Chapter 137 The Thief is Caught

With a click, the door opened.

A figure peeked in cautiously.

By the dim moonlight, he immediately spotted the large suitcase on the table, just like the one he had seen during his scouting trip earlier that day.

Seeing that the person on the bed was sleeping soundly and even snoring, he became excited and quietly waved to the door. Another figure then slipped in.

Besides the suitcase, there was also a handbag placed on Zhao Jingyu's bedside table.

The two exchanged a glance, each carrying a bag, and tiptoed out.

Just as he reached the door, Zhao Jingyu suddenly flipped off the bed and kicked one of the men hard. Caught off guard, the man cried out and fell to the ground.

The other person heard his companion's voice, but before he could turn around, someone grabbed him by the neck, and a cold voice came from above: "Tell me, who sent you?"

"No, no one sent us." His voice changed as someone grabbed his neck.

The man who had just been kicked to the ground quickly got up, pulled a gleaming dagger from his sleeve, and viciously stabbed at Zhao Jingyu: "You asked for this. We didn't intend to hurt you."

"You asked for this, I never intended to hurt you." Zhao Jingyu kicked the dagger out of his hand. "You two cowards waited for days before making your move!"

The three of them got into a fight inside the house.

After several rounds, the two men were beaten to the ground by Zhao Jingyu, groaning and crying out, "Damn it, this man is too ruthless!"

That kick of his could have killed half of me.

Zhao Jingyu calmly took out a rope from under the bed, tied one of the men to a chair, and stepped on the other man's chest with one foot: "With your pathetic skills, you dare to be thieves? You're a disgrace to our ancestors."

"Hero, spare our lives!" The man bowed repeatedly. "We were blind to your greatness. Please forgive us this time. We promise we will never set foot in this guesthouse again in our lives."

“Tell me, who instructed you?” Zhao Jingyu stomped harder on his foot and looked down at him. “You know, if I stomp you to death now, it would be considered self-defense.”

“We…we just…we just noticed you because you were dressed so well, no one instructed us to do this,” the man tied to the chair replied. “We thought you were a big boss.”

"Shut up, I wasn't asking you." Zhao Jingyu switched feet and continued to stomp on the person on the ground. "You tell me."

"He, he's my older brother, I work for him," the man lying on the ground said tremblingly. "I, I'm just a lookout. My older brother let me into the house to help me build up my courage."

Before Zhao Jingyu could say anything, Liu Caixia rushed in with her entourage, asking in a panic, "Jingyu, are you alright?"

She lives next door.

When she was awakened by the sounds of fighting, she was terrified and immediately ran downstairs to the guardhouse to call for help.

The gatekeeper was an old man. When he heard that there were two thieves, he worried that he couldn't handle them, so he called over a few strong young men.

The group rushed in, only to find that Zhao Jingyu had already subdued the two men. Zhao Jingyu then stepped forward and said, "Take them to the police station!"

The strong young men in the factory immediately stepped forward and hurriedly dragged the two men out, saying, "Behave yourselves, let's go!"

Liu Caixia then remembered to turn on the light. She picked up her luggage and handbag from the ground, put them on the table, and hurriedly asked Zhao Jingyu, "Jingyu, how are you? Are you hurt?"

“It’s nothing.” Zhao Jingyu pointed to the dagger on the ground and said, “They scouted the place during the day. I suspect they came for the sample garments. Before they could get anything out of them, you arrived.”

"They came during the day?" Liu Caixia's forehead was covered in sweat. "How come I didn't notice at all?"

“You were so focused on rehearsing in the hall that you didn’t notice,” Zhao Jingyu laughed. “I wasn’t interested in looking at other people’s entries, so I often slipped up to get a drink of water, which is why I noticed someone was watching me.”

"Then why didn't you tell me?" Liu Caixia said reproachfully. "If you had told me, I would have been mentally prepared."

“I was worried you were scared.” Zhao Jingyu said in a relaxed tone, “Don’t worry, even if two more came, I wouldn’t be afraid. I wasn’t done with them yet, and they were already lying down.”

"Why are you still addicted to fighting?" Liu Caixia said, both amused and exasperated. "Alright, get some rest. The competition is tomorrow."

"After the competition, will we be able to go home?" This was Zhao Jingyu's biggest concern.

"What? Missing your wife?" Liu Caixia teased him. "Let's stick to the original plan and go back the day after tomorrow. I still have some things to take care of, and we also need to wait for the results."

"I really miss my wife." Zhao Jingyu didn't hide his feelings. "She's about to give birth, and I'm worried about her."

“I asked her, and there’s still more than half a month left,” Liu Caixia said with a smile. “Don’t worry, it’s okay to miss one night. If you’re still worried, call her tomorrow and ask Dawei to come to your house to check.”

“Okay, I’ll call and ask tomorrow morning.” Zhao Jingyu was already eager to go home.

The next morning, Liu Dawei received a call from Zhao Jingyu and rushed back to the tenement to ask Xu Qingning, "Sister-in-law, my brother said he won't be back until tomorrow. He asked how you're feeling?"

"I'm fine." Xu Qingning knew that Zhao Jingyu would be back tomorrow. "Tell him not to worry about me. He'll come back once he's taken care of things over there."

This clothing competition was organized by the Provincial Textile Research Institute.

Liu Caixia said that there were about fifty entries, and they might have to wait for the results.

Liu Dawei agreed, then ran back to call Zhao Jingyu and told him exactly what Xu Qingning had said.

Zhao Jingyu was finally relieved.

The fashion competition will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Provincial Gymnasium.

Zhao Jingyu, Liu Caixia, and two other directors from the factory arrived at 7:30. Liu Caixia and her colleagues were in charge of the backstage affairs.

The models needed to change clothes backstage, so Zhao Jingyu couldn't stay there. He gave the sample clothes to Liu Caixia and the others, and then went to sit in the stands outside.

He had just sat down when he saw Xiao Tingshen and Chen Meili arrive. Accompanying them was a girl with a ponytail who was helping Chen Meili with her clothes. Zhao Jingyu glanced at her and realized it wasn't Ge Yanni.

Chen Meili was participating as an individual, so there were many things she needed to prepare. As soon as she arrived at the venue, she led the girl backstage.

Xiao Tingshen turned his head and saw Zhao Jingyu.

He walked down the corridor and sat down next to Zhao Jingyu: "I asked Chen Meili, and she didn't plagiarize Xu Qingning, so you can rest assured."

Zhao Jingyu snorted coldly and ignored him.
