Chapter 21 Hot Rice 02

Yu Rujia gave the three standing children a push: "Call him Uncle Captain."

Duofu walked over and said in a clear voice, "Hello, Captain Uncle."

The twins followed their older brother up, saying, "Grandpa, Uncle." The two little ones were still a bit unsteady on their feet, calling the brigade leader "Grandpa."

Pretty and well-behaved children always win hearts, and Captain Huang's smile widened as he pulled a handful of cookies from his pocket and handed them to the little ones: "So sensible, come on, Uncle will give you cookies."

It was clear that Captain Huang had put in a lot of effort. Knowing that Gao Shujing would invite Yu Rujia and that he would meet several children, he prepared cookies in advance.

He must have cut the biscuit himself, so there's no need to worry about the child choking, and it doesn't look like crumbs or scraps, making it suitable for children to eat.

Duofu glanced at Yu Rujia, received her nod, and then accepted the biscuits from Captain Huang: "Thank you, Captain Uncle."

Duofu received the biscuits and held them out to Yu Rujia, saying, "Auntie, have some."

Yu Rujia patted his little head: "Duofu eats well."

Duofu didn't pull his hand back, insisting, "Auntie, have some."

It's always hard to refuse a filial child. Yu Rujia took a small piece of biscuit from his little hand and put it in his mouth. He tasted it and found it to be very fragrant and crispy, confirming that it was a biscuit that had just been bought.

Yu Rujia: "Auntie ate it, it was delicious. Duofu, please eat the rest. Thank you, Duofu."

The little guy finally withdrew his hand contentedly, picked up a piece and put it in his mouth, squinting his eyes as he tasted the cookie.

Seeing this, Duoshou handed over the cookies she had just received, her small body straining to hold up the cookies: "Auntie, eat."

Yu Rujia didn't show favoritism and took a biscuit from his hand and put it in her mouth: "Okay, Auntie has eaten. Thank you, Duoshou."

Upon receiving the biscuit, Duolu immediately stuffed one into his mouth. Seeing that both of his brothers had given biscuits to Yu Rujia, he moved the biscuit in his mouth a few times, looked at the biscuit in his hand, and then glanced at Yu Rujia.

Duolu's big eyes darted back and forth between the two a few times, but in the end, with a reluctant look on her face, she handed the cookie to Yu Rujia: "Auntie, have some."

Yu Rujia found it amusing, ignoring his pained little expression, picked up a cookie from his small hand and ate it: "Thank you, Duolu."

When Yu Rujia first put a cookie in his mouth, Duoxi's little brain was constantly moving. He watched as Yu Rujia ate three cookies, and the other brothers were also eating, but there was no one for him.

Duo Xi frantically moved his limbs and babbled in baby talk. Seeing that no biscuit had been put into his mouth yet, he stretched his neck to reach Duo Lu's hand.

Unfortunately, he didn't choose the right target. When Duolu saw him coming closer, he grabbed the biscuits and hid behind Duofu.

Duofu, however, had a brother who wanted to feed Duoxi a small biscuit, but Yu Rujia stopped him.

Yu Rujia gently rubbed Duoxi's little head: "Sweetie, you're still too young to eat."

Small? Can't eat? These were the words that filled Duoxi's little head. Although he didn't understand what they meant, he knew that there was nothing in his mouth, and he immediately started to make a fuss.

Seeing this, Duofu pulled his two younger brothers to a place where Duoxi couldn't see them and continued eating cookies. Yu Rujia hugged Duoxi and coaxed him for a few more minutes before the little guy calmed down.

Party Secretary Li watched with envy, saying, "These children are so well-behaved. If my grandson were even a fraction as well-behaved as these kids, I would be completely satisfied."

Party Secretary Li is nearly fifty years old, and his eldest grandson, Tiedan, is two years older than Duofu.

As the branch secretary, his family's quality of life was not bad. As the eldest grandson, he was always given priority when there were good things in the house, which caused him to develop picky eating and food-guarding habits at a young age.

He would rather go hungry than touch food he didn't like, but he would want to eat his favorite food all by himself. Secretary Li wanted to discipline him, but the women in his family wouldn't allow it, and his temper grew more and more spoiled. Secretary Li was at his wits' end every time he saw him.

Captain Huang offered a comforting remark, "Tiedan is still young; he'll grow up and understand things."

As someone who had some dealings with his foolish son Erdan, Captain Huang naturally knew what kind of person Tiedan was.

But what could he say? Could he possibly persuade Secretary Li to harden his heart and discipline Tiedan? If he did, Secretary Li's wife would come after him.

Several more team members arrived later, and Gao Shujing brought all the dishes to the table, setting up two tables.

One of the tables was a low table that was moved from Yu Rujia's house, specially prepared for the little ones.

Gao Shujing also prepared meat porridge and steamed egg custard for the children. His cooking skills were a bit worse than Yu Rujia's, and the little ones ate much slower, with hardly anything spilling out.

Secretary Li was even more envious. If his son Tiedan had eaten these things, he would have wolfed them down long ago, instead of eating them slowly like the other kids.

Party Secretary Li: "Are the twins two years old yet?"

Yu Rujia: "According to the bone age test conducted by the police station, they should be around one and a half years old."

Party Secretary Li: "At one and a half years old, he could eat by himself without making a mess. How did the educated youth teach him?"

Yu Rujia: "I only taught them a little bit, and then it was all thanks to their older brother Duofu who corrected them, and that's how they gradually became like this."

Party Secretary Li: "How old is Duofu? Is he five years old yet?"

Duofu ate well from a young age, with plenty of nutrition, and with the help of the body-strengthening pills, he grew taller than the children in the countryside. At three years old, his height was no shorter than that of a five-year-old child in the countryside.

Yu Rujia: "He is over three years old this year."

Secretary Li felt even more heartbroken. His eldest grandson, who was just over five years old, still made a mess while eating, not even as good as his two one-and-a-half-year-old toddlers. Duofu, who was two years younger than him, not only did things neatly by himself, but also taught his younger brother.

It's true what they say: comparisons are odious.

Captain Huang laughed and said, "You can tell what a person will be like at three years old. Duofu will definitely be a promising and filial child in the future. Yu Zhiqing is very lucky."

Gao Shujing moved in. His main job now is polishing parts for tractors, which he can do from home.

Yu Rujia dumped the children on Gao Shujing's side, leaving Gao Shujing to be both father and mother.

Her straightforward approach dispelled all of Gao Shujing's previous doubts. This was indeed Yu Rujia; she didn't want to do anything herself when there were other people around.

It seems that she really had no choice but to shoulder the burden herself before.

Thinking of this, Gao Shujing's heart softened a bit. Yu Rujia, who was so reluctant to take the easy way out, did not take advantage of the Xia family's misfortune or try to part ways with them.

Instead, she tirelessly worked for the Xia family and never abandoned them. There is no more precious quality than this. Yu Rujia deserves to be treated well for a lifetime.
