Chapter 314 Preparing New Year's Goods

On the farm, the team members took advantage of the training to hunt. If there were a lot of prey, their families could go to the canteen to exchange the prey. However, the situation was a bit bad this year, and most of the prey in the canteen was sent back to the city.

The families could no longer exchange prey from the canteen, so they had to ask the team members to go into the mountains or dig traps around the farm.

Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao heard them talk about Yang Saozi when they returned. They knew that starting from the 13th day of the twelfth lunar month, the team members could go into the mountains and hunt prey, and the married team members could send them back home as New Year gifts.

After the order was issued, several married team members changed their patrol time. Lu Shiyi didn't take it to heart. The team members worked hard outside just to give their families a stable life.

Lu Shiyi led Zong Li on patrol and hunted a roe deer. He simply processed it in the wild and let Zong Li carry it back.

"Wife, come out quickly!" Lu Shiyi walked in front with three pheasants in each hand, and Zong Li followed closely behind with a roe deer.

When the family members saw the prey the two had hunted, they all looked forward to their husbands' achievements.

The team members' marksmanship could not compare with Lu Shiyi's, and the amount of prey each of them brought back was not as much as Lu Shiyi's.

Lu Shiyi led Zong Li to clean the roe deer in the yard, and specially asked Wang Yuan to go to the cafeteria to buy a piece of wild boar meat.

Wang Yuan and Zong Li stayed at home for dinner during the New Year. They pooled some money for New Year gifts with the staff around the three elderly people. Wang Yuan took the money and took the opportunity to buy some meat.

Su Jin was processing the small yellow croaker in the kitchen. She took it out from the space, and Lu Shiyi drove around the county and told others that it was sent by Lu Shiyi's comrades.

Aunt Yang was sitting on a bench washing small yellow croaker and hairtail. Su Jin was looking at the soybean oil in the cupboard and the pork beside it, wondering which one would be better for frying the fish.

Su Jin finally took out the soybean oil and prepared to start frying the fish.

"Xiao Jin, have you washed all the fish?" Aunt Yang looked at the two basins of sea fish in front of her, with helplessness on her face.

After breakfast, Su Jin led her to prepare three pots of small yellow croaker. There was a wall heater in the kitchen, and she felt warm all over, not as cold as other people's kitchens.

"Wash them all, Auntie. We'll be busy these days. We'll need you to make flower buns later!" Su Jin began to process the small yellow croaker. "After frying these, send another batch to the cafeteria as a side dish for everyone."

Su Jin only left a porcelain bowl of fried small yellow croaker. It would be bad for the health of the elderly if they ate too much fried small yellow croaker.

Aunt Yang knew that Su Jin always prepared extra food, so she helped Su Jin. Apart from the three meals today, the two of them spent the rest of their time frying fish.

Lu Shiyi, wearing his training uniform, dealt with the silly roe deer, while Uncle Yang helped to boil water in pots.

The yard became lively, and Zong Li was processing a pheasant. He plucked the brightest feathers from the pheasant's tail and prepared to make a shuttlecock for Hanhan.

The elder and Lu Bairen stood in front of the window, looking outside through the glass. They used to be busier during the holidays, but this year they rarely had a chance to rest.

"Can your son come over?" The elder remembered that Lu's father was still working in the imperial capital, and wondered whether the couple would come here.

"No, I'm not in the capital anymore. There are a lot of people watching him over there," Lu Bairen shook his head. His father had originally wanted to come over to rest during the New Year holiday, but Lu Bairen flatly refused. "Besides, I don't want to go back in the spring. Now that that brat is here, I have to go back."

Lu Bairen always finds excuses to refuse to return to Beijing, which makes things difficult for the elders.

"Don't worry, we've discussed it. Mr. Hua will go directly back to Beijing from southern Guangdong, and I'll stay here. These old guys on the farm will be the foundation of the future turnaround. I can't let them suffer even the slightest bit of damage." The elder looked at Lu Shiyi outside, his eyes gleaming with hope. "Ayi has done well enough. You old man, please stop talking about him."

Lu Bairen raised his eyebrows proudly. "How could I not know my grandson's temperament? Xiao Jin's medical skills are becoming more and more sophisticated. Look at the old guys on the farm, which one of them is in poor health? When we return to the imperial capital, who wouldn't have some thoughts when they see Xiao Jin's medical skills?"

The elders listened to Lu Bairen's words and understood his concerns. The Lu family could protect Su Jin, but Lu Bairen and Lu's father would be gone one day. If Lu Shiyi no longer had this ability, Su Jin would definitely be snatched away.

"Ayi was able to protect Xiaojin. The young couple worked well together. There will be more people walking around them in the future." The elder looked at Lu Bairen and said, "Just stop causing trouble."

Lu Bairen chuckled and said, "As the eldest grandson of the Lu family, Hanhan has been involved in this circle since he was three years old."

"Let's go to the Blue Sky Kindergarten. Many children go to kindergarten there. In the compound, the bond between childhood friends will be the strongest." The elders knew that the bond between childhood friends was the purest. Although they played together because of their similar family backgrounds.

When they enter junior high school, they will grow up and become heirs of the family. They will understand more things. At that time, their feelings will also change. There will be different factions between families, and the groups of childhood friends will gradually separate.

Unless there is a life-or-death issue between childhood friends, they will not contact each other.

"Well, it would be better to let Hanhan have more contact with people of his age. We old guys can't do much to help." Lu Bairen looked at Hanhan who was walking back and forth not far away, with a smile on his face that kept growing.

"Celebrating the New Year with you this year will give me a taste of the joyful family life." Lu Bairen had invited the elder several times, but was rejected by him every time.

The elder decided to live close to the Lu family after retirement, and slowly lived with the Lu family so that he would have someone to talk to when he was old.
