In the middle of the night, an emergency assembly call broke the silence of the compound. When Lu Shiyi heard the call, he immediately got up from the bed and put on his training uniform as quickly as possible.
"Wife, wife!" Lu Shiyi called Su Jin in a low voice. Finding that she was not awake, he leaned over and kissed her, pinching her nose with his right hand to prevent her from breathing.
Su Jin woke up and looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"Something may have happened in the yard. I'll go to the emergency assembly right away. I'll go out and lock the door for you. If I don't come back in the morning, you can take Hanhan and live in the old house." When Lu Shiyi heard the horn sound again, he gave Su Jin some instructions and strode away.
Su Jin looked at the closed door and fell asleep again out of drowsiness.
When she woke up again, it was already 10 o'clock in the morning. She took out her watch from under her pillow and looked at it, then took Hanhan out of the space.
As she coaxed her son, Lu Shiyi's instructions came to her mind.
After the mother and son changed their clothes, Su Jin held Hanhan in her right hand and walked around the house, only to find that Lu Shiyi had not returned home at all.
She used the space to look outside the compound. It should have been a bustling place, but it was deserted.
Su Jin immediately realized that something was wrong and picked up the phone to call the old house.
"Grandma, is there something wrong over there?" Su Jin asked anxiously, "Ayi left in the middle of the night, saying something happened."
When Du Ruo heard Su Jin calling, the first thing she asked was if anything was wrong with the old couple, and her heart instantly warmed.
"Your grandfather was taken away this morning. Something must have happened. Do you want to come and live in the old house?" Du Ruo was worried that Su Jin was getting used to living alone. There were too many things to pay attention to when living with the elderly.
"Grandma, let Aunt Yang take good care of you. I'll go back to the old house when the situation outside gets better." Su Jin told Du Ruo her thoughts, "I'll take this opportunity to make some cookies for Grandpa and bring them back to him when we get back to the old house."
"Child, be sure to lock the door when you are at home, and call grandma every day to let her know you are safe." Du Ruo knew the situation was not good when she heard the horn. "Call me if you need anything, and I'll ask your uncle Yang to buy it and send it to you."
"Ayi bought a lot of things that day. It's enough for the two of us, mother and son. Grandma, you must be careful." Su Jin was always uneasy and wanted to renovate the yard.
Lu Shiyi deliberately planted a lot of thorny vines on the inside of the courtyard wall to protect the safety of the home. Su Jin put Hanhan in the crib to sleep. She took some animal traps from the space and hid them on the inside of the wall.
The vines block the view of these traps, so if someone breaks in with malicious intent, these traps will break their ankles.
These traps were all made by Lu Shiyi in the blacksmith shop of Songjiang Commune. They were all new and very lethal.
She installed animal traps and a surveillance camera behind the door lock. As long as a stranger broke in, the surveillance camera would sound an alarm in the space.
After cleaning up the yard, Su Jin went into the small kitchen to make breakfast for herself. She cooked a bowl of shepherd's purse and meat wontons, and heated up two roujiamo in the air fryer in the space.
After breakfast, Su Jin observed the situation in the compound in the space again. The compound was much quieter than usual, and there were team members from the duty room patrolling everywhere.
Su Jin noticed something was wrong, so he took out the herbs in the space and started preparing hemostatic medicine.
Every time Lu Shiyi went on a mission, he would take a lot of hemostatic powder. He always said that the hemostatic medicine in the hospital was not as effective as the one she made.
At this time, Lu Shiyi was sitting in the operations room for a meeting. He saw the five old men sitting in the main seats and realized that today was going to be troublesome.
"This is an emergency meeting because of changes along the border. We're calling everyone here to discuss what to do." The commander, seated in the middle, called the attention of the generals before him. "Wang Heng will lead the troops on the border to the southwest immediately."
"Yes!" Wang Heng stood up and saluted. There were always provocations in the southwest.
"Lu Shiyi!" the chief called out immediately, "Your grandfather said he'll go back to Songjiang Commune with you at the end of the month?"
"Yes!" Lu Shiyi stood up and replied loudly, "Grandpa likes Hanhan very much and hopes to spend more time with Hanhan."
"Okay, Old Lu, I leave the Northwest to you. Ning Lun will go to Songjiang Commune with Shi Yi." The chief even arranged a retreat for Lu Shiyi. "Also, the information in Su Jin's hands is too important. You must protect her 24 hours a day. Don't let anything happen to Xiao Jin or the information."
"yes!"
After receiving Lu Shiyi's assurance, the chief was completely relieved and began to consider whether to start a war.
Those scum in the northwest were transferred and began to reach out to the inland. Some people even lost their bottom line for money.
After the meeting, the leader kept Lu Bairen and Lu Shiyi, the grandfather and grandson, and when there was no one in the meeting room, he asked the guard to leave as well.
"Shi Yi, how are Mr. Song and the others?" the chief asked with concern.
"The leaders are all very nice. Mr. Song is leading everyone in the spring plowing on the farm. Mr. Song is indispensable to the farm work." Lu Shiyi told the leaders.
"I'm relieved now. You must leave the capital before the 29th. I'll start feigning illness on the 1st of next month." The chief didn't want to tell anyone, but he was also worried that Song Lao and the others would hear the news and be tempted by Lu Shiyi to return to the capital. "Those people have been forced into a corner and will probably start a counterattack."
"Do you want to come with us? I know you have a substitute." Lu Bairen looked at his old comrade-in-arms. Although their identities were different now, Lu Bairen still felt that the current situation was pretty good.
"No, I still need to take care of some things. There are some things I must verify myself." The chief sighed, "You guys go back now, and have Ayi take the second team of the Divine Sword back with you. Teams one and two will be on duty at the farm, and they must protect Su Jin."
