Chapter 43 Looking for Help 01

As soon as Han Meifeng was mentioned, Yu Rujia was speechless. She looked at him resentfully and uttered a few words: "The tattletale."

Seeing that she had softened, Gao Shujing's attitude also softened a bit: "If you stay at home and be a good team doctor, and don't do anything scary, I'll listen to whatever you say."

As the two were talking, four small heads peeked out from the doorway. Their eyes were the same ones the aunt and niece had used to watch Gao Shujing deal with the girls who came to his door.

The only difference is that Yu Rujia is missing from the crowd, and Duoxi is nestled in Duofu's arms.

Gao Shujing happened to see this scene, paused for a moment, and once again glared at Yu Rujia without regard for her manners, before running over and giving Duofu a flick on the forehead.

Gao Shujing: "You don't learn the good stuff, but you learn all that nonsense from your aunt very quickly."

Duofu covered his reddened forehead and complained, "Uncle, why did you only flick me? My brother and the others saw it too, why didn't you flick them?"

The three little ones, Duolu, looked at the two with blank expressions, not understanding what had happened. Duolu even tried to sidle up to Gao Shujing, but was pulled back by Duoshou.

Gao Shujing glanced at the three little ones, then looked back at Duofu.

Gao Shujing: "What do they know? If you hadn't been here watching, would they even be here? Don't you dare learn any of your aunt's nonsense from now on, understand?"

Duofu wanted to say that when his aunt took them to see it before, why didn't you do anything? Now that they're watching it on their own, his uncle is taking charge.

Having never attended kindergarten, Duofu instinctively recalled the idiom "bullying the weak and fearing the strong."

Yu Rujia ignored Duofu's pleas for help, as if there were some incredibly handsome man on the roof who looked at her without even lowering her head.

Now that the items have been brought back, they can't be returned. Yu Rujia took out the cloth and prepared two sets of winter clothes for each person, dozens of pieces in total. They also prepared some tattered quilt covers and outer garments for the cowshed.

Her space is filled with new and good things; there's really nothing broken or tattered there.

Before she could figure it out, Gao Shujing returned with six quilts and twenty kilograms of cotton. He had even thoughtfully prepared a lot of tattered clothes.

In addition, they also brought back a bunch of cotton thread.

Yu Rujia glanced at the man and said, "You're quite something, you've thought of everything."

Gao Shujing's lips curved upwards: "I have some connections. If you want something, just tell me directly. Don't go to those places yourself."

Yu Rujia casually replied, "Okay, we'll have to trouble our talented Gao from now on."

That's definitely impossible. No matter how capable Gao Shujing is, he can't get supplies as easily as someone with her spatial ability. His methods are too dangerous; if he accidentally falls into one, his whole family will be ruined.

Gao Shujing was frustrated. Was he really that untrustworthy? He had always taken good care of the children's food and clothing, never neglecting Yu Rujia's needs, and had never stopped looking after them at the cowshed. What had he done wrong? Why couldn't she trust him?

Gao Shujing has to take care of feeding his family members every day, wash a lot of clothes, and also find time to do his repair work. He doesn't have enough time every day, so Yu Rujia doesn't have the face to leave her clothes to him to do.

She could leave the things at the cowshed to the children to take care of themselves, but she couldn't take care of all the clothes for herself and the children by herself, so she decided to ask someone else to make the clothes for the children and their sweaters.

The first person they contacted was Xu Huiniang, a clean and gentle woman.

After the police found Hua Zi, who was given a clue by Yu Rujia, she came to Yu Rujia's place several times and could be considered one of the people Yu Rujia was more familiar with in the Shangfen Brigade.

Yu Rujia called out at her door, and she quickly came out: "Rujia, what brings you here at this hour? Come in and sit down. Have you had dinner yet? If not, I'll heat up some food for you."

Yu Rujia: "It's almost eight o'clock. We've already eaten. Has Hua Zi gone out to play?"

In October, the workday ended at six o'clock in the afternoon. Yu Rujia made sure to arrive at the right time so as not to run into people having lunch.

Xu Huiniang: "Yes, this kid, even after that kind of thing, he still doesn't change his playful ways. He feels uneasy if he doesn't go out for a few laps every day. He doesn't calm down even after dinner. You can't talk to him and he won't listen. It's driving me crazy."

When Hua Zi returned, Xu Huiniang was afraid that he would be abducted by human traffickers again, so she kept him at home. At first, he was obedient.

As time went on, he started to cause trouble. Xu Huiniang couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she made an appointment with him to go out and play at a certain time every day, and after that, his return time became more regular.

Yu Rujia: "Children need playmates. He's your only child, so he has to go out and find some. At his age, you could send him to school. With teachers watching over him, you'd feel more at ease."

Shangfen Brigade is a large village with over a thousand people and is quite prosperous. In the early 1960s, it built its own primary school, which could be sent to all the villagers of the brigade who reached a certain age. The tuition for a semester was only a little over one yuan, which many families could afford.

Xu Huiniang: "He is not yet six years old. We sent him to school once in September, but the principal said he was a little too young and told us to send him next year."

Yu Rujia: "Even a difference of half a year is not allowed? The restrictions are so strict. I was thinking of sending all the children to school in two or three years, but it seems that won't be possible."

Xu Huiniang chuckled and said, "In two or three years, Duoxi will only be three years old. I think your real intention in sending the child to school is to have the teacher help you take care of him."

Yu Rujia: "Who wouldn't want to take a break? With these guys around, I'm busy all day long."

Xu Huiniang: "Who told you to bring four children back at once? Of course you've been busy. They're relatively easy to take care of; they hardly ever cry, unlike Hua Zi, who would cry all the time when he was little, and you could never figure out why he was crying. That's what really bothered you."

When she went to Yu Rujia's place, she would play with Duofu and the others, knowing that all the kids were easy to take care of.

Yu Rujia: "Hua Zi is sensible now and knows to go out and play. You can finally be free."

Xu Huiniang: "What relief? He didn't even go to school. If he goes to school, we'll worry about his grades; if he finishes school, we'll worry about his marriage; if he gets married, we'll worry about his children. There's no end to it."

Yu Rujia: "That's because you're unwilling to let go. I'm different. Once they finish their studies, I won't care about them anymore. If they're capable, they can get married and have children; if they're not, they can remain bachelors for life."

That's exactly what she thought. Her previous kids were the same; they either found partners on their own or their dads had to take care of them. She didn't care that much.

Children grow up and have their own ideas. What you arrange for them may not suit their tastes. As long as the general direction is correct, you don't need to worry too much about the rest.
