Chapter 136 Gao Guojing Returns to Jiangcheng 01

Gao Shujing: "Aren't you coming over for summer vacation? It's less than half a year, why are you crying like this?"

Gao Guojing mumbled, "You eat and drink well every day, of course you don't find life difficult?"

Gao Shujing: "Even without all this, you were doing just fine in Jiangcheng, weren't you?"

Gao Guojing: "How can that be the same? Back then, I was a frog in a well, unaware of all the delicious food in the world. Now that I've jumped out of the well and seen how vast the world is, who would want to go back to the well?"

"Oh, Sister Rujia is so wonderful, why did I hate her before? If I had built a good relationship with her from the beginning, would I have been able to eat such delicious food long ago?"

It can only be said that he was overthinking things. The original owner of this body was a girl who never lifted a finger, so how could she have done these things?

Gao Shujing: "You've been here for over a month, and Rujia has taught you so many dishes. Your cooking skills have improved so much. When you go home, you can cook whatever you want to eat yourself."

Gao Guojing: "I'm a student, where would I get the money to buy meat? Do you think I'm like Sister Rujia, with people giving me money wherever I go? Do you believe that if I dared to eat like this at home, Dad would break my legs?"

In the Xia family, only Yu Rujia received this treatment. Even if it was his own brother and nephew, they wouldn't be able to eat so freely without Yu Rujia's intervention.

Gao Shujing thought about Xia Taishun's personality and found himself unable to refute his foolish younger brother's words.

Unable to argue with Gao Guojing on this point, Gao Shujing could only change the subject: "Once the braised meat is ready, take some out and hurry up and deliver it so we can go back to sleep."

In order to leave some braised meat for poor Gao Guojing to take back, Gao Shujing only allowed three or four catties to be scooped out, which, together with the glutinous rice balls made today, were sent to the cowshed.

After having breakfast, Gao Shujing went to work at the Xiafen Brigade. Today, the only person who could take Gao Guojing there was Yu Rujia.

Yu Rujia directed the packing, while Gao Guojing packed his own luggage. Apart from his personal belongings, Yu Rujia prepared food for him.

Ten preserved chickens, five preserved rabbits, fifteen preserved fish, six jars of mushroom sauce in malted milk powder containers (each jar weighing several kilograms), and ten bars of mugwort soap, Gao Guojing's favorite.

The braised meat, after being drained of its broth, weighed over ten kilograms. Even if Gao Guojing ate some on the way, at least ten kilograms would still be left in Jiangcheng for Xia Taishun and the others to try.

The jar of honey, which Yu Rujia had found deep in the mountains while collecting herbs, weighed several dozen kilograms. The jar that Gao Guojing took away only weighed a few kilograms, as there was simply no suitable jar to hold it.

Twenty or thirty catties of chestnuts and some daily pills made by Yu Rujia.

The items that Yu Rujia and Gao Shujing prepared were less than a tenth the size of those sent by Xia Taishun and his group, but they were all high-quality goods that money couldn't buy.

Even so, it took two large bags to pack everything, and Gao Guojing's own belongings were kept separately in his backpack.

He could easily carry one bag in each hand and a backpack on his back, and he could finish carrying everything in one trip. Unlike when he came to the Shangfen Brigade, he didn't need to find someone to carry his things, and he had to use a truck to move them all.

Gao Shujing wasn't there. After Gao Guojing finished packing his things, he hugged the children and cried, saying he didn't want to go back. At first, the children felt sorry for him and tried to coax him with some food.

Perhaps sensing the atmosphere of parting, the children started crying. Their cries, so loud they resembled a large chorus, were so loud that people outside could hear them and peered over.

Some team members even came over to ask Yu Rujia what was wrong.

Yu Rujia: "Guojing is going back to school, and the little ones are heartbroken because they don't want him to leave."

Hearing this answer, the team member comforted him, saying, "That's just how kids are. They want to play with whoever they get along with every day. Once Comrade Gao leaves, and after a few days, the kids will have something new to do, and these things will pass."

After seeing off the team members, Yu Rujia saw her uncle and nephews still crying their eyes out. She couldn't help but yell, "Stop crying! Didn't you say you'd come back during the summer vacation? It's only a few months, why are you crying?"

Gao Guojing said aggrievedly, "Sister Rujia, I knew you had no heart. We've been together day and night for over a month, and you didn't miss me at all."

Yu Rujia said expressionlessly, "If you keep crying, I'll take the braised meat away."

Upon hearing that his heart and soul were about to be cruelly taken away, Gao Guojing immediately stopped crying and comforted the little children.

Lunch was eaten early today, around 11:30. The bowls were left for Gao Guojing to clean up, and Yu Rujia took the children to Huang Guihua's house.

I greeted her a couple of days ago, and today I need to trouble her daughter, Peach Blossom, to help look after the children.

When I arrived at his house with a bowl of braised rabbit, Huang Guihua and Zheng Dayang were still at work. Only Peach Blossom was quietly at home; Gou Dan had long since run off to play somewhere.

Yu Rujia: "Taohua, I'm entrusting Duofu and the others to you. They've already had lunch, so tell your mother not to cook for them anymore. I won't be back until three or four in the afternoon, and I'll come back to pick up Duofu and the others then."

She knew that although Duofu and the others had already eaten lunch, Huang Guihua would definitely cook for them, so she brought a bowl of braised rabbit meat to add to their meal.

Peach Blossom nodded obediently: "Aunt Yu, I understand. I will take care of Duofu and the others. You don't need to rush back."

Yu Rujia: "Yes, you're so good. Thank you, Peach Blossom. You must listen to Peach Blossom. Your aunt will come back to pick you up this afternoon, okay?"

Knowing that she was going to see Gao Guojing off, Duofu sensibly pulled Duoshou, who was clinging to Yu Rujia's leg and looking sullen, and said, "Auntie, I will take good care of my little brother and wait for you to come back."

Duoshou is usually very sensible and often keeps an eye on Duolu and Duoxi to keep them from causing trouble.

But this little guy is also the most sensitive among the brothers. Not long after Duolu and Duoxi left home, they forgot about the atmosphere of parting, but this guy still remembered. He was still in a bad mood, and hugging his closest friend Yu Rujia made him feel a little more at ease.

Yu Rujia picked up the little guy and kissed him: "Duo Shou, be a good boy and listen to me, okay?"

The long-awaited display of affection made Duoshou's face flush red, and she softly returned Yu Rujia's kiss: "I understand."

The affectionate interaction between the aunt and niece caught the attention of Duolu and Duoxi, who were curiously exploring their new surroundings. The two little ones rubbed against each other, wanting kisses and hugs.

Yu Rujia fulfilled their requests one by one, and even picked up Duofu, who was looking on expectantly, and kissed him. The little guy blushed even more than Duoshou, but he didn't forget to kiss Yu Rujia back.

After calming the little ones down, Yu Rujia said goodbye to Tao Hua before returning home.

Gao Guojing had already finished washing the dishes and helped the bicycle out. He was tying things onto it when he saw her return. He said somewhat disappointedly, "Have Duofu and the others settled in yet?"
