Chapter 219 The Ma Family Blocks the Door

Du Ruo noticed that some of the young wives looked strange in their eyes, so she asked the staff to pack the watches and immediately took her and Aunt Yang home.

The young wives were also concerned about the presence of their mother-in-law and could not go up to speak. They just wanted to wait a few days to go to Su Jin privately.

Du Ruo only breathed a sigh of relief after the three of them walked out of the supply and marketing cooperative's hungry area. The eyes of those young wives were too fiery.

"Aunt Yang, why are you here today?" Du Ruo was surprised that Aunt Yang came to the supply and marketing cooperative.

Aunt Yang was carrying a bamboo basket, and Su Jin was carrying one as well. The two of them supported Du Ruo on the left and right.

"Aunt, the chief asked me to come here quickly, saying that it's rare for the supply and marketing cooperative to come with supplies, so it's best to prepare all the supplies for this month." Aunt Yang told Du Ruo that she was somewhat worried that Lu Bairen was not with her.

"Stinky old man, I'm taking my granddaughter-in-law out, how could I be in danger?" Du Ruo said angrily, "Sister Yang, you two will come over later. Besides buying supplies for the family, you should also see if you and your wife have anything they need."

"Old Yang went to the grain station to queue up early, and his sister-in-law gave him too many tickets..." Sister Yang always got the leader's tickets. At the beginning, the leader asked her to buy the things and take them home, and then give them to the two of them.

"Lao Yang needs milk powder. Ayi has prepared it for Hanhan. When you come back, give Lao Yang a cup every day." Du Ruo walked with the two of them and chatted with them.

"No," Aunt Yang said immediately, "Even if the chief and you don't drink the milk powder prepared for you, you should prepare some for Hanhan."

"Aunt Yang, just do as grandma says. Grandma is also thinking about you." Su Jin helped Du Ruo persuade Aunt Yang.

Aunt Yang couldn't argue with the other two, so she just wanted to go back and discuss it with Old Yang before making a decision.

Su Jin saw Aunt Yang hesitant to speak, and her eyes swept across the basket where a leg of lamb was standing upright. She immediately decided to change the subject.

"Grandma, let's eat roasted lamb legs. I've roasted them three times in Songjiang Commune. Ayi always says that when we return to Beijing, we must roast them once for grandpa and grandma." Su Jin changed the subject directly.

"Your grandfather likes it very much. He is a carnivore like Ayi and cannot live without meat for a day," Du Ruo followed Su Jin's words. Aunt Yang was worth bringing up this topic.

Su Jin chuckled and said, "Of course, Aunt Yang, I'll leave lunch to you. It takes a long time to marinate the lamb leg."

"No problem!" Aunt Yang agreed readily.

"You and Uncle Yang will have roasted lamb legs together tonight. Don't hide in the house." After Su Jin came back, she found that Uncle Yang and Aunt Yang would not have dinner with everyone.

"Okay!" Aunt Yang had no choice but to nod and agree under Su Jin's expectant eyes.

After Su Jin got the answer, her eyes sparkled and she was thinking about what else to cook besides roasted lamb legs.

The three of them walked home together. Lu Shiyi slowed down his pace and followed Lu Bairen. The grandfather and grandson had already strolled around for several laps. It was a rare occasion for Lu Bairen to go to the senior activity room.

Many old men heard that Lu Shiyi had returned and brought their grandchildren with them. They all wanted their grandchildren to show up in front of Lu Shiyi.

Near the small garden, the two sides met each other. Lu Shiyi took the basket from Su Jin's hand, and the old man happily talked about the situation in the senior activity room.

After Lu Shiyi came back, he was either in his new home or in the old house. The young couple had good abilities, and many people wanted to use the relationships with the older generation to get close to them.

"Ayi, I want to roast a leg of lamb!" Su Jin said coquettishly, "Take Aunt Yang's basket. Give this to me. Let Uncle Yang and Aunt Yang go to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy what they need first."

"No need. Uncle Yang will push his bicycle over there, and I will accompany him to move the grain." Lu Shiyi explained in a low voice, "The senior activity room is rarely empty, so everyone is leading the staff to the supply and marketing cooperative."

When the Lu family was returning home, they were blocked by the younger generations of the Ma family near their doorstep.

All three of Ma's sons looked exhausted. Ma moved into a farm in Songjiang Commune for recuperation and even gave up the house in the compound. Even when his condition improved, the old man returned to the capital and lived in a sanatorium in Xiangshan.

"Mr. Lu, I want to know where my dad is?" Ma Kui looked at Mr. Lu and said anxiously, "My dad hasn't contacted our family since he left. We're very worried."

Lu Bairen glanced at the younger generation of the Ma family and shook his head: "Old Ma has not contacted us since he left."

The Ma Kui brothers frowned and asked several old men who had a good relationship with Mr. Ma, but none of them had received a call from Mr. Ma.

"Ma Kui, you're the eldest son. You should investigate your father's whereabouts, not ask us," Lu Bairen reminded Ma Kui. "We old men are at home all year round. Although we often play chess and cards with your father, he hasn't played with us for a long time since you two came to live with the Xin family."

Lu Shiyi stepped forward and blocked the Ma family's inquiries.

"You should go find the old man right away. We still need to get home." Lu Shiyi refused. "Also, I heard from the logistics staff that your house is going to be repossessed. Shouldn't you rent a place or move to the East or West District?"

Uncle Yang and Aunt Yang were responsible for taking the two elders home, and they took away all the bamboo baskets before leaving.

"Ayi, we have to go home quickly. Grandpa and grandma are waiting for us to eat." Su Jin walked out from behind him. The younger generation of the Ma family looked at her exquisite appearance, and a trace of surprise flashed across their faces.

Lu Shiyi noticed their gazes and immediately put Su Jin behind him, staring at them with cold eyes.

"With your current military rank, you should have a house in the East District or the West District. If you make trouble, how will the higher-ups deal with it?" Lu Shiyi reminded the Ma family not to make trouble anymore.
