Chapter 77 Department Store (2/2)

"Sister, please get me ten bottles of Moutai."

The salesperson was a little surprised. Although she had seen such generous people before, this little girl didn't look that old. Why did she buy so much wine?

"Little girl, are you going to finish all the drinks you bought?"

"Your parents won't scold you for buying so much, right?"

Xu Wanning's mouth twitched when she heard this, thinking that this elder sister wouldn't think of her as a naughty child who bought things indiscriminately. At that time, the customs of the people were still relatively simple.

Unlike some salespeople in later generations who exaggerate the quality of things in order to sell them, but in reality the products break down after a short time.

She still remembers buying some batteries at a shopping mall. After using them for more than a month, they had a lot of problems.

"Sister, my family asked me to buy this wine. They're having a wedding soon, so they asked me to come out and help buy some good wine to entertain the guests."

After hearing what she said, the salesperson smiled and stood up to get ten bottles of Moutai for her.

"Yeah, weddings require some good wine. I won't hide it from you, most people who come to me to buy Moutai are probably buying it for weddings. Otherwise, who would be willing to buy this stuff?"

"It's expensive and impractical. I'd rather save the money and buy pork. A few pounds of pork is enough for a family to eat for several days."

Xu Wanning just smiled and said nothing. She took out sixty-five yuan from her schoolbag and handed it to the salesperson, then left the department store with a bunch of Moutai liquor.

She found a hidden alley halfway and put the seven bottles of Moutai into the space to store them away. She thought that these bottles of Moutai would be valuable in a few decades.

She felt very happy in her heart. Although she was not short of money, nor of valuable antiques, calligraphy and paintings, gold and silver jewelry, who would complain about having too much money?

Not far from the steel plant's family compound, she took out a chicken, a set of pig offal, a wild boar ribs, and two pork elbows that she had specially left behind.

As soon as I arrived at the door, Xu's mother came over to help carry things, muttering:

"Ningning, why did you buy so many things? They're so heavy! Next time, ask Mom to help you carry them!"

"Look at your hands, they're all red."

"Oh, why are you buying wine? This Moutai is quite expensive. Just keep the money your mom gave you for yourself. Don't buy wine for your dad. He's already 60 years old, why would he drink wine? It's a waste of money."

Xu Wanning knew that Xu's mother had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Otherwise, where did Xu's father get all those good wines? It was Xu's mother who tacitly allowed him to buy them.

"Mom, I'm not tired. I have a bicycle, how can it make me tired?"

"Besides, let Dad drink this wine occasionally. Just keep an eye on him and don't let him drink too much. It'll be fine."

"By the way, Mom, let's stew pork ribs tonight. I'll cook dinner, and you can just rest."

Mother Xu smiled gently. Ningning was such a filial child. She and her husband Xu would have a great meal in the future.

"Okay, Ningning wants to eat it, so we can stew the ribs tonight."

"Mom is not tired. I will help you at night."

Xu Wanning and her mother made two large plates of dumplings stuffed with pork and green onions for lunch, and then went to the kitchen to prepare the chicken, ribs, pig offal, and pork elbow that Xu Wanning had bought.

Xu's mother suggested inviting Xu's father's friends to their home for dinner in the evening. After Xu's father was dismissed from his job, many of his friends from the steel plant were concerned about their family's affairs.

Xu Wanning also liked it, so she planned to cook a few more delicious dishes in the evening to entertain the guests.
