Chapter 281 The Little Book 01

Doro held up a low stool, pointed it at Toshou as if it were a gun, and yelled, "You little devil, where do you think you're going?"

Even Tosuke, who usually doesn't get along with Toro, picked up a low stool and started playing with him: "You're the little devil, I'm the undercover agent, I'm on the side of justice."

We returned home in a lively atmosphere, gave the little ones a bath, and then they all went back to their rooms.

In the next room, Duolu and Duoxi didn't fall asleep as soon as they hit the bed as usual. Instead, they started imitating characters from the movie, with each of the two little ones playing several roles and having a blast.

Gao Shujing waited a while longer, but the two of them were still in high spirits. They got up, got out of bed, and went to their bedroom door to knock.

Duolu listened intently for a moment, exchanged a glance with Duoxi, and then got up and scurried off the bed: "Coming."

Upon opening the door and seeing Gao Shujing, the little boy asked in a clear voice, "Uncle, what's wrong?"

Gao Shujing squatted down and patted the little guy's head: "You two should go to sleep. If children don't go to sleep on time, they won't grow tall."

Envious of his two uncles' long arms and legs, Duolu hesitated for a moment, then kept the movie he had seen that day to himself, thinking he would act it out tomorrow morning; growing taller was the priority.

Duolu: "Uncle, let's go to sleep now."

Duoxi raised his little hand in agreement with his second brother's words: "Uncle, let's go to sleep."

The little guy lay down on the bed with his eyes closed, putting his promise into action.

After calming his two nephews down, Gao Shujing climbed back into bed, looking pleased. "A movie made them this happy. Kids' happiness is that simple."

Yu Rujia laughed and said, "It's our first time meeting, of course I'm happy. Aren't you happy to see a movie for the first time?"

Gao Shujing: "I'm happy, but not as excited as they are."

Yu Rujia: "Aren't you going to town tomorrow? Remember to bring them back some comic books."

Gao Shujing: "I'll remember. I'll give them a surprise tomorrow."

The next day, the group woke up still excitedly discussing the movie they had watched the night before. It was summer vacation, so they didn't have to go to school, and all the friends had come over.

As they talked, the group decided to go outside and play a guerrilla warfare game.

When Gao Shujing brought home a huge pile of comic books, there wasn't a single child in the house.

Yu Rujia: "He said he was going to play guerrilla warfare, but he won't be back so soon."

Gao Shujing raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "It seems they'll receive this surprise a little later."

Duofu and the others ran back from outside, covered in sweat. They washed off the sweat at the hand pump well, then went back to the kitchen to move the chilled watermelon to the dining room and cut it into pieces.

Every year around this time, when we come back from playing outside, we get watermelon to eat. The little ones know what to do without needing to be told.

Duo Shou brought two pieces of watermelon that Duo Fu had cut over to Yu Rujia.

Yu Rujia: "Duoshou, your uncle brought you some gifts. They're in Duolu's room. Go see if you like them."

Duo Shou was surprised by this unexpected joy, and his eyes crinkled into crescent moons with delight: "I'll go right now."

After replying, the little guy ran straight to Duolu and his companion's room, without even returning to the dining room.

Upon entering, one sees a large package. Duoshou opens it and finds it contains small books with pictures of one or more people on the cover.

Duoshou curiously opened the little book, which was filled with pictures. The little guy could read and understand the illustrated picture book, and once he started looking at it, he couldn't stop.

Duofu cut all the watermelons and sent a few more pieces over to the carport. When he came back, his younger brothers had already started eating the watermelons, but he didn't see Duoshou.

Duofu took a bite of the icy watermelon, and the sweet, refreshing, and icy juice flowed in his mouth. The little Duofu squinted his eyes in comfort.

After eating several bites, he still hadn't seen his most caring younger brother return. The watermelon on the table was visibly decreasing, and Duofu couldn't help but peek outside.

Not seeing anyone, Duofu called out, "Duoshou, time to eat watermelon! If you don't come back soon, it'll be gone."

Duo Shou was engrossed in watching when he heard him call out several times. Without even looking up, he said, "You guys eat, I'm not eating."

Watermelon is delicious, but you can have it every day. It can't compare to the comic book he just saw. The little guy says that nothing can stop him from reading comic books now.

The sound came from Duolu and Duoxi's room. Duofu carried the melon over and saw Duoshou looking at something with his head down. Curious, he peeked over.

Another person fascinated by comic books has emerged.

Duolu and Duoxiduoji ate watermelon for a while. The two brothers went out and didn't come back. He was no longer surprised by the watermelon. After eating his fill, he put the watermelon down and called out to the two brothers.

Duolu: "Big brother, Duoshou, where are you?"

Duofu poked his head out of the door: "Duolu, over here."

Once there was a first one, there was a second, a third, and a fourth. Even Dorje, who couldn't read, fell into the trap of comic books and kept pulling Dorje to read them to him.

The brothers were so engrossed in their comic books that they didn't even realize they were hungry.

Gao Guojing brought all the prepared dishes to the table, but the table, which was usually surrounded by several children, was empty.

I remember that when I usually come over to cook, my nephews would come over to help, but none of them showed up today.

Sensing something was amiss, Gao Guojing asked Yu Rujia, who had just finished washing her hands in the backyard and was coming over for dinner, "Sister Rujia, did Duofu and the others go out to play again?"

Duofu had brought watermelons to the carport for them to eat, so he guessed that his nephews had probably eaten the watermelons and then gone out again.

Yu Rujia glanced at Duolu and his companion's room: "No, they're in Duolu's room, engrossed in reading comic books."

Gao Guojing walked towards Duolu's room and saw a group of children sitting on the ground, each holding a comic book and flipping through it.

They had been playing outside all day and were very dirty. They didn't want to get the bed dirty, squatting was too tiring, and they didn't want to run out to get a stool, so they simply sat on the ground.

Dorje nestled in his older brother Dorje's arms, listening intently as he told the story from the picture book, his chubby little face displaying expressions that changed with the unfolding plot.

Even though he's only one or two years old, you can see several different expressions on his face within a minute.

Gao Guojing joked, "Oh, so you've been reading too many comic books and don't need to eat anymore?"

The group realized it was lunchtime, but they were reluctant to get up. Little Duolu, who always loved to eat, clutched his comic book tightly, looking troubled.

Duolu: "Uncle Guojing, can we eat later?"

Gao Guojing coldly snatched all the books from their hands: "No, go eat now. Children need to eat on time to grow taller."
