Chapter 474 Xia Wenqing Returns to Beijing 01

The woman, unaware of Duofu's inner turmoil, laughed upon hearing his words: "Yes, you only have one aunt, and that's me. Do you remember me?"

Duofu: "I have absolutely no recollection of it."

The woman grew anxious and grabbed him, saying, "How could you not remember? I used to hold you a lot when you were little. I'm your Aunt Wenqing. Think about it, think carefully. You were already three years old when we separated. It's impossible for you not to remember me."

The woman was Xia Wenqing, who had fled when the Xia family had their troubles and had been missing for over a decade.

The Xia family was captured by those people back then. Xia Wenqing knew how powerful they were, so he immediately ran to a friend's house to hide.

The next day, I found the place that would send me to the countryside the fastest and signed up, then left Yanjing.

Because Xia Wenqing was in a hurry to leave, she chose the place that was fastest to go. The place where she went to work in the countryside was only a little over 100 kilometers away from the capital.

To prevent people from knowing her relationship with the Xia family and thus being arrested, she has kept her family background a closely guarded secret for over a decade.

She had always thought that the Xia family was doomed after falling into the hands of those people, but she never expected to see Duofu alive and well here.

Duofu looked so much like Xia Jingsheng that she guessed his identity at a glance.

Duofu frowned. He was only three years old when the Xia family had their accident. More than ten years had passed, and he could hardly remember the people and events from that time.

Since they had never heard their family mention Xia Wenqing, they naturally excluded her from their family circle.

Duofu planned to tell his family about it when he got home. Judging from the woman's expression, it probably wasn't a lie.

However, his family had never mentioned her, and he had never met her. Furthermore, because there was now another person in his unique name, the unhappy Duofu never thought of acknowledging her now.

If she is indeed his family, then he can apologize to her.

Duofu: "I don't remember you. I have something to do, so I'll be going now."

Duofu wanted to leave, but Xia Wenqing, who only had two legs, couldn't stop him or catch up with him. She could only watch helplessly as he rode his bicycle and disappeared from sight.

Liang Jiade, who had watched the whole thing, asked, "Wenqing, what's going on? Do you know him?"

Xia Wenqing's face fell into a nostalgic expression: "He is my uncle's grandson and my cousin's son. He was only three years old when I went to the countryside, so he probably doesn't remember me."

Duofu appeared here unharmed, holding three roast ducks, which shows that the Xia family had safely weathered the crisis of that year, survived the dangerous period, and regained their status.

Before the Xia family ran into trouble, they were rich and powerful. Now that they have survived the crisis, their wealth and power must have returned.

Considering her family's current situation, Xia Wenqing felt she could return to the Xia family. Once she went back, she would be a noble lady again.

Before the incident, the Xia family had many properties that were not divided among the elders and several brothers.

Now that the house has returned to the Xia family, if she were to go back, given her past favoritism, she would surely be able to get several houses.

Duofu had only taken a few steps into the house with the roast duck when he saw Xia Yuanqiang, Duoshou, and Duoyi tending to the vegetable garden, chatting amongst themselves.

Hearing the noise, the three turned around and saw Duofu, who hadn't returned for a long time.

When Xiao Duoyi saw him, she threw down the weeds in her hand, clapped her hands to brush off the dirt, and said with a grin, "Big brother, you're back! Is this roast duck? Great! We're going to have something delicious today!"

Duofu greeted Xia Yuanqiang and Duoshou before patting the little guy on the head.

Duofu: "It's roast duck. Duoyi, eat as much as you like. Your older brother bought a lot, so don't worry about eating too much. Where's your mom? Is she back yet?"

Duoyi sniffed the roast duck in his hand, but didn't stop him from answering the question: "Mom is at the shop, she hasn't come back yet."

Upon learning that Yu Rujia was not home, Duofu turned his gaze to Xia Yuanqiang: "Great-Grandpa, you go back and rest for a while. Duoshou and I will take care of the rest of the vegetable garden."

Xia Yuanqiang put down the small hoe and pointed to the vegetable garden: "There's only this little bit left to finish. It won't take more than a few minutes. Don't get your hands dirty. You rarely come back, so take a rest."

“I’m an old man with nothing to do all day, so I tend to the vegetable garden to keep my body active and prevent it from getting rusty. You don’t need to worry about me.”

Duo Shou also smiled and said, "Great-grandfather is still vigorous despite his old age. He works much better than us. Big brother, don't worry, go back and sit down. Leave this work to me and Great-grandfather."

Seeing that there wasn't much vegetable garden left to cultivate, Duofu didn't argue with the two of them: "Then Duoyi and I will go in first."

Xia Yuanqiang waved his hand: "Go, go."

Duofu pulled Duoyi, whose little hand was covered in mud, toward the kitchen, where the other younger brothers were busy preparing dinner.

It's summer vacation now, and Duolu and Duoxi have returned from Jiangcheng.

Upon seeing him enter, Duolu said cheerfully, "I was worried I wouldn't be able to see my elder brother this time I came back, but I didn't expect you to be back."

Duo Xi: "Yeah, brother, your major is too busy, even busier than ours. Why don't you switch to another major?"

Duofu shook his head: "This major is pretty good, I've never thought about changing it."

Building the fastest car has been his childhood dream. Now that he's involved in the project and the research is about to yield results, how could he possibly be willing to quit?

Duole glanced at what he was carrying and chuckled, "Big brother brought back a dish, so we can prepare one less dish."

Duofu handed him the roast duck: "Cut it while you're at it. Are there still a few dishes we haven't prepared? I'll cook them with you."

Duole took the roast duck and placed it on a clean plate.

Dorjee said, "We still need five more meat dishes. It's been so long since I've tasted your cooking, brother. I can't let this opportunity pass me by."

When Yu Rujia returned, the brothers had already finished cooking most of the meal.

As the family sat down at the table, Yu Rujia saw that Duofu was there and teased, "Hey, Duofu, your teacher actually let you come back. Have you fallen out of favor?"

Not long after Duofu arrived at Yenching University, he frequently asked professors questions that were beyond the curriculum due to his strong learning ability.

Upon learning that Duofu was a truly talented person, the professor, who was eager to recruit talent, took him under his wing, and thus began his life as a resident student at the school.

In my sophomore year, I started working on small projects assigned by the professor, and in my junior year, I joined the professor's large project.

The project is said to take several years to complete, but if successful, it will reduce long-distance commuting speeds in China by several times.

The fact that such a monumental project, worthy of being recorded in history, was managed to get Duofu, a mere teenager, into the project speaks volumes about his abilities.

The professor often asked him to be his assistant. Duofu was at Yenching University, which was only a ten-minute bike ride from home. Yet, the total time he spent at home throughout the year was less than that of Duolu and Duoxi, who were attending military academy in Jiangcheng.

It's not a holiday or festival, so it's strange that he's at home.
