Duoxi chimed in, "No, let's eat frogs."
Yu Rujia patted the two of them on the head: "As long as you behave well, you can eat your fill this morning."
The two adorable little creatures kept nodding their heads, saying, "Good boy, we're good."
After disciplining the two brats, Yu Rujia turned around and patted Duofu and Duoshou's little heads, praising them: "Well done. Whether our family can eat dishes without drool depends on you two."
The two glanced at their feet, which were constantly shuffling on the ground, and occasionally looked at the other two little ones in the restaurant, feeling a great sense of responsibility.
Duofu puffed out his little chest and said, "I guarantee I'll complete the mission." Having played outside for a long time, he had played many games of fighting Japanese devils, so he could pick up these words perfectly.
Duo Shou followed suit: "Make sure they don't get near the table."
Yu Rujia entered the kitchen, where the last dish was almost ready to be cooked: "Fourth Brother is quite quick; the little ones won't have to wait too long."
The restaurant and kitchen were separated by only one wall, so Gao Shujing naturally heard what was going on there, and couldn't help but smile slightly.
Gao Shujing: "Don't even mention them, I want to eat it just by smelling it. I never thought field frogs could taste so good. Let's go catch some more tonight and send some over there to try."
Yu Rujia: "Guo Jing is coming over in the next couple of days. Let's send some over there after he arrives."
Gao Shujing, considering that he could only go there once a month, agreed with Yu Rujia: "You're right."
When they brought over the last dish, Duolu and Duoxi did not approach the table.
Both of them, with their noses twitching, tried to inch their heads toward the table by the door, their feet still sticking out. Their small bodies twisted into an extremely strange posture, yet they didn't fall to the ground. Their balance was probably unmatched by most people.
Duofu and Duoshou stood beside the two, their little noses twitching involuntarily. Their eyes would occasionally glance at the dishes on the table, but most of the time they would focus their attention on Duolu and Duoshou.
Hearing footsteps, Duolu quickly stood up straight and explained to Yu Rujia, "Auntie, we didn't go inside."
So that's why they twisted themselves into that position with their feet sticking out? Yu Rujia was speechless.
Gao Shujing couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Alright, you can go in and eat now."
Upon hearing the signal, the little ones all ran to their respective seats and sat down.
Yu Rujia took a stack of bowls from the cabinet and placed them on the table.
Wanting to eat quickly, Duolu consciously went to the side to get a spoon.
The clever Duoshou had already handed a large ladle to Gao Shujing, indicating that he should help scoop the food.
Gao Shujing served him a bowl of frog and lean pork soup as he wished.
Just as Duoshou was about to take the spoon, Duolu had already placed it in his bowl. However, just as he was about to take the spoon, Duolu took it away, along with a spoonful of frog meat.
He was so angry that he wanted to beat him up, but the fragrant soup in front of him distracted him from actually beating him.
Fortunately, he had a reliable older brother who, seeing his angry little face, handed him a spoon. Duoshou finally got to eat the field frog he had been craving for a long time, and he loved the tender and delicious field frog meat.
He was still mindful of his food intake, but Duoxi, being impatient, didn't care about such things. He grabbed the spoon and hurriedly scooped up the meat to eat, naturally burning his mouth and letting out a cry of "Ah!"
Gao Shujing hurriedly put down the soup he had just prepared, turned around to look at his mouth, and after checking it to make sure there were no bubbles, he scolded, "Duoxi, you have to eat slowly. If you burn your mouth, you won't be able to eat many good things later."
Duxi, whose eyes were brimming with tears from the burn, was afraid that her delicious food would be taken away, so she forced back her tears and said, "Your mouth isn't hurt, eat the frog."
Gao Shujing released the little guy in an annoyed tone: "Eat slowly, don't burn yourself."
Having a history of such behavior, the impatient Duolu didn't dare to cry out even when he felt the meat was too hot. He forced the meat to sizzle in his mouth several times before taking a bite.
Fortunately, Gao Shujing took into account the young age of the children before cooking and removed the bones, so there was no need to worry about them getting bones stuck in their throats.
The little ones could all eat on their own. Gao Shujing picked up his bowl, took a piece of the saliva-infused frog, and tasted it carefully. He praised, "The meat is delicate, smooth, and delicious. No wonder Rujia is so eager to eat frog meat. We really wasted our time before."
Having adapted to the temperature, the little ones ate the field frogs much faster.
The delicious taste of the field frogs prompted Duofu to suggest, "Uncle, let's go catch more tonight, this time."
With a bag of meat in his mouth, Duolu mumbled in agreement, "If you want to catch them, I'll go with you."
Yu Rujia: "If you go, Duoxi will go with you, and then there won't be any food."
Duolu decisively said, "Then I won't go, brother. You and Uncle should catch more."
Duo Xi ate without even looking up. When she heard his name, her little ears twitched, but she didn't interrupt and continued to focus on the meat in her bowl.
Duo Shou ate more restrainedly than Duo Lu and Duo Xi, and didn't get his face covered in oil like them: "Auntie, is Uncle Guo Jing coming?"
Gao Shujing and Yu Rujia have mentioned Gao Guojing more often these past two days, and the little guy has remembered it.
Yu Rujia: "Yes, do you miss him?"
Duo Shou nodded and said, "Yes, when Uncle Guo Jing comes, I'll catch field frogs with him."
Duolu slurped up the meat in his mouth and asked with adorable eyes, "Who is Uncle Guojing?"
When Gao Guojing left last time, he was very reluctant to part with him and even got tricked out of some meat by him. But after only a few months, he has almost forgotten about him.
Duofu reminded him, "Have you forgotten? Uncle Guojing took us out to play during the Spring Festival. We played with firecrackers and asked for red envelopes. You even cried when he had to go back to Jiangcheng."
When asked about Uncle Guojing, Duolu said he didn't remember him well, but he remembered Jiangcheng, the little guy, very clearly.
Duolu's fair and tender little face straightened up: "I remember now, it's Uncle Guojing who went to Jiangcheng where there's no good food. Was he starving?"
Duolu only cared about two things: one was that he was Duoshou's older brother; the other was that the food was delicious.
He doesn't remember much else, but once he's had something delicious, he finds it hard to forget it.
For the food-loving little guy, Jiangcheng was the most terrifying place because it had no good food. He kept this in mind and made up his mind never to go to Jiangcheng again.
If the people of Jiangcheng knew that Gao Guojing was spreading rumors about Jiangcheng like this, I wonder if they would tear his mouth apart.
In order to prevent Jiangcheng's reputation from getting worse, Yu Rujia decided to correct the little guy's views.
Yu Rujia: "Duolu, there are also many delicious foods in Jiangcheng. Don't listen to your Uncle Guojing's nonsense. He just doesn't know how to cook. It's like the meat you like to eat. You won't eat it if it's not cooked properly, right?"
