Chapter 33 Braised Pork Offal (2/2)



Xu Wanning had no choice but to ask Li Meiyun to help light the fire.

Xu Wanning first put the pig offal into a pot with ginger slices and cold water, brought the water to a boil and blanched it, then took it out and rinsed it several times with clean water for later use.

Then chop the scallion and ginger and prepare them. Heat the iron pan, add some lard, then add some rock sugar and stir-fry until it melts and the color becomes darker. Add the scallion, ginger, garlic, chili and various spices and stir-fry until fragrant.

Finally, pour a large pot of water, put the blanched pig offal in, add a few pinches of salt, cover the pot and simmer for about an hour.

About an hour later, the aroma of meat came from the kitchen. Xu Wanning opened the lid of the pot, turned the pig offal back and forth, and then covered the pot again and simmered it until it was fragrant.

After about another hour, the braised pork offal in the pot was finally cooked. Xu Wanning took out a piece of braised pork intestine, cut it into pieces and put it in a large bowl.

I plan to serve it to Li Meiyun to taste. As for the braised pork offal in the pot, it still needs to be soaked in the soup for a while to make it more flavorful.

Xu Wanning came to the yard with a bowl of pig intestines, and Li Meiyun was just plowing the vegetable garden.

"Auntie, I've served some braised pig intestines. Come and have a taste."

Li Meiyun felt a little embarrassed. In fact, she had been drooling at the aroma outside for a long time, but she always felt in her heart that she was too old to be so greedy.

"Ningning, eat it yourself."

She almost swallowed her tongue because of the fragrance. She didn't care about being embarrassed anymore and picked up the chopsticks to eat one bite after another.

“This smells so good!”

"Ningning, how did you make it?"

"This stuff tastes better than pork!"

Xu Wanning felt sad as she looked at Li Meiyun's expression as she enjoyed the food more and more. People in the 1960s and 1970s had such a hard life.

In later generations, people began to waste food, buying a lot at a time and throwing away what they couldn't finish, including herself.

"Auntie, as long as you clean this thing and add some seasoning when cooking it, it won't smell bad."

"This thing is both nutritious and cheap, so I can make it often."

"Is it stewed?"

"Why do I smell like meat?"

Li Meiyun glared at him and said teasingly:

"Niu, do you have a dog nose?"

"Chengjun, our Ningning really showed off her skills today. She made a big pot of braised pork offal. It smelled delicious."

"You guys are in for a treat today."
