

"Sister-in-law, go to the next room to feed the baby first," Zeng Hong thought the child was hungry. "That room is the guest room. Coax Hanhan to sleep before coming out."

Zeng Hong looked at Hanhan's little face and felt very distressed, and was very dissatisfied with the person outside the door.

"Thank you, sister-in-law!" Su Jin held Hanhan in her left hand and pushed the stroller to the guest room with her right hand.

Liu Yunshan and Zeng Hong looked at each other, but the person outside the door did not give up knocking.

"Xiao Jin and I were targeted as soon as we returned. I guess they wanted to get information from us." Liu Yunshan sneered. "When Old Wu learned about the missing child, he immediately asked Political Commissar Shi to notify everyone. They didn't take it seriously."

"That's right!" Zeng Hong nodded. "Old Shi used a loud speaker to broadcast for three consecutive days, but those people didn't take it seriously."

Su Jin coaxed Hanhan in the guest room, took out a bottle from the space to feed him, and took out a small toy to entertain him.

The atmosphere outside the house was not good. After Zeng Hong opened the door, four sisters-in-law who had lost their children rushed in.

"Aunt Wu, please help us find our child." Several sisters-in-law knelt on the ground and begged with haggard looks.

"Wait!" Liu Yunshan dodged to the side and helped the sisters-in-law up together with Zeng Hong. "What time is it now? Are you trying to make me make a mistake?"

"No..." Several people immediately waved their hands, not knowing what to do for a moment.

"Everyone, stand up and sit down. Old Wu will notify Old Shi in advance and have the family members keep an eye on the children," Liu Yunshan said, staring at the family members. "How are you keeping an eye on the children?"

The family members cried and didn't dare to say a word.

"Aunt Wu, we know we were wrong. We just hope that our son can be found." The family members thought that the child in the military district would be fine, so they started crying.
