Chapter 187 The whole family goes out to catch frogs

While Gao Guojing was fooling around with the kids, Gao Shujing had already brought out half a bucket of hot water for him: "The water is a bit too hot. Take two buckets of cold water in and dilute it. Rub for a while before you come out."

Gao Guojing glared at his heartless older brother: "Is there soap in the bathroom?"

Gao Shujing: "It's right there. You'll see it when you get there."

When Gao Guojing came out after showering, smelling wonderful, the disappointment he had felt after the previous setbacks had completely vanished.

Gao Guojing put his hands on his hips and shouted, "Men, I'm back again."

The younger children swarmed around him and started playing around, even the usually calm Duofu was no exception and was tossed around in his arms a few times.

Gao Shujing: "Weren't you hungry? Don't you want to eat anymore?"

Gao Guojing came out to find the kids as soon as he finished showering, to prove to them that he wasn't an unhygienic person.

Reminded by Gao Shujing, he remembered the meal and picked up Duolu, who was snuggling against him, and carried him inside.

Gao Guojing: "Let's go eat."

Two meat dishes, one vegetable dish, and a soup were already laid out on the table. These were the dishes that Yu Rujia had specially prepared for them after Gao Shujing had cooked them that morning.

Gao Guojing, suppressing the drool dripping from his mouth, asked, "Is this little bit of food enough for all of us? Do you not have enough money or enough tickets?"

Such food would be a luxury for most families, but for Yu Rujia, who loves to enjoy life, and her nephews who are still growing, it was far from enough.

Yu Rujia: "You're overthinking it. I've already had lunch with the kids. This is for you and your fourth brother."

Train delays are common, and Yu Rujia was unsure when Gao Guojing would arrive at Shangfen Brigade. Apart from Gao Shujing having lunch earlier, Yu Rujia and the children ate lunch at the usual time, around 12:00.

It's already past 2 PM. Gao Shujing had lunch around 10 AM. Based on his energy expenditure, he'll be hungry before they have their usual dinner time.

Hearing this, Gao Guojing, who had been eating dry rations all day, took the soup that Gao Shujing handed him with relief and took a big gulp: "Then I'll start eating."

When it comes to showing off his food, Gao Guojing is even more impatient than Duolu, the biggest foodie in the family. He doesn't swallow one bite before stuffing another into his mouth, as if he hasn't eaten for days.

As the eldest brother, Duofu, who usually corrects his younger brothers' behavior, frowned as he looked at them: "Uncle Guojing, you should chew your food slowly and carefully. Eating too fast will make your stomach hurt. Look, Uncle eats very well."

Gao Shujing was usually an elegant person. Compared to Gao Guojing, who was wolfing down his food, Gao Shujing, who was also eating, appeared even more dignified and composed. Duofu used him as an example.

Duolu remembered the topic they had discussed earlier and chimed in, "It's not right to eat things randomly. Uncle Guojing should ask Aunt and Uncle before eating anything in the future."

Having not had a decent meal in a long time, Gao Guojing, who was somewhat out of sorts, was once again criticized, feeling that the food in front of him didn't smell as good.

In order to preserve what little image he had left, Gao Guojing had to slow down his eating, and the meal was finished amidst the whispers of the little ones.

Seeing that the children still wanted to play with Gao Guojing, Yu Rujia pulled Duolu, who was snuggling against him, and said, "Uncle Guojing has been walking all day and is a little tired. Let him rest for a while before he comes to play with you, okay?"

Seeing that Gao Guojing looked tired, Duofu sensibly pulled back Duoxi, who wanted to rush over, and said, "Uncle Guojing, go and rest. I'll play with my younger brothers."

Gao Guojing patted his head and said, "Thank you for your hard work and good fortune."

After he went to sleep, the little ones also showed signs of sleepiness.

They usually nap until 2 p.m., but today, knowing that Gao Guojing was coming and Yu Rujia was busy outside, the little ones couldn't stay in bed for long and got up.

They didn't realize it while they were playing, but now that they saw Gao Guojing going to sleep, they felt like they hadn't slept enough.

Gao Shujing pulled Duoshou aside and said, "Duoshou, if you're sleepy, go take a nap."

After the family finished their afternoon nap, Gao Guojing was full of energy and played with the children.

The equally energetic Duolu was still thinking about the delicious food he had last night: "Uncle Guojing, shall we go catch frogs tonight?"

Gao Guojing looked puzzled: "A doll? Whose doll are you trying to kidnap?"

Duofu: "Uncle Guojing, it's a field frog, it doesn't belong to anyone, it's over there in the field, there are all of them, it's delicious."

Duo Shou smacked his lips as if savoring the taste: "It tastes better than meat, Uncle Guojing. We want to catch some of Duo Duo's field frogs so you can cook them for us."

Like Yu Rujia, the little guy doesn't like oily food and prefers to eat meat with less fat, such as fish and other seafood. He also likes field frogs, which are also low in fat.

After learning that field frogs were delicious, Gao Guojing became interested: "Okay, let's go catch field frogs when it gets dark."

With Gao Guojing joining them, the kids all went along tonight. Feeling the cheerful atmosphere, even the lazy Yu Rujia couldn't resist getting ready to go too.

Gao Shujing noticed her outfit and raised an eyebrow: "Rujia, are you going too?"

Yu Rujia nodded: "I'll go with you to take a look."

Duofu's little face lit up with a smile: "Auntie, there are lots of field frogs in the field. You'll be so happy when you go to see them."

Yu Rujia: "Yes, Auntie is very happy. After you catch the field frogs, we'll have a big meal."

Duolu excitedly kicked his little legs: "Auntie, I'll catch Duoduo later."

Yu Rujia: "Then I'll leave it to Duolu."

The family, carrying flashlights, walked towards the field where the rice had just been harvested. The continuous croaking of frogs made them unconsciously lighten their steps, afraid of making a sound and scaring the frogs away.

As soon as the group entered the field, a dark shadow pounced on little Duoxi. The little guy was so frightened that he screamed and cried, and then flailed his arms and legs wildly. By sheer luck, he actually managed to grab the shadow.

Feeling the weight in his hand, Duoxi was about to drop it when he heard Duoshou shout, "Duoxi, hold on tight, don't let go!"

Duoxi instinctively gripped the struggling creature in her hand, opened her tightly closed eyes, and looked at it. It was a plump field frog.

Having already seen and tasted the deliciousness of field frogs, Duoxi was no longer afraid. She stopped crying, and her mouth involuntarily broke into a silly grin as she held up the field frog in her hand to show it to everyone.

Duoxi: "Frog, I caught a frog!"

Gao Shujing took the field frog that he had almost strangled and praised, "Hmm, our Duoxi is the best. He caught such a big field frog as soon as he arrived; Duoshou is also good. He saw that Duoxi had caught the field frog at a glance and prevented it from escaping."
