After washing her face, Huang Xiaohua came over and said hesitantly, "Actually, what I want to learn most is traditional Chinese medicine. I wish I could treat people's illnesses like Aunt Rujia."
Huang Xiaohua deeply understands Sun Qingqing's illness over the years. Without money, even medical treatment is unaffordable. If it weren't for meeting Yu Rujia, Sun Qingqing would have died long ago.
Since then, Huang Xiaohua has had the idea of studying medicine, not to make a lot of money, but to be able to cure patients at the lowest cost, just like Yu Rujia, when someone is sick.
Another benefit is that she studied medicine, so she can treat her own family members when they get sick.
Sun Qingqing was taken aback. She had never thought that Huang Xiaohua would have such an idea. Studying medicine was a good idea, but how could a family like theirs afford to support her medical studies?
Yu Rujia doesn't mind taking on an apprentice. She doesn't rely on her medical skills to make a living, otherwise she wouldn't have donated hundreds of prescriptions just to gain the benefit of being able to treat patients openly and legitimately.
Huang Xiaohua is diligent, meticulous, and filial. Taking her as an apprentice will reduce the amount of chores she has to do.
Yu Rujia: "Studying medicine is a good thing. Our country is strongly supporting traditional Chinese medicine. If you want to study, I can give you some materials, but you must first learn to read before you can understand medical books."
Huang Xiaohua's eyes lit up: "I will study hard, thank you Aunt Rujia."
Sun Qingqing hesitated and asked, "Rujia, is it alright for you to give the information to Xiaohua?"
Traditional Chinese medicine is an extremely profound skill. In this day and age, anyone who wants to learn a skill has to become an apprentice, and even then, the apprentice might not accept them. Few people are willing to pass on their skills to outsiders.
As for Huang Dazhuang, if the old carpenter hadn't been childless and hadn't taken a liking to Huang Dazhuang, he would never have been able to learn this craft.
The threshold for traditional Chinese medicine is much higher than that for carpentry. Even if Yu Rujia only provides some materials, it is still a great favor.
Yu Rujia: "It's okay. Xiaohua is a kind and good child. She is very suitable to study traditional Chinese medicine. However, there is a lot of information to memorize in traditional Chinese medicine. If you don't understand the herbs, it can be fatal. So you must be careful when studying this."
"When Xiaohua reaches fourth grade, she should be able to recognize most of the characters. She can come to me for her study materials then."
When she returned home, her four children were squatting around seven field frogs. Their eyes lit up when they saw her.
Duolu: "Auntie, you're back! I'll go call Uncle right now." With that, the little guy ran out.
Seeing that Yu Rujia didn't react, Duofu explained, "Uncle said he would wait for Aunt to come back before making the field frogs."
Yu Rujia: "So that's how it is. Auntie will definitely let you eat delicious field frogs this morning."
Duolu had already run to Gao Shujing's bicycle shed: "Uncle, Auntie is back! Auntie is back!"
The loud-voiced Yu Rujia and the others heard it.
Only a few households in each brigade were left without electricity, and one brigade finished the job in a day. Gao Shujing had already connected all the households to electricity.
Occasionally, when the commune needs something, he will go there to fix some things, but most of the rest of the time he stays at home repairing junk or doing housework.
Hearing Duolu's shout, Gao Shujing looked up from a pile of parts: "Okay, Uncle is coming right away."
Put down what you're holding and wash your hands in the basin of water that was prepared beforehand.
Seeing his unhurried movements, Duolu hurriedly reached out his chubby little hand to help him wash his hands.
Gao Shujing withdrew his hand, preventing him from touching it: "Uncle's hands are dirty, Duolu, don't touch them."
Duolu said in his baby voice, "Help Uncle wash his hands."
Gao Shujing's lips curved upwards. He knew the little guy was impatient, but he didn't expect him to be so anxious that he didn't even want to give him time to wash his hands.
Gao Shujing: "Uncle will wash them quickly, it won't delay your eating of the field frogs."
After saying that, he quickened his handwashing, poured out the dirty water, changed his clothes, washed his hands again, and rinsed the basin. In the few minutes that followed, Duolu followed him step by step with his short legs, and even tried to help several times.
Just as the little guy was about to cry, Gao Shujing finally finished his work, picked up the chubby little dumpling, and said, "Let's go, let's go make field frogs."
Dorje grinned, wrapped his arms around his neck, and urged, "Uncle, hurry up."
When they arrived at the hand pump well, Yu Rujia had already set out the knife and cutting board.
Gao Shujing put Duolu down and walked to Yu Rujia's side: "Rujia, let me do it."
Yu Rujia never considered killing Tianwa herself; she was a lazy person and would rather not lift a finger than do anything.
Yu Rujia: "Okay, first knock the frog unconscious, then cut open its belly, take out its internal organs, make a cut here, and tear off the frog skin..."
Gao Shujing took the knife and, following Yu Rujia's instructions, quickly began to kill the field frogs.
The little ones watched the whole time, showing no fear whatsoever. Doro, for some unknown reason, even had suspicious drool dripping from his little mouth.
The frog's skin was peeled off, revealing its snow-white flesh. Duoshou no longer thought the frog was ugly and was now watching it with great interest.
As one dish of field frog delicacies after another was served, Duolu and Duoxi lay on the table, inhaling the aroma through their noses and drooling non-stop.
Duofu watched in alarm, grabbing one of the little buns with each hand: "Don't lean on the table, you're drooling."
Duolu, unwilling to leave Xiangxiang's field frog, slurped up his drool and swallowed it, destroying the evidence: "I won't drool."
Duoxi followed his second brother's movements, drooling, but unfortunately, he didn't have the same control as Duolu and fell down, luckily not into the vegetable basin.
Duofu no longer cared about the two little ones' feelings and pulled them off the table.
The two tried to climb onto the table and started tugging at Duofu. Seeing this, Duoshou went over to help Duofu, not wanting to eat the saliva of the two silly brothers.
When Yu Rujia brought in the prepared salt and pepper frog dish, she saw the four little ones playing tug-of-war.
Yu Rujia: "If you want to play, go outside. If you play inside and accidentally bump into a table, you won't get any of your lunch today."
Duofu was unhappy about being looked down upon, and complained, "Auntie, it was Duolu and Duoxi. They were lying on the table, and their saliva almost dripped into the food. I tried to pull them away, but they wouldn't leave."
Yu Rujia placed the dishes on the table, then turned around and picked up Duolu and Duoxi, one in each hand, and placed them in the courtyard.
Yu Rujia: "Your eldest brother is right. It's impolite to drool in the food. You all wait here until all the dishes are on the table. Anyone who dares to run in will be punished by eating plain rice for lunch and watching the others eat field frogs."
The threat was definitely strong enough. As soon as she stopped speaking, Duolu, who was struggling, quickly stopped and started to act cute: "Auntie, I won't go in, I'll just wait outside."
